What should I do with my Oneplus One? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I have a Oneplus One and it works quite well, but sometimes, for example when I open Whatsapp, it takes a lot of time to do it. I have the Stock ROM (6.0.1, 13.1.2), and since I have seen that LineageOS is the new CyanogenMOD I don't know if I should change to it in order to have a better performance in my Oneplus. I would be great if you suggest me what to do, I mean, what ROM to install.
If you can, please put the guide that I have to follow to install it.
Thanks.

Having some trouble finding a ROM

I am still on the stock 5.0 ROM and was looking to change it up. I have not been on Android since the original EVO 4G so I am a bit lost. I already have root and TWRP recovery on. I am looking for an optimized ROM that is close to stock. I have looked at LiquidSmooth but it looks like that is only 4.4 and I saw xtrasmooth but could not find the download link. Could someone provide a link to good stable ROM that is easy to flash? Also should gapps be flashed immediately after flashing the rom? Thanks in advance.

Every ROM is easy to flash. Just look in the Development or Original Development section, there's plenty to choose from. Also, the first posts usually state whether you need to flash Gapps or not.

I know how to flash, but I am just not sure which ROM to use. So many of them have a bunch of different acronyms in the title that I have absolutely no idea what they mean. Also some of them require you to also flash a kernel or a radio which would complicate things a bit further. Just looking for something that contains everything I need. Also for gapps, my question was if I should be flashing it immediately after flashing the ROM while still in recovery or if I should reboot first then go back into recovery?

Kernel or radio shouldn't be needed anywhere, maybe just in case of F2FS. There are many great ROMs to choose from, just pick one and try it out. Just be sure to read the OP. Also, you won't be able to boot into the system properly if Gapps are missing. Some ROMs have them included, others don't.

Thanks for your help. I have been looking at this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...v3-0-hammerhead-t2616300/page713#post58172446
In the title it states 4.4.4/5.0.2. What is meant by that? Which one is it? Is it as simple as booting into recovery, wiping all, flashing the ROM, flash gapps, and rebooting?

It's best if you read descriptions of roms at their thread. Also is good to read some feedback and reports by people who allready flash it. But the best way to figure it out, which rom is best for you, is to flash it by yourself.

I do read the descriptions, but there are some things that I don't understand being new. A lot of those threads already assume that you should know what these things mean. I couldn't figure out the liquidsmooth rom since it looks like they stopped development in December and the only gapps I found is for a different version. So I got kind of confused as to what I needed.

Understand that. But if you ask something like you, you will get a lot a different answers which can just confused you a little more. Also, you will get the answers by people who do not have same taste/expectations like you. So, best way is to figure it out by yourself.

I would suggest Cyanogenmod. Its very easy to install and very customizable, its close to stock as you wanted, there are stable versions and nightlies(can be unstable/bring small updates/improvements), cyanogenmod version 11 is based on kitkat, however cyanogenmod 12 stable version is in the works and it is based on lollipop, but there are nightlies out now.

Why do you want to root your phone, if you want to change your rom?
You just need a Custom Recovery (e.g. TWRP) in which you can flash your favorite ROM.
Here is a beginners guide, which i found in this section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guides-bacon-timmaaas-how-to-guides-t2839471
Step 2 & 5 are, what you are intrested about.
Just read carefully and follow the instructions and there will be no problems.
Good Luck

Galaxy tab4 sm t230 updated firmware

Hi guys
I'm looking to update the firmware on this old tablet as it's a bit out of date and a bit sluggish it's been a long time since I've rooted or flashed anything android. I own a Linux satellite receiver and have flashed firmware images bootloader etc so hoping this will help me. I'm basically looking for a guide from start to finish to bring this tablet a bit more up to date, hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

What to download is in the thread (rom, gapps and twrp), and you can find instructions all over the internet. I've wrote something in my thread of lineage 16 and twrp on how to install them (lineage 16 has the same instructions as the other ROMs I've linked you) too. What I advice you is to understand well what you have to do before doing everything. Otherwise, it can happen that you'll come back and say: "device doesn't boot anymore, what to do now?"
Yes I'm trying to gather as much information as I can so as to avoid any problems when I actually try to do the flash process. I will read up some more.
Thanks again

Hey Matteo- do you think this ROM is still the best option for those of us with a SM-T230 / DEGAS ? There isn't a proper LineageOS build is there? Appreciate the knowledge, thank you.

Yes. There's a LOS16 for T235, but not for T230.

Hi, I will ask maybe stupid question, since knowledge is 0 in terms of android, but is there a possibility to upload some ROM with android 9.0 to T230? (I even do not know if I haven't made mistake in question )
Anyway I need 9.0 for app and already rooted device following step by step instruction.

No, since there aren't any devs with enough interest/knowledge to make them.
Hi there. I have found an old SM-T230. I need to install some apps, which require at least Android 7. Will the above Custom ROMS work in that way, that i can install apps build for Android 7 or higher? I fear, i have to find some GApps but thats a other story... if someone can assist to find the right ROM and GApps, this would be nice...

Just got my oneplus 7 pro gm1913, advices?

Hi everyone, I've just bought my oneplus 7 pro gm1913 today and I want to ask you some advices about modding this phone... First of all I want to unlock bootloader and flash TWRP and after that:
I want to install gcam, which version do you think it's better?
I'm on Oxygen OS 10.0.10.GM21BA, you advise me to change to a custom ROM or to stay on oxygen? Custom rom for guacamole works on my gm1913 version?
Is it recommended to flash another custom kernel or to stay with stock? Which kernel is better in your opinion?
Sorry for my english and for all these questions, I'm a newbie and I want to learn from you with more experience than me.
Thanks in advance!

welcome to your awesome phone.
1. The stock rom is quite powerful and attractive, and a lot of us on here like it. If you root the phone, then you can freeze/uninstall some of the stock stuff that you may not like or need.
2. The Smurf kernel is absolutely silky smooth on the phone, and it lets you enjoy the awesome battery life. Other kernels are good too, and you may just have to try them out; that's the response you will always get when you ask for an opinion.
to root your phone and get twrp, there is an amazing guide in one of the pinned guide posts by arden144 or GoodSoul.
Here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unlock-twrp-root-and-update.3940368/#poststop
that's your starting point. You might want to take over the air (OTA) updates first before doing the root. Your phone's latest firmware version is 10.3.8 from a week ago.
Good luck, read, search, and then ask.

Congrats to your new phone! Here are some thoughts from a two-year-user that are nowhere to be taken as axiom.
I tried Gcam a few times. I reemember it being a lot of fiddling to get the aux cameras working via Magisk module or flashable zip in twrp. Even then the results of gcam were worse than the stock camera. I made this journey three times and back and OOS camera always won no matter the config I used in gcam.
As for the OS itself, OxygenOS is comfortably close to AOSP and the tweaks made by oneplus feel really nice. It's close to the pixel experience. I would say stay on OOS and wait and see if there is something feature missing you absolutely need. When you want to switch to a custom rom, just check the corresponding thread here in XDA and choose the one you like the most. Mosts of them are still actively supported. One thing you should know is that TWRP backups/restores can break easily if not all stars are aligned perfectly, so be careful to trust those unconditionally.

Question Things to do after buying a POCO X3 Pro?

So I have bought one Poco X3 Pro Indian version recenlty and it arrives tomorrow. I just wanted to know what are the things I should do after getting the phone in hand. I have no past experiences with Xiaomi and I have always used Samsung till now. So MIUI is kinda new for me and I researched around a little bit here and there and found out MIUI is full of bugs and a really heavy android based skin.
I just want to get the most out of my device and get a clean, minimalistic good user experience. Also I will be gaming a bit as well. But dont really need any fancy overclocking that will put pressure on the device and hamper it in the long run.
Thank you. You dont need to tell me everything in detail . But if you can, that would really mean a lot tho. You can just tell me the topics example- 'Unlock your bootloader (MUST)' and I will figure the rest out by searching and googling . Thank you again for your time.

First decide whether you want to use MIUI or custom ROM.
If you want to stay with MIUI, then look in XDA for useful topics. Debloat, root, Magisk modules, battery health preserving or ask what you need, maybe someone has answer for it.

ROM opinion is subjective.
If you are not satisfy with the ROM you are using, can try custom ROMs or modify MIUI.
Many people said MIUI drains battery fast and has a lot of bugs, but some people did not encounter issues and are satisfy with MIUI.
Try and error, life is just like this.
