BusyBox & SPay?

Had anybody figured it how to hide BusyBox from SPay so that we can still use it? I really want to install some custom profiles on my pixel, but SPay is more important. We can hide root, that i know, but not sure about BusyBox.

I've been searching for how to trick Pay as well. It's detecting root. I'm running a HTC U11 with LeeDroid Oreo rom and Magisk 15. Every Sammy app is Magisk Hidden and the magisk app has been renamed. It passes safely net. Busybox is fully masked from any app, so I'm not sure what the hangup is. I did a search but only found lots of notes about the csc (not an issue in the US?).
I'll do the reading if there is a search string I'm missing. Thanks!

Reading a thread where it says to try and hide root/BusyBox from any other app the targeted one calls on. For example: hide from camera since SPay has permission to use the camera.

Would you be up for trying any of these solutions and posting your findings?

Yeah this is a big issue I'm facing as well and I'm really curious as to why certain ROMs have no issues and others are seemingly impervious to the methods used to hide root from SPay.
If anyone has any insight into how to get this to work please share so that we can all benefit.

I'm us a US Unlocked HTC U11 with LeeDroid's rom. Release R114 now works with SPay. Remnants of Busybox were in a key path and all kinds of apps weren't working (SPay, WeMo...). With this release, Magisk hide allows SPay to work just fine without any crazy tricks. I hope this helps someone.
I don't know if there's an app that will search any rom for busybox, but it would certainly help those of us with a Sammy watch.

What are you using Busy Box for, out of curiosity..?

Some Aroma mods use BusyBox and so do some versions of V4A. Xposed uses it too.
Edit: currently using Magisk w/ BusyBox installed on BenzoRom and SPay still works.

This worked for me, but that was in the way back of 5.6.0, good luck!

Use a firewall, and block internet access to the two OTA apps. After go to Settings 》 Apps and look for the two OTA apps. Clear cache and data.

Try NoRoot Data Firewall from the Play Store.
There are two apps that have "OTA" in the name. I forget the full name right now.

Hi all. I've successfully rooted my Fire 10 (2017) using retyre's excellent offline rooting guide. I never (and still have not) connected to wifi and sideloaded 5.6.2.0 from what was previously at 5.5.0.0
After root, I've installed Google Play Store with forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77125897&postcount=80
Installed Xposed Framework Installer APK, but have yet to install the actual Xposed SDK because that requires an internet connection to retrieve the SDK. And I haven't downloaded a root file explorer yet, either.
Anyways, I've read and read before doing all these things, but there's one more thing to figure out before I finally connect to wifi.
What's the correct way to prevent Amazon from pushing a ROM OTA? I've seen 2 different implementations posted around the forums.

This method worked for me after rooting using the offline root guide. When I go into System Updates and click check, it just says "Check for updates failed." It does require root, so make sure to use the "su" command before the others or it will give you an error. I am on 5.6.0.1 by the way.

The methods can be ranked in terms of update prevention:
1) DeviceSoftwareOTA.apk_ blocks anything an everything, forever and ever
2) build.prop version blocks FireOS ROM updates (no threat to root), but does not block individual Amazon apk updates for various packages, so something like Amazon store may still update
3) firewall method is intermittent, and often people complain that it would still update even with the firewall blocking - this one is absolutely not recommended

I said Firewall because he didn't have root. A non-root firewall works, but isn't the most reliable.
Since you have root, go ahead and delete those two apps altogether. Use something like Titanium Backup, and then uninstall the OTA Apps. Make a backup in case you ever want automatic updates again.

any debloat guide or list?

Tried debloating a few things in terminal with magisk module and apparently broke something and dirty flashed to get it back is there any guide or list for debloating 8T? Hopefully the TMO variant

I advice to select only things that you know

Advantage to only freeze apps is after an OTA, all apps keep freezed, not if you have removed them

I too have the T-Mobile model, and while I have my bootloader unlock token I have yet to actually pull the trigger on rooting, so for now I'm using ADB to disable or delete s**t apps. Be careful with what you disable or uninstall. Both links below suggest using an app called App Inspector so you can find the app's package name, but this app is doubly helpful because you can use it to download a copy of the system app APK for a backup, in case your phone decides it's not happy with what you have done.

I personally used the uninstall guide to get rid of the built-in "GameSpace" app & my phone has been fine (I play ZERO games ever). I noticed GameSpace was basically running constantly & using up battery on standby even though I've never used it. My standby battery drain is much better...thanks T-Mobile & OnePlus!
I use jOnePlus Tools from the Play Store for forcing screen refresh rates universally already (although AutoHz is a great option too!), using ADB to enable it because I don't yet have root. It also provides the option to disable "OnePlus Analytics" if you have root, but if you don't it gives you the ADB shell commands to do it without root.

Question Can't remove system apps

I'm trying to run vanced YouTube on my pixel 7 Pro. Vanced manager manager still working on my op9pro...but I need to delete all remnants of the stock YouTube app from my device.
I'm unlocked and rooted. Titanium backup shows the error "can't locate APK". I'm trying to do it manually with root explorer. The YouTube and YouTube music APKs are located in /product/app/YouTube. I cannot delete these files and root explorer won't allow me to change the permissions of these folders. I also tried adb but that just hides them, I need to remove any and all files associated with the stock YouTube system app.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm not looking to hide these apps, I'm looking to permanently remove them from the phone.

[SOLVED] Revanced working?
Did anyone try installing revanced manager on the P7P? Get it working? I installed the manager and it doesn't seem to see when I patch the youtube apk. It goes through the process of patching the youtube apk. I installed using non-root methods...

@rester555, @EtherealRemnant, and some others got it working well enough....and I don't think they had to go through the trouble of deleting "all remnants" of the stock app. You might be used to a bit of an outdated method or particular to your previous device method because I believe it's been a long time since you had to remove the stock app to get it to work -- at the very least on my Pixel 5 A11 rooted, I used Vanced manager and it would merely overwrite/replace my stock app; I just had to make sure to turn off auto-update as Google would insist on re-installing/updating it back to stock...
In any case, the thread below is where a bunch of them got it to work well enough on the P7P (without the need to remove the stock app, i believe)

Just disable the app. You can do it natively. Go like you're going to uninstall the app and you'll see disable.

I did disable it. Only problem now is I can't install an older YouTube APK from APK mirror in order to patch it with revanced lol. Phone is giving me an error when I try to install an older version of YouTube.

I literally installed ReVanced yesterday. All I did was disable YouTube, build with ReVanced Builder, install micro G, and install the patched APK.

I'm not using revanced builder. I'm trying to use the manager app on my phone. Maybe I'll try the builder instead

I'm not familiar with using the builder, but I saw EtherealRemnant have success with it, so that's why I @'d him. Glad he/it helped!

I got it working. Although I'm rooted, I had to use the non root method with microg in order to get it working

Even though I got it working, I'm still kind of pissed I can't delete certain system apps off my device. Huge reasoning for rooting in the first place is to have ultimate control over my device. Can anyone shed some light on why I can't remove certain system apps or provide a working method to do so?

Just did the "Install as root" option and it installed just fine. I did uninstall all updates followed by installing apk of recommended version with no issues on my end

Root these days is systemless. The best you can do is disable apps or uninstall them from your user profile with adb.

i know it's old and EOL, but can't Titanium Backup "freeze" system apps? It's been a while (years), so I'm working off of memory and just basing it off of what I kinda remember and can't be too sure...

Open a Command Terminal, grant root access by typing "su"
This command works for me to delete system apps (youtube for example):
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.apps.youtube.music

Have you tried that one?

I don't know if it works on A13 but that's what I used to use on my OP9 to freeze apps, yeah.

TiBu still works. I'm using it currently. Does a fine job of disabling or freezing system apps as needed.

How do I delete system apps on newer phones?

I've recently worked on both a OnePlus 11 and a RedMagic 8 Pro (both with Snapdragon 8 gen 2), and on both phones I can't seem to remove YouTube. I'm rooted, and I've tried Titanium Backup and System App Safe Remover. I've also tried navigating to the APKs in a root explorer, but I was unsuccessful. I also used a terminal to run `su` and `reboot disemmcwp` in order to get write access, but that made no difference.
Is there something different about new phones? I need to power up my power-user status.

RootExplorer should do the job.
AFAIK Youtube isn't installed as system-app but as system-privileged-app: a big difference!

My end goal is to install an older version of YouTube (the last Vanced with SponsorBlock). Disabling won't allow that.

Why don't you install the non-root version? It coexists with the official version and both run fine.

That's a good suggestion, and maybe that's where I'll end up going. It's just kinda irksome that I used to have more freedom. Seems like "the man" has been working hard against the rooting community for the last couple of years.

I have seen too many posts on this and have been wondering for long why people bother so much with replacing the official app, when the non-root version works just fine, including opening links by default. There is just nothing that the root version can do which the non-root version can't, so I suggest to install the non-root version and forget about it.
