[Completed] PLEASE HELP. Noob Here-Acer Iconia One 8 B1-820 - XDA Assist

Good Morning. I've spent hours upon hours trying to find an answer but have had mixed results and dont want to brick my new device. I received an Acer Iconia One 8 B1-820 as a gift. I would like to root it and remove the bloatware and learn about the Android OS. Currently running Jelly Bean. My question is has anyone had success rooting this device and if so how did you do it. I've read that it may have a locked boot-loader but not sure what that means. Ive found one thread on this forum regarding a tethered root but its over a year old. Again Im nervous to brick my device so any assistance that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

[Completed] [Q] Having trouble understanding steps to rooting sony z ultra gpe

Ok im having trouble understanding this. Im new and ive read for countless hours but it seems as though i have to install a custom firmware?? Not sure what a kernel is so im leaning against that. I have a z ultra googleplay edition running 5.1 lollipop. Should I downgrade to kitkat 4.4? Is that even possible? Ive heard by unlocking bootloader you lose camera function and screen resolution which I defenitely dont want to do. Any help would be grear. It seems as though even the people that own stores that told me they can do ut are giving me the run around. If anyone knows someone that has done this before and put me in contact it would greatly be appreciated as well.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to get information and ask questions is in your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra They are the experts on your device.

[Completed] LG G2 D802- Terminologies & Best LP ROM?

Hello, i decided it was time to root my 16gb D802 G2. i am newly registered though i have been reading the forums regularly and even have stock rooted my phone because lg being lg. Despite that, i was at complete loss when i head down custom roms and i dont know where subforum ask about the "best" lp rom for my phone.
So i wonder if maybe you could point me to where i can find terminologies and in which subforum i should post my previous question.
Also as far as i know there is no way to brick your phone without a way to recover, still if there is an irrecoverable brick it would be nice to know more about it. Thx for your time
Hello there, thank you for using XDA Assist.
HERE is a list of terminology and all you need to know about root and android words. HERE is your rooting guide for your device, or basically a compilation of youtube videos to root any variant of your phone. and HERE is where you usually ask your device related questions.
Hope i helped! Happy rooting!

Wondering about ROOT capibilities

Hi guys, been lurking these forums off and on for awhile but I finally decided to make an account in attempt to my root my S5.
Generally I have a decent technical understanding of the android system but root is something i've never dived into completely so I had some questions and concerns. My biggest concern is that I attempted to root the phone a few months ago (I believe it was with..kingroot? if that sounds right) but failed, I'd like to try to root successfully but am wondering if the previous attempt could mess anything up and if so, how to fix that.
I was only wondering what exactly I would need to root the device, as in downgrading OS(?) or if only certain models are elligible or the like. Last but not least Id be interesting in finding the "best" rooting tutorial (assuming the stickied one isnt)
Thanks a lot guys, looking forward to getting into this!

Well first you need to tell us about your phone, like what software version you're running currently?

If you are on builds OE1 or OG5 you cannot root, downgrade, or do anything. You are stuck with stock. If you have anything before OE1 you have options.
Thanks for the replies guys sorry I wasnt more specific. Im running Android 5.0 and my build number is LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOG5 , is that what you mean by build? If so, is the root for it just not figured out yet or is there something stopping the device from being rooted permanently?

That is the build I was talking about. Between the locked bootloader and the security patches, it would seem the device is permanently stopped from being rooted.

Just bought this device, looking to install CyanogenMod on it, a few questions

Hey guys, I've been using android for quite a few years now, but when I came upon this forum, I saw a few posts warning of bricked devices. So, just to be sure, I'm looking for a guide on how to flash ROMs safely without bricking it. I looked around quite a bit and can't seem to find any guides for it. I have the i815 Verizon version, by the way. I downloaded CM12.1 already, but I've never used ODIN before. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

[ROOT HELP PLEASE] Hi guys a noob needing help with rooting my Nexus 7 Lollipop 5.1.1

Hi guys & girls,
Another new noob making his first critical question, here's the low down. OK I have a Nexus 7 running 5.1.1 Lollipop, (WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER UPGRADED TO LOLLIPOP FROM KITKAT) but anyway, I have tried several ways of rooting it. TowelRoot, KingoRoot, Nexus Root Tool Kit (NRK), etc...
I know I can downgrade back to a later version of my KittyKat. How ever I was trying to avoid that method (if it can be helped). My Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A it gave me a bit of trouble rooting it on behalf of it being an AT&T version. So enough yacking.. Here's my question, and any answer I will appreciate. I would like to know if there is an OFFICIAL way to root the Nexus 7? Or any late releases that anyone knows about, for rooting the Nexus 7 5.1.1 Lollipop, eather If it's a one-click method or PC method? I'd be happy with a PC method (if it can be helped). I'd rather a easy one-click method, we love those methods.
Thanks for any & all answers,
LaiD_BacK_MaNoR
Hey Again,
As I see no one was able to find a way to Help me Root my "N7", I was able to do research and upgrade my own CPU (My Brain) and get the job done myself and even managed to unlock the bootloader, on my own as well. Thanks for those who tryed. But it was a win, win for me bc I am now well advanced in the computer world.:good:
So if anyone else has this similar issue I will be delighted to help.
Thanks
