I don't want to make a really long post so I'll get straight to the point:
I own a rooted ALCATEL OT-991d. So today I was scrolling through App Manager when I saw Google Services Framework. So the thing is, after the root, my phone started having errors I didn't have before. My download notifications in the System UI from the Browser and Google Play wont vanish. I'll press clear and after a time it's all going to vanish but after a few minutes or after I open Google Play it just goes back again.
So here's the problem: I thought that Google Services Framework was the culprit (I know that was very stupid of me. Now I know what it is for) so I deleted it. Actually I hesitated and cancelled the operation but it was too late. So I tried looking the solution up, but to no avail. I downloaded 3 types of the said Framework but it wont install. I kept on getting the "Application Not Installed" Error.
So now I did a Factory Reset. So everything worked fine, except for the Setup Wizard. I was able to set the language and such but when I came to the "Set Up Google Account" part, it kept of crashing (because Google Service Framework is already gone) thus a fruitless loop. Now I can't even use my phone at all 'cause I can't bypass the freaking Setup Wizard.
Any tips? I can't buy a new phone at the moment so I'm at my wits end here.
I'm sorry for the long post and if I violated anything, it's because I'm quite new here.
My phone is on Android 2.3.6. I didn't have a chance to check the baseband etc. 'cause I never knew this would happen. But if you guys need it I can check my sister's device since we have the same phone. Thanks!
Update
Okay I found a solution..
I want to install a new ROM but I don't know how. I downloaded something like an Android 2.3.6 ROM and when I try to install it it says the signing failed blah blah. Help? Do I have to wipe the phone of its stock ROM?
Can anyone provide me with a working ROM for Alcatel OT-991d? Stock ROM's fine.
Thanks!

When it says zip verification failed its because you need to install a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or TWRP in order to flash custom ROMs
And Mate, Always do some searching before asking a question! There's already a guide on xda-developers teaching how to flash the stock ROM on Alcatel OT-991d
Anyway, I hope your phone works! Good luck

Ah yes, I did check that thread. It was just for bricked phones.
I was able to fix it. I updated the ROM. I used Alcatel Upgrade S for it. :victory: The sad part is now I have to start all over again 'cause I had to perform a hard reset and I wiped the old ROM.

After upgrading to the latest version of firmware (SmartWatch 2 SW2 v1.4.54) my smartwatch restarts and try to install firmware... during SW2 update process status bar freezed near the end and nothing more happend.
Please help me to fix this problem
ps: I cannot find any Q&A forum for sony smartwatch
Please tell us what have you tried to do up until this point and we'll go from there. I've had this happen to me too, but in the beginning of the update, namely when the firmware was being transferred to the watch.
Similar happened to me, just in my case the update process went to the finish, and then the watch turned off (black screen) and that was over. Can't turn it on, does not show charging screen, nothing, bricked-dead...
Thanks.
I went to google play and upgrade Smartwatch SW2 to it's latest version, which is released yesterday.
I went out of room... when I came back, I saw it freezes in this step... after restarting my SW2, nothing happened.

How many apps do you have running for/on the watch? Have you tried uninstalling all of them and doing a clean install?

It's about updating firmware... currently it cannot turn on completely... it's unpaired, I cannot pair it or see it in other Bluetooth devices.
How can I do a clean install of firmware? before pairing?

I read on one forum that this issue with the firmware may appear because of the apps that are installed for the watch. Namely, after/at the same time it is updating, the watch also tries to pull all info from the phone, including apps and all. I don't know if this will work, but you can try, it won't hurt.
Uninstall all SW2 apps, restart the watch and try again.

I know I can use dfu-utils to flash from CLI, but I cannot find any DFU file for smartwatch 2.
If it is possible for you, make a backup from yours and give it to me thanks.
At this point you used to be able to "repair" the firmware on the watch using the Sony Update Service. Using your pc you used to be able to load a basic firmware onto the watch and start again...but I think Sony have removed the SW2 from this service.
I think someone on here said they used the SW1 repair option and it worked for them but i'm not sure I would be brave enough to try that unless the watch was totally stuck.....

I saw that link, that's for SW1.
But I've found latest SW2 firmware from their package in google play
Now my problem is that I cannot restore those images, because there are some differences between those packages and what dfu-utils uses!
I've faced "Error: Only DfuSe file version 1.1a is supported" error, there are a paragraph in http://dfu-util.gnumonks.org/dfuse.html site about this problem, under ".dfu files" heading.
Hi all,
After owning the TF700 for a few years I thought I would try installing a Custom ROM... I've used Android for years but never attempted this.
Anyway, I've copied the ASUS Unlock Tool (both the V7 and V8 versions) to my device and attempted to installed. The installer loads, shows me what changes will be made, then I tap Next and after a few seconds the text "app not installed" appears with the only option to select is "Done."
I've done a complete factory reset but still no use. Same error.
Any ideas?
Apologies if this has been asked and solved before. I did some searching but couldn't really find anything.

Tried version 8 of the unlocker tool. result "app not installed". Tried version 7 "app installed" reboot. Not unlocked. Or at least it doesn't show it up in the corner at shutdown or boot up. Annoying as hell. Any suggestions?

You have to open the app and follow the steps outlined there. Couple of confirmations that you kiss the warranty goodbye etc... THEN it will unlock it.
Did that. It goes throught the either next, next, (to scroll down) or just scroll check box. Then click install. Then shows installed. I reboot and not unlocked.

No - after installing the app you have to open it like any other app from your app drawer and RUN it.
Installing it does not unlock the device. Running it does :cyclops:
After you used it to unlock you can trash it. It's done all it can do....
Did that. Just hadn't mentioned it in this post. Installed, went into apps. Scrolled through all the crap. Checked agree and press to unlock device. Says "an unknown error occurs which may be a network connection issue please wait and try again later". Made sure unknown sources was allowed in settings and it was registered on ANUS site. Yea, that misspelling was on purpose... WTF!!!!!! Got a tablet that is slow and sucks and can't do anything with it! Wish I would have never gotten rid of my Tab 2. Gonna put this POS on ebay soon.
Has anyone managed to solve this one? I just got a TF700T from woot.com and am having a HELL of a time unlocking it.
It's on 4.2.1 - V7 just seems to time out, V8 won't install in the first place.

If you have Google's 2-step verification enabled you need to disable it or create an app specific password for the unlock app.
You could also be a victim of Google's "less secure app" feature and need to enable/disable that in your G-account.

Hah! You got me in both threads!
I did have the 2-step verification on (I couldn't figure out which bloody password it wanted!) and even with that turned off - and "less secure apps" allowed - it was still timing out.
I tried again this morning, got a message about not having a google account ONCE, I said "don't care," and it sat for a couple minutes and came back and said "Failed."
Now I'm just getting the unknown error again.
Growf.

OKAY.
Persistance pays off.
Note: This is on a clean wiped tablet, on stock 4.2.1, using V7 of the tool, and no Google account installed.
I did send a support question to Asus, and they had me send in my Wifi/Bluetooth mac addresses and build info. (There was no mucking about with "we don't support unlocking..." WHEW)
That was about an hour ago - and I've been sitting here pressing the "unlock me" button over, and over, and over, and over... just in case.
Eventually I got the "You don't have a Google account installed.. unlock anyway?" and I said yes - but it would just wait a bit and say "FAILED."
After three or four successful "unlock anyway?" clicks (out of dozens of "unlock me" clicks) it finally rebooted and unlocked.
It's possible that John_Lu at asus just got my MAC info into support and they fixed me up. I dunno.
IN any case, chalk another up for the good guys. Now, off to install Zombi!
I had the same problem installing V8.
Figuring there might be an issue with the file currently posted on the Asus support site, I went looking around for a different source/repost.
I found one here: https://github.com/hackdefendr/TF700T-ADB-Tool
-seems to be for TF700T, unlock tool v8.
Since my tablet is going to be wiped soon anyways and not connecting to any other devices, the malware risk is pretty low, so I went ahead.
The file is slightly larger, 630kb instead of 600kb; and behold, this one installed fine.
I have android v 4.4 what can i use to unlock bootloader. seems i've been trying to hard but the unlock aplication from asus site says for v 4.2 or ics 4.0. so as i assumed when i tried runing the unlock app i got the app not installed message. PLS help.

There is no official Android 4.4 for the TF700, so either your bootloader is already unlocked or you have some other version of Android.
i apologize i wasnt specific, i have an asus memo pad 7 i have desperately been trying to root and it runs kitkat 4.4. i read i could unlock bootloader to flash custom rooted rom so this is what i was attempting but i get the application njot installed when i use the tool. Is it not really compatable with my device? if not, what is my best chance at root, as i have already tried towelroot and kingo and framaroot.
You're asking in the wrong device thread.
That aside, the JB unlock tool usually works fine on later versions. That error sounds like the common "less secure apps" problem. Read the thread, google the term.
App not installed v7
Hi I need some help. I downloaded the unlocker tool v7, ran the apk file, but it won't install....
(I have the TF700T (10.6.1.14.10), developer settings on, usb debugging on and unknown sources allowed)
I've searched around and not found people with exactly the same problem.
I don't know what to do anymore ....
Go into your Google account settings on the web and allow "less secure apps". Then the apk will install
Hi, I have searched numerous forums and I haven't found a solution yet. A friend of mine updated his phone to MM the other day and it got stuck on samsung boot screen. Phone has never been rooted, so I decided to use Samsung Smart switch to do a system restore. During the process, an error message popped up saying "DRK" is missing". Then I tried using ODIN to do a system restore with stock firmware, same problem came up.
Any solutions would help, thanks

I had the same problem. You need to ODIN the original firmware then let it boot normally. You will then see a DRK Missing error. Reboot to DOWNLOAD mode and flash the SPACEX_KERNEL MM N920C.tar kernel( you can find the kernel on xda or google). Let it boot again and you will see the same DRK Missing error AGAIN. Just restart your phone and it should works.
Thanks alot guys!

Thanks, I will try this method if there are issues later on. I read that the other method is a temp fix, I won't be able to perform a factory reset without running into the same issue. Have you tried factory resetting yet? I wonder if it will get stuck in a boot loop.

I followed one of the links and it worked! Thanks. I did come across it, but I didn't try that instruction. I did follow a similar instruction that required me delete several files from .tar, but that didn't work. So I tried the one you sent, this one just require to delete a file out and it worked. I read somewhere that it is a temp fix until the next factory reset.

If you connect a pc using adb, does it get any response to the TV?
Or, try this process to reflash/update the firmware, it should return to default settings. Just make sure you find the correct software for your specific tv then use this method to flash the firmware that you downloaded.

You didn't have exactly the same issue for the same reasons, you got lucky.
Why don't you post how you got working, that way anyone that comes here looking for answers will find some potentially useful information instead of a thread full of posts that doesn't really help them find answers/solutions? All these other users didn't get anything useful out of this thread, maybe you can change for future visitors.

Yeah I'm sorry, I'm about to post how I solved.
I got into exactly the same problem, I've the same IFFALCON 55K2A TV, recently it got OTA update to the Oreo version, so I was just experimenting with the developer options, and clicked on the show pointer option in the developer settings, then the device restarted and stuck in the loading screen. When I tried to enter into recovery mode, it shown android icon with "error" text and the device restarted and stuck in the loading screen again.
At first, I downloaded the Oreo update from the following link, which was mentioned by you in this thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/iffalcon-tv-india-rom-links-t3892518
http://www.mediacenter.tcl.eu/uploads/common/MT58_Android O_V551.zip
I installed this update, but the same problem repeated. It got stuck in the loading screen.
As I observed this is a zip file with the update. but I've seen some threads where it was mentioned to use signed .pkg files than the zip files. After searching a bit, I found a thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/iffalcon-tv-india-rom-links-t3892518/page6
and I got a v544 of the Oreo update whereas the OTA update is of v551.
https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1lr8sGZ7OF_Nylm6yWnrNrka9L_NplNS_&export=download
So, I installed this downgraded version, and I noticed that, when I installed this version, after installation finish, a screen was shown indicating the device memory is being erased which didn't happen when I installed v551.
After that, the setup screen came and the device turned ON after setup is complete.
I exactly don't know the reason for this behavior, but I assume that the developer settings kind of messed with the bootloader, and when I first updated with v551, it didn't effected the bootloader, and when I downgraded it restored the bootloader to the proper settings. If anyone understand what the problem might be, you can enlighten me.
I hope this answer helps someone out.

Yes, when I posted that link, I specifically stated that they needed to find the correct firmware and then I said to flash the firmware using the "instructions" in the link that I posted, I did not say to use the firmware linked in the guide from that thread.
Btw, the thread that you said you "found" is the exact same thread that I posted for them to use as instructions, the firmware you found must have been posted in another post somewhere in that thread.
The "show pointer" setting is meant for developers, it is something they use when developing the test builds of the firmware before the completed version is finalized. Part of its function is it displays information in the status bar detailing where the screen has been touched when this setting is enabled on a phone or tablet, but TV's do not have a status bar and most, if any, don't have touch functionality. When you enabled the setting, it was trying to display information in a status bar(a status bar that your TV doesn't have) and it was trying to detect, interpret and display touch input(touch input that it has no way of detecting because the TV has no touch related hardware). This creates a soft-brick scenario, which is what causes the device to bootloop after enabling the "show pointer" setting.

You don't need to extract anything from that pkg file. Put as it is in the formatted pendrive, I plugged the pendrive in second USB port, the update will take atleast 20min, and it doesn't show any progressbar kind of status, so just wait till the update process completes and the TV restarts
Thanks a lot for your help. Technician came and told me to change the motherboard, But i have tried your method and installed the OS. Really really helpful. we should not believe TCL/IFFalcon technicans, They cheat and they charge too much for their service and there is no proper rate card. Once again thanks a ton for your post.
