How Do I Get to 20C from 10A? - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

I am on 10A with root. Do I flash a 20C zip or will I brick it?
Do I have to update to each different version?
Thanks for any help.

Update via lg Bridge.
just connect your phone and pressing update button.

To answer the question, I flashed to 10D via Twrp, then to 20C.

Is 20c considered Nougat then? And are you going to update any further than 20c or just stay there? Thanks and sorry for the questions. Just confused.

Yes 20C is Android 7 and there are no roms past 20c as of yet. Just flash it via twrp and you'll be good to go.

Do I flash Autoprimes complete20c zip in TWRP. And the flash SuperSU separately? Or is there an individual 20c KDZ zip file I flash? Thanks for helping.

You can just flash the zip file then just flash super su immediately after.

(LG G STYLO) update to 10i without pc?

So everybody with the LG G STYLO has this update! How can I update my phone without a computer? I am rooted and I am on 5.1.1 I have recovery and root. Is there a way I can flash a zip containing the update and maybe flash another zip for the kernel and firmware update?!
Anybody?
Somebody has the stock rom of this phone?
i remember there being a .zip to flash but i can't seem to find it for you guys and here it is to flash using a Computer http://androidcreations.weebly.com/lg-g-stylo-update.html and this is only for t-mobile/metro

i am reading some thread about how to create a flashable zip from KDZ will take little time (Creating Zip + reflashing old kDZ + testing flashable-Update-Complete-zip + + Uploading not a small file btw) so be patient will be doing both T-Mobile and Metro PCS.

New OTA update?

I got notification of a new OTA 72MB update. Any one else get it? I searched online and saw no info on it. It seems to include a new modem img. Anyone updated? Any ideas on how to make a flashable zip? I was thinking I could by simply editing the updater script of the OTA...
I have been looking for info on this as well. I don't want to lose root just to see what it is. I will wait for someone to confirm.
Here's the update file from the Metro PCS OTA and it does indeed include a new radio img...someome please make this flashable!

Installed the update and it has a newer security patch number (7/1/16) and the build number is 20c.
Do you guys think that the original Stylo will have Android N since LG supports their phones for 18 months?

There is no flashable zip. It needs to be flashable to update through TWRP.
Also, he lost root and was unable to get root back.
Another reason not to accept it. I wouldn't want to root

I've been looking at it too. I tried to flash the radio.img through fastboot but no dice. When looking at the script I noticed that it replaces quite a few files.(the OTA will overide them to change back to stock). I wonder if there's any system enhancements other than the modem)

about your loss root, maybe you have slow internet connection when you updated it. sorry if i wrong bro..
MetroPCS LG stylo Android version MS63120C isn't rootable through Kingroot anymore if you take the latest update but no worries you don't need kingroot anymore. Place the TWRP recovery.img file in the same directory as ADB and Fastboot and take the SU zip file on your external SD card -Click anywhere on the blank white space in that folder - Now press your Shift key + right click your mouse - In the menu that comes up select "Open command window here" option - In the command window type "adb devices" - then go to your cell and accept the key and then type "adb reboot bootloader" - your cell should restart and you'll be in fastboot. Now in the command window type "fastboot boot recovery.img". You should now be in TWRP recovery one your cell. Now on your cell while in TWRP recovery select "Install" then navigate to your external SD card and select the SU zip file and install it. Now like myself you'll have root again. Then download and install fashify and flash the recovery.img to install twrp
If you don't have a PC to root Marshmallow on this device, you're screwed.

At the moment, yes. H850 20K implements some security updates (small update). Rooting as I mentioned works with SuperSU 2.82: just flash it in TWRP after the H850 20K ZIP.

Sounds like the famous twrp bootloop.
Try entering through the terminal:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc bs=256 count=1 conv=notrunc
You might then need to install SU s well..

I thought I did everything right, but got into the recovery loop, fixed by flashing a KDZ via LGUP. What caused the issue in the first place? Should I now re-root the damn thing?

Hmm, I had the twrp boot loop when I flashed LOS, so I'm pretty sure it is a twrp-problem.
try one of the solutions described here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/stuck-twrp-recovery-t3587077
There are several other entries about the twrp-loop and the G5 as well...
It is very, very easy to lose twrp or end up in the twrp loop with the G5. I had both problems and figured out that you have to be very careful about how how flash new roms, or update roms, or when to flash SU etc.. you will have to google it...
I think it's a bit of a hit and miss situation here...
I guess the reason why you had the problem was, coz you didn't flash SU immediately after flashing the rom but probably tried to boot it first...
When I was trying to figure out why I was constantly ending up in a twrp loops or losing twrp (actually not being able to access it, was not lost...) or root.. I was thinking for days WTF, WTF...

My G5 did the same a while ago. When I remember right I was able to fix that with re-flash of TWRP in bootloader, then flash COMPLETE ZIP and SuperSU in TWRP. Have you tried this?
Take it as a rule, flash rom+supersu always, without to reboot betweem

Maybe a stupid question, but since I got magik I have to flash the rom, then magisk again...without reboot.
What about the screen retention? Fixed?

Is stock recovery included in the flashable ZIP so I have to delete it or no stock recovery included so I can flash straight? Thank you very much!
I don't know why for only a security patch, they make a whole new 2GB file. Why not making it like windows? that we can download only the patch file, and install.
A question: Can we root it? Because usually it has stock recovery, and we can't install TWRP and magisk through stock recovery. I tried it a lot with 20N and couldn't.

No, there is no stock recovery included in the ZIP archives. If you have TWRP installed you can just flash the "COMPLETE" ZIP. If you flash the kdz you will get the stock recovery.
To gain root just flash SuperSU after flashing the ZIP before reboot.
Hey @DavidFlint
Thank you for the port. I'm currently downloading it.
I was wondering.. do you mind creating a step-by-step how-to guide for anyone willing to make a flashable zip from KDZ like yours?
It'll be very useful and it'll be really appreciated by the community.
In the future you might not have time to do it etc etc so someone else can work on it.
Thanks for considering it
Thank you very much for this!
I was looking around in TWRP Recovery file manager what apk it was that was blocking me from using the phone after unlocking bootloader but I gave up when I found this.
Just out of curiosity, is it just an app or is it more that blocks after unlock + factory reset?

Thanks for your work - saved a lot of time to return to stock from Fulmics. Works great with Magisk too!
I hope you will do this again for future updates?
So based on research it seems I need to install the latest bootloader and modem on my phone to resolve a slow charging issue on resurrection remix 5.8.5.
Is it as simple as just flashing from within the latest TWRP or is this going to cause me to have to re-flash the OS, etc or unlock the bootloader again?

Is normal: 2 popup with errors (one is about NTCODE, isn't it?):it's because the nationality of your phone is not the same (actually I don't know if it happens only when you make a "dirty update" from a firmware that is from your region, someone reported that using KDZ to flash first in "refurbished, than in "upgrade" will solve the problem), you have 2 solutions:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/cust-error-solution-t3507311 or the easyest one: make a backup of the CUST folder and delete what's inside!

Yes, you can downgrade 30c to 20a, then unlock bootloader and install TWRP.
Is there a guide on how to do this? Thanks
I never found a solution to this and ended up getting a new phone. But that new phone just brokeand I am back to using the LG G5 again.
So now I am looking for a way to downgrade to 20a and the files needed to unlock the bootloader.
Appreciate any help provided.

Hi subaron what version are you on now? If you are on the latest 30C then you need to downgrade to 20A stock ROM first.
You must download the 20A kdz file and flash it with UPPERCUT. Then you enable Developer Options and can follow the info in this thread on how to install TWRP recovery and root. The only thing different from those directions is: instead of SuperSU, install Magisk.
Once you have rooted 20A with TWRP installed, then you copy the 30C COMPLETE .zip to the sdcard, reboot into recovery, and install that and install Magisk once again.
