5x5 icon layout? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

hi.. 5x5 icon layout is not present in Honor 6x BLN-L22. It was there in my previous honor 6 H60-L04. is there any simple way to achieve that in 6x (without using any other launcher)? also, is it expected in upcoming emui 5.0?

oh alright... btw, can something like this be done about it? https://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-g7/how-to/5x5-layout-emui-3-x-root-t3460903

You can by editing your launcher by going to....
/data/data/com.huawei.android.launcher/shared_prefs
and open LAUNCHER_SETTINGS.xml
then find value
<string name="DESKTOP_LAYOUT_CELLS">4X4,4X5</string>
and change it to
<string name="DESKTOP_LAYOUT_CELLS">4X4,4X5,5x5</string>
and reboot your phone
Note: need root

Do you guys know if this trick to have the option to hide the navbar works on Honor 8?

What version do you have?
No option to hide it on FRD-L09.
Maybe someone with root can try to add the lines to build.prop and see if it works?
I have no root so i can't test it.

Very interesting, it looks like it's only available on Chinese version.
But it means that it should be possible to fix it the international version, maybe it's a easy fix in build.prop.

I have downloaded a firmware and extrected it and from what i can tell, when you install a firmware it will read the version from hw_oem and add from local.prop to build.prop.

Not entirely without problems. Earlier in the soft version of the B120, following inclusion line in build.prop lost the ability to record conversations boldbeast recorder. Today I installed the B131 and after editing build.prop again the same with the BBR. I removed the inscribed line, but I'm still bereft program for recording conversations. I do not know how to fix it, except upload system again.

Navbar Removal

So it seems if you modify the boot.img and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to the default.prop it disabled the Navbar! I'll post updated boot images in the boot images thread.
False alarm, the navbar is gone but when you lock and unlock the screen again you get the black screen.

You can actually hide the navigation bar without root on the Huawei Mate 9 using a simple ADB command. I didn't know you guys were interested in this - I can write up a quick tutorial.

I know how to hide it with the adb command but I'm trying to completely remove (disable) it so I can use LMT Launcher. qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 causes the phone to boot to a black screen, it's a bug in EMUI 5. In KangVIP there's an option to remove it but I can't find out a way to remove (disable) it running a stock rom.

I don't think we're talking about the same ADB command. I'm not talking about immersive mode. The one I'm talking about completely hides (only) the navigation bar. It's an ADB command unique to the Mate 9 (possibly EMUI 5.0 but I don't have another Huawei device to verify).

If you have the Chinese AL00 version the posted [ROM][AL00] Mate 20 X GlobAL00ized beta [Debloated][Mostly Deodexed] rom fixes this issue!! You'd have to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP (also has been posted), format phone (including internal storage), install rom and optionally install Magisk for root. Using Nova with no issues selecting between Huawei Home and Nova from Default apps setting. Although it's using 175 and not 185.
Hello
Is there a way or link to get the update, since I am looking by phone but there is nothing.

You're massively nice and helpful in this thread and a reminder to people like me not to vent.
Again thank you so much.
Apologies for thread hijack.

Don't care - no Launcher fix.
Becoming sadder and sadder that such a great phone has this problem. HUAWEI, YOU DICKS! Allow us to change the launcher. Sigh.

Huawei still dicks though for creating the GREATEST phone ever without Launcher support.
Made my day this news about the RoM. Cannot wait to try.

That's one of the reasons i don't buy Chinese models. Works fine on EVR-L29 (C432)
I just want landscape on home screen for stock launcher. When I'm in recent apps in landscape and go back to home screen the home screen is in landscape for a split second. It looks so good.Too scared to do the root. Never have done that. If this was a 300 dollar phone I would try.

Sad have to pay $40/60 to unlock, huawei did the worst move ever blocking , soon others will block too :x
Any sites to buy the unlock code cheap? *I live in Brazil, $60 is very expensive to me *
Any impact to root by taking the update?
Maybe silly question...

It won't work and fails. You have to flash stock recovery_ramdisk to do the update. Unless you're on [ROM][AL00] Mate 20 X GlobAL00ized beta [Debloated][Mostly Deodexed] rom in which case there are instructions to update to the new beta 2 version that will update to 185 during the process.
Huawei just push this update today to my phone as well.. I just said pass ! I will not Update from 175 to 185 since i see no improvements !
The only thing that upset me is the Option that 185 brings : Automatically Add Watermark Logo to Photos taken with Back camera !
Why you do this Huawei ! WHYYY.... Free advertising is good isn't ?
What if i want to post a pic to IG and i don't want people to see it was taken with my phone ... ?! Huawei is pushing our boundaries really hard... First, it was the Bootloader lock, then no 3rd Party Launchers, now Automatically Add watermark to our photos... Hmmm...

That setting is already there, it's just set to off now. The new firmware probably just defaults to on, so simply turn it off in camera settings.
Hicare has new update. 195
Anybody has updated it yet?

Can anyone put some picture here with the Camera Settings on the 9.175 ? I want to see the Watermark setting...
Thank you
How do you guys get an update thru HICARE? Also, it's the hicare app on the phone, right? Nothing shows app everytime I try to check since I got the phone. I always have to wait for the OTA.
EDIT: Figured it out... downloading update now.

Had the same reaction at first but when I checked it was indeed a setting and to be honest upon reflexion it would have been a dumb move from them to force a watermark/logo on photos
