5x5 icon layout?

hi.. 5x5 icon layout is not present in Honor 6x BLN-L22. It was there in my previous honor 6 H60-L04. is there any simple way to achieve that in 6x (without using any other launcher)? also, is it expected in upcoming emui 5.0?

5X5 was there in b340 version for my KIW-L22 but when i restored from twrp...when i was installing fresh stock and upgraded to next version, i am not getting anymore...
Not having the same option in my honor 6X. No option to enable it.

You can by editing your launcher by going to....
/data/data/com.huawei.android.launcher/shared_prefs
and open LAUNCHER_SETTINGS.xml
then find value
<string name="DESKTOP_LAYOUT_CELLS">4X4,4X5</string>
and change it to
<string name="DESKTOP_LAYOUT_CELLS">4X4,4X5,5x5</string>
and reboot your phone
Note: need root

I just added the 5x5 then reboot. Then 5x5 option is available. Hope it works putting 6x6 on it.

I can see this 5X5 icon in my B375 now on Honor 6X

You can see only when you are rooted with other file explorer which supports root and can acces system files like rot browser, es explorer etc

Look carefully the folder... its com.huawei.android not com.android

You wont as you are not rooted. Once rooted then you will see it

I was kinda surprised when I knew that it didn't have 5x5 layout in the beginning.
Anyway, it gives the users one more option to customize

yesterday i was at a mobile shop and thy had my exact device. BLL-L21 and the Home Layout on it was up to 6x5...
How is that possible.
i checked the software ver. and it was the same. EMUI 5.0 & Android 7.0
i dont know what i should look for. how can that be??

Navbar Removal

So it seems if you modify the boot.img and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to the default.prop it disabled the Navbar! I'll post updated boot images in the boot images thread.

False alarm, the navbar is gone but when you lock and unlock the screen again you get the black screen.

How the devs of KangVip Rom manage to get no nabvar? Also that is a option in the original Chinese Rom, or not? Maybe looking to their build.prop would help? :good:

I need to edit framework-res.apk to remove it but I don't know of anyone other than Kang who can decomplie Huawei APK's.

It just hides it temporarily until you swipe up. I was taking about completely removing it so that it's completely gone.

Maybe reverse engineering is rom helps... It's like you said I hate when people don't share their breakthroughs. Android is open source why people do this?

What rom do you have now? I've been on c432b138 and investigated about hiding navbar, but I did that it is completely gone. It is not result what I've waited. I need temporary method.

You can actually hide the navigation bar without root on the Huawei Mate 9 using a simple ADB command. I didn't know you guys were interested in this - I can write up a quick tutorial.

I know how to hide it with the adb command but I'm trying to completely remove (disable) it so I can use LMT Launcher. qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 causes the phone to boot to a black screen, it's a bug in EMUI 5. In KangVIP there's an option to remove it but I can't find out a way to remove (disable) it running a stock rom.

I don't think we're talking about the same ADB command. I'm not talking about immersive mode. The one I'm talking about completely hides (only) the navigation bar. It's an ADB command unique to the Mate 9 (possibly EMUI 5.0 but I don't have another Huawei device to verify).

Did "Font Style" show up for you in Settings? Are you placing the .hwt files in HuaweiThemes folder in /sdcard?

Can anyone tell me why on Firmware Finder I can not find any firmware for my slide? I have the model BKL-L09 (C432)

Firmware finder has already recognized the new device, in fact I read BKL-L09C432, but says that no firmware is available for this device.

Yes, just click on Add Model and type BKL-L09. When you do, click on that new model and you'll see the update.

I am so much tempting to install magisk but i need stock boot.img file to patch and flash via adb but its risky haha lets see what happens

I'd prefer the global rom, the only reason I chose the Chinese rom is because the L29 didnt come in 8GB/256GB.

Nothing, I keep using it I have the Huawei Honor Note 8, which was also Chinese, and it was fine, just some of the Chinese applications I wish has English option to use. But So far this phone is great, slightly smaller then the HN8 but still awesome.

I did try it and installed it but it just goes to the TWRP launch screen and gets stuck there. I have to reboot several times now to get phone to boot up normal... Yikes

Open the support app. Go to me tab on the bottom right in that go to settings and change region to China and I assume if you imported from China via eBay or other sources you should be able to get the update. You can either go to settings or use the services section and find the update button after that you will see update and even if you change region back to your original it will be fine and see the update.

I think this is a bit "dangerous" way because buttons menu will set in Chinese language, how can restore it in your language after that? I don't know Chinese language.
And second thing, at my Huawei Support App I haven't got any update software button and I have it lastest version on my Mate 30 Pro 5G.

In the support app language change will not change the system language. Just follow the steps and once it shows update available you can change location back to your original one.

I used to have it but that changed. See screenshots in my previous posts above you can get it by changing region in support app. Then go to services tab on the bottom. Scroll till you find the attached image. The red box with up arrow is for upgrade.
When you tap that it will see the update. You can change the region back after that and update using phone settings. Cheers
