Mate 9 (US) HD movie support? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I was thinking about buying a Mate 9 (the US version) but one thing I've encountered with some Chinese phones I've tried (OnePlus 2 & 3, ZTE Axon 7) is that they cannot play HD movies from several different services like Google Play Movies and Vudu (it's an issue with Google Widevine DRM). I tried Googling around, but I couldn't find anything regarding the Mate 9.
Basically, when you click on a movie to purchase in Google Play, does it say something like "Note: HD purchases will play in SD on this device"?
For example:

I have the Chinese firmware but I'm not in US.

Using the international version. L29C636.
I get these on 2 different movies.
So I guess it depends on the movie also?

Yeah, I saw something similar with the OP3 and Axon 7. It depends on the movie studio in some cases, but many of the major studios require phones to have a Google Widevine DRM security level of L1 to playback their movies in HD, regardless of what video service you are using. Chinese phones in particular tend to have a security level of L3 (you can see which your phone has by using the DRM Info app).
On a 5.9" display, 480p is...not so great.

Could anyone with a US model verify that this issue exists? It's probably the same as the international model, but I would like to know for sure.

Same issue with US version.

There seems to be some compatibility issues with some apps and Android services. Something Huawei week need to work on

DRM Info shows a security level of L1, yet no HD from Google Play.

Well that's bizarre. I wonder what the actual problem is then...
What about Vudu? Same thing?

How to use Google Service on Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 pro

On the recent event in Munich, Germany, Huawei announced its new smartphone: Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. With high-end technology units inside, the devices are very likely to be listed on top 1 android phone this year.
However, as one of the outcomes from the current tensions between China and the US, there's a big shortcoming for the series, which is GMS (Google Mobile Services) are no longer available on the devices. Huawei's CEO, Richard Yu has confirmed that GMS will not be preinstalled on Huawei Mate 30 Series, nor will sideload works.
Despite the fact that Huawei has its own ecosystem -- Huawei App Gallery, with a fair reputation to be considered exceed Google Play in the future, we do still need GMS presently. Think about all the data, such as game records stored there, you may lose a big part of it for changing a new device.
So what should we do? Just not using Huawei's new series? To our pleasant, ways for solving this issue has already been published on lots of websites with detailed tutorials. But, as a non-professional Android user, is there a simple method to deal with that? The answer is, yes.
I bet all of you have heard or used the virtual system before. By using a virtual system, we could handle varieties of situations easily which are thought to be hard-asses, and could expand the usage of our devices. So, as I just mentioned, the issue of Google Play & Huawei could also be sorted out easily by using a virtual Android system.
Let's see how it works here:
First off, we could download an app called VMOS, which could run an independent Android system on devices.

}
From the picture, we could see VMOS could be downloaded from APKPure directly. Will it work for logging in accounts and downloading apps? Check these out:
Now, the issue has been solved without troubles. GMS and all the apps could be installed and run in this virtual system smoothly, instead of being banned by Google.
Anyway, as a loyal user of Huawei, I hope that in the upcoming new series, Huawei could provide us with rapid wows, and make its hard and soft products great.

Amazon Prime Video - Full HD (1080p)?

Hello!
I really wanna buy this phone but I couldn't find anywhere on the Internet if there is Full HD (1080p) in the Amazon Prime Video app? There are sooo many phones that only have 720p or even SD (WHY?)! So please could someone please check it out and tell me if it says "1080p" on the bottom left?
Thanks in advance!
If you have 1080p in apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime etc depends on the Google Widevine certifiction level each phone has. In order to stream in 1080p you need to have Level 1, which the Find X2 Pro DOES have. However, a few users reported that their phones dropped to Level 3 (which allows for SD streaming only) after updating them to a newer firmware. They then had to contact Oppo and they've been sent a special application that they could use to get their phone back to Level 1. From what I've seen this was only a handful of users though, so most likely if you decide to buy it there won't be any problem and even if there is, there's definitely is a way out.
@Craphead
Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of that Widevine- stuff (and the update- problem [L1/L3]) and also that unfortunately it means nothing, whether a phone has Level 1 or not, when it comes to (Full)HD. Yes, it is necessary to have Level 1 but if the streaming- guys say "nope" (for whatever reason, I will never understand), then Level 1 is no use. For example, I have the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, with Level 1, on Netflix for instance everything is perfect but on Amazon Prime Video: "glorious" SD in the year 2020, not even fakeHD (720p), as I call it.
That's why I want to gently ask any user of the Oppo Find X2 Pro, if he/she could check it out on their Amazon Prime Video- app. I want/need 1080p in 2020 (or I won't buy any smartphone anymore).
Thank you.

I'm a Prime Video user as well and 1080p is absolutely working for me.
@Craphead
Thank you very much!
Now I'm gonna buy the orange one on Amazon ?
(Thread can be closed).
It's take a 30 seconds but does go to HD1080.

How to Mirror Display?

I have a couple Amazon Fire HD8 (2018) and was sad to learn, just now, that while the older devices had the ability to do screen mirroring/display mirroring this feature was removed for "newer" devices.
Is there any way to get this functionality back? I've used Fire Toolbox to get google services onto my tablet along with a couple other things, but on the handful of mirroring apps I've looked at it tells me "This device is not supported." I'm uncertain if this is a hardware issue (such as the kindle lacking a chip that can do wireless casting) or a software issue (where Amazon removed a specific system file). Has anyone found a way to fix this?

I have a same model as yours that I have tested on my 4K Android TV (Chromecast built-in) but the sounds didn't capture.

So that is half the solutions, thanks! But what about true device mirroring? For example, what if I wanted to be able to view my android screen on a windows PC?

Question xiaomi 13 8/256Gb

First impression.
Very friendly in size, screen, handling.
MIUI 14 Android 13.0.9 update. Interesting in many ways, but more difficult to discover the properties in the setup than MIUI 13.
Apparently the same problems in the older MIUI configuration. (Difficult to change the MIUI system launcher or cancel the apk download from unauthorized sources, for example)
Chinese apks almost all uninstallable.
Google play pre-installed, Chrome installable, Maps, Google One.
Fast wireless charging
A very good phone, a bit expensive, but much better than the xiaomi 12.
Unlock in 7 days.

An FHD+ screen on a device of this price is a bit of an overkill.
12 pro WQHD+, LTPO (Low Temperature PolySilicon oxide).
Hi, forgot to ask, what is the current version on your Xiaomi 13 now?

Oh, I see. Thanks.
I had the Xiaomi 12 and found that to be an excellent device with very few flaws in my eyes. The only thing I missed was a flat screen. Purchased my Xiaomi 13 12gb 256gb storage from china. Only issue I have found so far was that it has taken a bit of setting up to get the majority of google services on there and working. So far the only thing that does not work is google assistant via voice recognition.

I'm wondering how the balance of stereo channels can improve the features (e.g. quality) in streaming.

Try App Finder for search. It can exactly search the (nearly) whole Play Store with advanced search operators and highlights results:

So, I understand that the problem is with a faulty earphone, which is suitable for replacement. Is that so?
