Hey guys,
I'm looking forward to buying the 6X. The Chinese version (BLN-AL10) is the only one I can get but I don't live in China. I saw on the online mall I would like to get the phone from that I would need to install the Play Store and generally Google apps and services manually. Is this true for the Chinese version? And is there anything else I need to know about the said version before I commit to getting the phone? And will it get Nougat? Thanks in advance for any relevant help.
Where do you live? If you live outside China, I highly suggest you to get a US or European version... Because for China models, there are quite a few bloatwares from HUAWEI pre-installed...
And for Google services, yes, you need to install yourself. You can refer to my post below, make sure you read it through the last post:

I'm Kenyan and the device hasn't been officially launched yet and the only version I can get is the Chinese. ? Can't the bloat be uninstalled? Thanks for your link, it is helpful.
And is this version in the Android 7/ EMUI 5 beta testing or will it at least get them in the end?

Most third party and HUAWEI bloatware can be uninstalled. Just 4 or 5 from HUAWEI cannot be uninstalled, but you can disable them.
Beta testing is only for selected users and general public will get it in Q1 2017.
Just a kind reminder: if you cherish your privacy, stay with Google Play and don't play too much of HUAWEI or 3rd party bloatwares...

Go for EU version as it has both gyro amd nfc and no issues with play store as well. In China variant you may need to do lot of work to get google framework working.
Also, evwm of you change all the language and settimgs, you camt get rid of Chinese characters in few apps. Not against it but if you stay in Kenya then definitely you should not go for China Variant.

Thanks, I will think about it and see whether it's worth it. I really don't want to buy it then get stuck with Chinese stuff.

Thanks man, but unfortunately the Chinese variant is the only one I can get, trust me I checked for all other variants but to no avail. May be I should check the Nova Plus as it's locally available, then again it's more expensive. But again, thanks. And a concern I've picked up from your post- are there really privacy issues on the Chinese version? I too use a banking app and don't think I'd risk it if that's the case.

As in your phone info like IMEI, Geo Location, installed app list, if you check any software from BAT (Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent), 3 major app developers in China, you can easily find that they request almost every single permission your phone can provide, I mean how the heck a music app wants to know what other apps I installed???
Generally, it would be OK for you to use your banking apps in your own country, but just be aware and don't grant too many permissions to any app developed by Chinese company...

Hi, noob here. I was wondering if you can actually get your google account banned from the playstore as in if it's possible and has it happened before to people. I am referring to people that play unlicensed games without paying for the games. Is it possible or is it not? And if it is, how hard is it to get banned for playing unpaid games on your android phone?

I saw various posts about people emailing Huawei of China for an unlock code for their Chinese mate 9's. Who do I email for the International variant? I emailed Huawei of the UK and they said my device was not from the UK. I purchased it from wondamobile. I saw a few people online selling unlock codes for Huawei phones. Would they work on the mate 9?
just go to emui.huawei.com/en/ from there just fill in the blanks..btw u need a huawei id for that

It depends on the model number - if it is AL29 there is an app in the Google Play Store that sells codes and people on another thread have recommended it, if it is AL00 (which is what I have), it is still a nightmare. You can try writing to Huawei with pictures of the IMEI codes, non-Chinese network and the like. They probably will ignore you whether it is in English or Chinese. They certainly have ignored me for weeks. You can contact HiCare in Chinese and they will apologize to you and ask for information but nothing will happen (or at least in my case nothing happened). To complain you need a Chinese phone number but that does not help either. Hopefully DC-unlocker or someone else will resolve this very problematic situation soon.

You need to write them once every two hours in Chinese until they relent. That worked for me and others.
thanks - i am trying everything. they did respond quickly when i wrote to them in Swahili but that did not get me a code. i am thinking about just throwing the phone away

If you can unlock the bootloader, or install .zips from recovery, you can use opengapps. Otherwise, I'm not yet aware of a side-load method.
You should be able to install the Play Store using the APK file that you can download from apkmirror. From there you can then install other Google apps. Depending on the set-up, you may also need the APK files for Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, calendar sync etc.
There are lots of guides online. Eg https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-X/help/install-playstore-t3823897/amp/
Have you received your gundam edition yet? I have been told it won't ship until after Nov 12th.

and OPPO is quite conservative on bootloader unlocking issues, according to the previous reno series phones, it would take 3 months (since that phone release) before OPPO announce the method of locking bootloader.
Reno Ace comes with Google service installed, just go to apkmirror download Google play apk and you're good. I've been using this phone since launch date on At&t with no issues. Btw, $620 seems to be a lot, I ordered on JD.com on presale with 200yuan discount, so total price for a 8/256 purple one is 3099yuan plus shipping that rounds to about $450 USD.

So from my understanding Huawei Pay is already in use in China and has been touted to be "coming soon" in Western markets.
Wallet at the moment seems to just be compatible with gift cards and coupons etc.
What are you guys hoping to see out of Huawei Pay/Wallet going forward?
Do you have any concerns with particular banks not working? Barclays have always been stubborn when it comes to using things like GPay etc which obviously would bring scepticism whether they will work with Huawei too...
I think I'd like to see Face ID payments similar to Apple - on compatible devices such as Mate 20 + 30 Pro and P40 Pro...
Would be really good to see this in the UK. I am guessing that banks just need to sign off on it. But when it come i can see it being a beast.
Well excited for this feature, maybe on a potential new launch from Huawei also having mobile payments will be proof that Huawei has the banking app as all I'm reading on other social platforms is no app for that etc etc.
Would Huawei pay just a case of any where that accepts android pay? I know HMS is just base run android but curious to whether ill see 'Pay with Huawei' signage instores.

yeah your right its good to see the intergration / boarding passes / gift cards / credit cards - shame the UK doesn't currently do digital drivers licenses as it would be a full useable wallet and you legit don't need to carry anything then!

I personally use the Curve app to link all of my bank cards to physical Curve card. In terms of store/ loyalty cards I recommend scanning them into Huawei Wallet. I use that for my BPme card and it works like magic.
