Hi,
I need to unlock my device and my guess is I need to go back to Stock for the Tmobile Unlock App to work (does this even work in the first place?). So my question is has anyone used this successfully and also rooted/flashed another ROM after the unlock and it stayed unlocked?
If there are things I need to avoid after a successful unlock, please let me know that as well.
Thanks!
interesting
Well I know my N5 is unlocked under stock rom. After flashing a custom rom I lose the unlock. I've posted in other threads about this but there has not been a good answer other then getting an unlock code which I don't know how you would for tmo. But flashing an intl custom rom will let you get to the menu to enter the code to unlock. The question though is how and where would you get an actual numerical unlock code for a tmo device? Cellunlocker and a couple others I've contacted are not able to get an actual code to use for the tmo N5.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, my phone needs to get unlocked cause I'm moving to Japan and I rather unlock it than buy a new phone...until the Note 8 comes out.
I tried to Odin back to stock, but I get a DRK fail so I can't lol

Simple question needing a simple answer.
If my phone is unlock by using a code provided by ATT how do I lock back the phone for warranty issues?
Do I just reinstall the original ATT Fuze stock rom?
Thanks...
If it's unlocked through ATT, it's perfectly fine to return it in the same condition for warranty purposes.

I think that's what he meant He just forgot to place a comma after no in response to the OP's concern.
if you unlocked by code from AT&T, then you don't need to relock it to return it. not sure why you thought you needed to relock it.
After hours spent talking to ATT to get the code to unlock my full paid phone, I was told once I unlock the phone it voids my warranty.
Thats why I ask..

are you sure you are CID unlocking or just sim unlocking. if you sim unlock you CANNOT FLASH ROMS. if it is CID unlocked basiclly wide open then your fine to flash roms etc.

ok obviosuly no one knows what therwe talking about here..but i can give it to californiyay because hes ASKING THE QUESTION..i dont mean to be a jerk but dont give out answers if you dont know what your talking about...sorry that sounded really mean lol
ok sim unlocking is just alowing your device to utilize a different carrier's sim card and the warranty department cant detect if it is unlocked IF yu used the method ON XDA..now if they gave you a code i BELIEVE that is solely based on the rom you are using because one you flash another rom it MAY ask you again for that code when you insert a different sim..i myself have never used codes from carrier reps ive only done it myself through hardware devices and software hacks...so even if your device is SIM UNLOCKED you STILL CAN FLASH ROMS
and you dont need to CID to flash roms..i personally dont cid unlock anymore because on the bootloader screen at the top it wuill say "SECURITY UNLOCKED" and if you want to do a warranty return and even though you reverted your device back to warranty spec rom and spl it still blares that message at the top of the bootloader screen which is a dead giveaway..
just dont trip if you need to do a warranty exchange just call em up (18008011101) and just tell them your isue if and when you have one and they send you a new device and you send yous back..and viola your good..

they only give out sim unlock codes...CID unlocking is done through software hacks...
Try emptying your cache immediately before clicking on the link (I needed to do that). You may also want to turn off any anti-virus software (and perhaps pop-up blockers). You also need 7zip or winrar to open up the folder.
BTW, I purchased the unlocker, and then chickened out and didn't use it when I found out (and didn't understand) what it did. So, I also bought the SIM unlock code from htccode.com. If you go that route, the phone does stay unlocked after ROM flashing (there was an earlier Q about that, I just thought I'd address it).
Sorry, still a little confused on the whole SIM/CID Unlocking, so I have to SIM unlock to flash roms? and what benefit does CID unlocking give me? what form of unlocking do I need to change radios?

You need to SIM unlock the phone to use different carriers (t-mobile, orange, etc.). You need the security lock to flash non-raphael radios. You don't need to do anything (except install hard-spl) to flash roms, unless the rom contains a non-raphael radio (most do not change the radio, from what I gather).
When I flash a rom, do I still have the old at&t stuff on there so I can just reboot with the vol down button if I dont like the rom? sorry to be so ignorant, we all have to start somewhere. Ive tried searching but when you type in "flash rom" you end up getting 392 threads to search through.
I'm curious too as I'll be getting my Fuze on Saturday

if you want to go back to your original rom, then you'll have to download the stock rom and flash it again. Doing a hard reset will just give you a fresh copy of the cooked rom you flashed.
So, just for saftey I have located the stock rom for my phone, now, it says it has a radio, the radio is the same version as mine, but I have heard not to flash with a radio if your device is locked because it may brick the device, does this apply for using the same radio to flash with? (I just want to be very careful when I do this not to screw anything up)

also how long does it take to flash?
OK people the questions and answers in here have been done MANY MANY MAY times, please read the sticky threads in the various sections before starting a whole new thread....these devices are expensive and a flashing process should NOT be attempted until you are fully aware of what you are doing

I'm Just wondering If I update to 2.2 will my phone lock again or once it's unlocked it's always stay unlocked even if i do a hard reset >?
I haven't updated to 2.2 yet so don't take my word, but I've read that it re-locks and disables the easy way to find the unlock code.
But, if you write down your unlock code before updating to 2.2 and then enter it again in 2.2 you're good to go
Definitely save your unlock code somewhere so that you can re-use it if it re-locks. My phone has gone through JH7 update then Froyo update and stayed unlocked. But others do claim theirs get locked again.
Regardless, your unlock code should be the same because it is sololy based on you IMEI number.
so, is the general consensus that once you're on JH7 you can no longer get the unlock code? or did i miss the 'how to' thread for that?

JH7 is still 2.1 ROM and it is still possible to get the unlock code (a little bit more efforts than stock JF6). 2.2 ROMs are impossible to get unlock code as far as I know.
The following is pure speculation---feel free to object
It *may* be the case that, once the official Froyo update is rolled out, an unocked phone will stay unlocked. I assume that somewhere in the internal file system is a file that keeps track of the network lock status of the phone. The unofficial JI6 ROM may have been an image or backup taken from a locked phone; in this case it makes sense that the network lock will be restored upon flashing that image. But, in an official update, this may be avoided.
On the other hand, I have seen posts mentioning that not only was the phone relocked upon flashing JI6---the old unlock code itself was apparently rejected! I find this both puzzling and worrisome: I do want to upgrade to Froyo when the official update arrives, but I also need my phone to stay unlocked.
BTW, I updated to JH7 OTA and the phone stayed unlocked.

Ive got no issues with a little more effort – just not quite sure how to go about it. Would you be good enough to either fill me in or direct me to a thread where i can figure it out?
Thanks!
I have flashed my phone a few times - JH7, JI6 (2.2); and now back to stock with JH7.
My phone is locked and the original lock code dos not work.
According to a post on Cyanogen's forum - I can take the existing stuff in BML3 file:
SSNV´'šù..Jøý.—.~n.•öVÚðÜž|.hÿ6*§ÒùF....Gmñ.¾E.¸Øoß’.Öµ.†.ˆì..Á.ñ-*y!96Ý.FFFFFFFF........................00100100101#31015031017031118031041031098099999#
And replace the FFFFFFFF with my 8 digit unlock code and push this file back to the phone.
Has anyone tried this?

My phone stays unlocked even after JI6 flashing. I have no idea why others get locked again. Maybe they never unlocked properly when they were still using 2.1 ROM.

i had this problem with 2.1 rooted when i put in my non att sim card, asked me for the unlock code again, go to this to get it unlocked the msg above
i updated my firmware to 2.2 froyo rooted thanks to senior member last night and it never asked for the unlock code ever again
Save your unlock code!
Every time I've flashed a new ROM I've had to re-unlock the phone. Supposedly other people have not had to re-unlock, so it sounds like a case of YMMV.
I had my phone unlocked and working fine overseas. Got back could not wait so put froyo on. I thought the unlock would stay it did not. But i had the codes so no worry. I tried twice the codes from before but they did not take. So going to get a cheap tmob prepay sim and try that did not want to kill my other good sim. I will let you know how that works. If any one has any ideas please let me know.
Edit: got brave put it the sim from Japan again after flashing cog beta 4 and did not ask for unlock code. So i guess it works, somehow. Ill still get the tmob sim tomorrow and try. But looks good now.

It will work with any rom and it is permanent.

Unlock the phone by putting in a non T-Mobile sim and turning on the phone. The code entry box will appear. Unlock it now before flashing a custom roms. Most customs roms don't have the necessary code to perform the unlock. But once you have unlocked it you never have to do it again no matter what rom you flash.
Hi
I bought D2G from ebay it was listed with bad esn. It's not asking unlock code or anything, reads the sim card, changes to global mode, connects to a network(jumps from one to another all the time) but no service when I try to dial a number says network not available. So what is wrong with my phone? is it unlock?something is wrong wit the radio? or what?
If it is not asking for network subsidy code, then it must be unlocked if it works with your sim. Make sure it is set to GSM/UMTS mode, not Global - if your sim is active you should get reception. At least on 2G (GSM). If you are not getting reception, something might be wrong with the phone.
It might also be running a custom ROM (unlock requests only work on Blurry ROMs afaik); another possibility is former owner going to the “hidden” menu and choosing “USA Band”.
In the latter case, you need to SBF.
thanks Gasai Yuno custom rom was the problem now it's on stock rom and is asking for unlock code. I'll try to unlock it thanks again

Good catch! I wouldn't thought somebody would sell their phone without bringing it factory default first..
Good luck to OP with the unlock codes - hopefully your phone won't turn out to be from those Verizon played with..

I try to flash stock rom (kdz extension) but it doesn't work because my boot recovery is not stock recovery. What should I do to remove CWM recovery for my phone model LG Optimus G E973?

Thinking of buying one of these and want to clarify the process of unlocking the bootloader. From the ebay seller he says it is a T-Mobile phone but is sim unlocked already. He says I will have to contact oneplus to get the bootloader unlock code/token. I don't really want to wait the forty days or whatever I heard it was but it's ok as long as I can definitely get it unlocked eventually and won't be stuck for some reason with a locked bootloader. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I've ran across two of your posts asking the same question. I had done the same thing as you. I bought an eBay sim unlocked op7p. At first I flashed the international firmware to just bypass the whole tmobile bootloader unlock. It worked in the sense that I was able to unlock the bootloader, however I had no service and the phone would not detect my sim (Cricket). I tried another sim with the same results. I had to use the msm tool and flash back to tmobile stock firmware in order for it to work with my sim.
I sent in my request for an unlock token and received it in 7 days. I think the 40 days is only for brand new phones. I would submit the unlock token request and go that route. YMMV, you may very well be able to flash the international software and just bypass it. I didn't have that luck. The 7 day wait wasn't so bad. Hope this helps.

That's good to know that I can get the unlock token if needed. So TMobile doesn't care who you are or that you don't have a T-Mobile account or live in US obviously then?

The unlock code comes from OnePlus. I only had to wait the week and the received an email with a link to download the unlock_code.bin file. To answer your question, not to my knowledge.

I think I may be in the same boat. After fighting with msm I finally got it to flash the international firmware but nowjiy doesn't detect my sim. So you went back to Tmobile software and got the token to unlock but once you did that did you switch back to international or custom ROMs?

I have not flashed back to international because I couldn't get the phone to detect my sim even after updating the international firmware.
I would however recommend that once you flash back to TMobile (using msm) that you do the OTA (settings>system>check for updates)
Currently I'm running unlocked and rooted via magisk. I'd like to flash a custom rom (looking at resurrection) but they say to flash the international rom to both slots first (via recovery like twrp) and I'm not sure if that would cause the sim issue again. I haven't had time to ask about it (if I can flash straight from tmo stock rooted to a custom rom like resurrection). So unfortunately I don't have the best answer there. You may ask around in some of the custom rom threads about just flashing straight from the TMobile stock firmware with unlocked bootloader. If you happen to find out an answer, please pm me and let me know.

Actually I was mistaken. Once I updated the international rom to Android Q my sim started working again and now I am on Bliss and sim is still working. Not sure what is going on with your sim.
