Question about model and firmware compatibility - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hello folks,
I just got another S7 (I sold mine at a great price, got another one and kept the change )
What I need to know is: my new model iaccording to Samsung phone info app is SM-G930F heroltexx, original CSC is blank, firmware and active CSC are both CRO, available CSC are CRO and DHR, CSC Country is Croatia / HR.
Phone has annoying T-mobile boot animations that I'd like to get rid of, and also flash Nougat via Odin. What should I pay attention to? Is any G930F firmware fine, or I have to look for specific one? Any chance flashing will remove T-mobile branding on boot and shut-down?
Phone itself is simfree, knox 0x0
Many thanks!

This subsection is for T-Mobile US (G930T), you should ask in the general S7 forums.

Samsung Pay G930F

Hi
I have a S7 G930F (single sim) version. It has an XSG firmware from the UAE (Phone is from Dubai).
I'm trying to work out how samsung pay will work when available in the UK. I can access the app now without any issues.
Would it detect that I'm not on a BTU (UK) firmware and not let Samsung pay work or is it depended on if I am using a UK Sim etc?
I guess the easy answer to this would be ' Has anyone used their current european G930/G935 in the US on Samsung Pay with a US sim card and had it work?
I can't flash BTU firmware and CSC as Samsung Pay will only ever work on the original CSC and even when installing new firmware and CSC from another region is keeps a log of the original CSC on the phone and detects a modification.
My know is still 0x0 by the way as I've only used Odin with stock firmware.

Galaxy s7 g930p firmware guide

Hello i am new here i have some questions plz.clear my mind issue is i have galaxy s7 g930p when i dial*#1234# it shows AP, CP G930P AND CSC G930F what is this??? I want to update oreo which firmware should i use i am in pakistan and already use os marshmallow
Boot into download mode (Power + Home + Vol Down) and check what model number it says you have there.
Then download the firmware specifically for that model and nothing else.
Thanks for reply... in download mode its shows g930p and also in settings same model name and also back on phone side same but in recovery mode shows g930v
Here is some detail...
In the Downloads mode SM-G930P is displayed,
in the Phone Info also SM-G930P,
in the manufacturer "Samsung / Verizon",
product code "Not Active",
Original CSC code is empty,
CSC firmware code VZW,
active VZW firmware code,
available CSC codes are empty,
SCS country USA / HK,
Bootloader version G930PVPU4APL6,
PDA version G930PXXU1BPIA,
version CSC G930FXXU1BPIA,
radio module version G930PVPU4APL6.
Which model firmware should i download
Download mode is the only value that can't be changed by modifying the firmware, so it's your true model.
The G930P is the US Sprint S7 model running Snapdragon, so you can use any Snapdragon firmware with Odin (G930U/V/T/P) but don't attempt to flash anything Exynos as it will brick your phone (G930F/FD/W8/K)
G930U is the carrier unlocked generic firmware, so the best one to use if you don't want bloat etc.
Thank u so much can i now install latest update of g930u? in odin fill all boxes with g930u files also csc g930fxxu1bpia with g930u file?
Thank you so much sm-g930u firmware with oreo now working in my sm-g930p no any issue here thanks

I need help to identify the correct firmware for my S7 (SM-G930F)

I bought a new S7 (G930F) at ebay. When it arrived i wanted to update to the newest firmware, but i got an error notification.
I contacted Samsung and they told me to send it in.
They checked it and told me, that they are not willing to help because the phone is flashed with a wrong firmware. I bought it as a new device. This is unpleasant.
The seller doesn't answer my messages, so i thought maybe i can flash a new firmware by myself. The actual firmware is working but it is outdated. (1. August 2018)
But how can i find out which firmware is correct for this phone? How to say if it is exynos or snapdragon?
The phone information
Modellnummer: SM-930F
Seriennummer: 5AF94C0C
Buildnummer: R16NW.G930FFXXU7CRH2
Kernel: 3.18.71-14274519 [email protected] #1
Basisband: G930FFXXU7CRH2
Android 8.0.0
Samsung Experience: 9.0
I would like to flash the latest firmware and i want to use the phone in germany. Can somebody identify the correct firmware?
Thanks a lot
What does the phone say in download mode? The ROM can be modified to lie about the model and firmware, but download mode will tell you the truth.
If download mode says it's a G930F then it's Exynos, if it says G930U/V/T/A then it's Snapdragon.
If it is a G930F then good news is you can just flash whatever G930F firmware you want over top what's on it. If it's Snapdragon then you're a bit stuffed, you can't flash Exynos firmware onto Snapdragon.
For updating it if it is G930F my recommendation would be to find out the region code for your device, e.g. from here https://updato.com/firmware-archive...act=1&r=DBT,XEG,DCO,DDE,VIA,DTM,VD2&v=&rpp=15 then download the firmware using that region code with SamFirm tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Download Mode says SM-G930V
I'm doomed
Yep that's a common scam. If you can't return to seller the next best thing would be to flash the G930U firmware, which is the generic unlocked firmware for Snapdragon.
It won't give you the equivalent experience, but it will remove any bloat and give you a carrier unlocked phone experience.
You can use the same methods I mentioned to get your hands on the latest G930U firmware and update the device, but you may need this specific Odin version to flash G930U over G930V https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
Thanks. Does TMK, TFN, TMB,... make a difference when the phone is used in germany?
Should i flash all 5 files:?:
AP
BL
CP
CSC
Home
I tried and my result is: Flashing only AP was not enough. Flashing all 5 worked fine for me. I chose TMK and even LTE is working. Thanks a lot.
Glad its working, for reference CSC and Home_CSC are both CSC files and you usually pick just one. Home_CSC doesn't do a data wipe, CSC does.
But when changing from G930V to G930U it's always safest to do the CSC wipe.

Refurbished Galaxy S8+ running Note 8 firmware?? I just want to flash my firmware...

Hi everyone. I have a Galaxy S8+ that I bought on BackMarket a year ago. The phone has been great, but has always had problems with some phone calls going straight to my mailbox for no reason, texts not coming in then suddenly working if I send OUT a text. After some research and contacting my provider (United States, Ting), I was told that this is because I need to enable VoLTE. My phone didn't have the option to do so and when I called Ting again, I was told that this is because my phone was the International version and VoLTE wasn't supported on that model.
I thought that was the end of it, but this week I had the thought that maybe this is a firmware thing instead of a hardware thing. Calling Ting again, they checked my IMEI and said my phone should be able to do VoLTE. Great! All I needed was Odin and the right firmware (I was thinking G955U1, TMB). So here's where things get weird. As I started to set up for flashing my firmware, I gathered the following info:
IMEI.info says I have:
Model: G955F Galaxy S8+ (SM-G955N)
Here's the info I get when running the "Phone INFO ★SAM★" app.
Phone Model: SM-N950F / Galaxy Note 8
Firmware's CSC Code: XEF
Bootloader Version: G955NKSU3CRI3
PDA Version: N950FXXS5DSC6
CSC Version: N950FOXM5DSC1
Latest Firmware: N950FXXSDDTJ1
If I'm reading this right, it looks like I've had a Galaxy S8+ running Note 8 firmware? At this point, I'd still like VoLTE, but even moreso, I'd like to just know what's going on and what I should do about it.
Seems like somebody installed a modded Samsung firmware on your phone. Check download mode for KNOX, I think it will be tripped (0x1).
If it is tripped then no Samsung Pay and stuff that depends on KNOX. If you are fine with that and just want to get VoLTE working, download the right firmware for your device and flash it to stock. If stock everything is important to you, I suggest contacting the seller on BackMarket and getting a refund or something if the seller didn't specify tripped KNOX.
BTW, if I remember correctly G955N is the Samsung direct model sold in Korea, so depending on CSC and what not VoLTE might not work. Best of luck
Thanks for the reply.
So I ended up solving this with the help of a few people over on Reddit. Here's what was going on and what the solution was, for others that come across this.
The phone was running v6 of HadesROM. I guess the creator of HadesROM uses the Note8's OS build as his base for the Note8/S8/S8+, which is why the phone was showing up as an N950F. And the phone itself was a G955N, which is a Korean model.
At the direction of a few people on Reddit, I used TWRP to re-flash with the newest version of HadesROM and set the Firmware CSC properly to a US Carrier.
When the phone booted back up, the VoLTE setting was present in quick settings and works great.

How To Guide OTA update issue

Hello,
I got a samsung galaxy s22 ultra which is a USA model. I was having a concern as when i change my csc code to XAA or GCF I don't get ota updates i have to manually update my phone via odin or change my csc to carrier based ones like usc or usc then i get ota update...My phone's model number is SM-S908U and whenever i try to check firmware on sammobile for my model number it doesn't shows any firmware for XAA....
I did some research on my end and some people are saying that XAA doesn't belongs to SM-908U series of phones it is for SM-S908U1 model.....
I have attached a screenshot of my model number and csc of my phone, can anyone guide me if the firmware and model number of my phone are corrct according to the csc code n all stuff and is there any solution for that ota update problem
your firmware is correct XAA ( AIO , ATT MVNO )
for new Samsung device , if you change original CSC you will loose OTA update
GCF | USA (WORLD WIDE)
My question is that isn't XAA csc belongs to U1 model rather than U models
And for csc part when i got the phone my csc was GCF/GCF,XAA/XAA
as you can see in the picture , i'm talking abot S918U and not U1
I want to know if there is any way to check wether my device was U or U1 software initially....
Because i am javing doubt that the person who sold me this has changed the software manually
