Hi. I frequently share my Internet connection with my friends and I would like to have better control over the hotspot. Most importantly, I want to be able to see the device brand and name as well as their MAC address and I want to be able to kick devices from the network. I also want to see the data usage for each device. Is there an app or Xposed module for this?

If you're using an android phone you can set up your phone as a wifi hotspot. Settings/more/mobile network sharing. Not sure if your phone has to be rooted to do this.

Most of the time this feature is turned off by your carrier. You usually have to pay extra. But try wifi tether, barnacle from Google play there are some like pda that do not require root . good luck
Nice and easy to share celluar internet with your tablet. If you can't on your original, there is a few apps to help out with that on the play store. I perfer to use bluetooth to share the data, since it uses less battery power.
If you can't buy a Wifi/Bluetooth tethering app on your phone, you probably can on your tablet, and use a root file explorer to transfer the file from your tablet and install it on your phone. Just don't share that file with anyone else. You'll need to have your google play account on both devices, but it does work. Most Bluetooth tethering apps this way require a client and server, and don't work quite so well.
The second way you can go about it is more complex if your Celluar carrier has tethering turned off. Flash a non-tethering-blocked rom onto your phone (CyanogenMod works) and then just use the built in tethering. Bluetooth tethering this way works wonderfully.
And for both methods, might look into Tasker - an automation utility that can help set up connections when conditions are met.
But that is roughly your two options if your carrier has tethering blocked. Find an App or Flash your phone.
Good luck
Hello all,
I am looking for a way to run my android as a wireless router (not as an access point or a tether).
I am putting together a distributed app with components running on multiple devices. It works fine when I have the Wi-Fi enabled on my android and I have a wi-fi router to connect to, but I need to run this where I won't necessarily have the wi-fi router available.
Basically, I want to run a private network using my android as both my core app, and as a wifi-router/dhcp server, without allowing devices that connect to my android to have access to the internet through my device.
I've seen many apps and threads that all cover how to use the built-in access point, or how to configure the device as a hotspot, but these all discuss tethering and how to get past the limits (or snooping) of your provider and not how to set up a private network.
Is there a way, or an existing app that will allow me to set up a private network as I describe? If not, is there something I can do within my server code to enable the Access Point and disable Tethering at the same time?
Thanks in Advance
F.F.
Have you ever wanted to tether (share your network) while connected to a WiFi hotspot?
The current Android OS can only either be connected to a WiFi access point or tethering at one time, but this app will give you the capability to do both at the same time!
Have you ever wanted to share your public subscription WiFi to your friends?
Ever wanted to easily expand your WiFi to cover Wi-Fi dead zones in your home?

WiFi Router Master - Detect Who is On My WiFi
We all want to secure our WiFi Router, so no one can connect to our WiFi without owner permission, but sometimes it makes difficult to check who is connected to our WiFi. Sp, to make this task easy a app called WiFi Router Master - Detect Who is On My WiFi, by using this app you can easily manage and check who is connected to your WiFi and you can simply block them by just one click.
Do you want to know Who Use My WiFi?
Do you want to know if someone is connected to my wifi and wireless router?
Do you want to know if someone is stealing my wifi network speed without your permission?
Do you want to know if someone who is on My WiFi download something?
Do you want config your router setup page(router ip:192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 etc.) quickly?
Do you want a simple way to change router settings?
Worried that neighbors may have access to router setup page or router admin page of your wireless router?
Don't worry, using WiFi Router Master can easily scan my wifi and see how many device connected to your wireless router/network router.
You can see all the devices that are connected to your WiFi with the help of this app. From there you can choose known or stranger to allow or block the access to your WiFi connection. You can also see the network real time speed directly from the main page of the app. You will see a clear graph to get a good idea about your WiFi download and upload speed.
There are many more apps developed by me such as speed test tools, wifi analyse tools, wifi signal meter, empty folder cleaner etc. You can install them from the below links:

Download the WiFi Router App From Here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.router.manager
I really recommend this app to secure your WiFi.
Hallo
I have an Android 7 phone (Cubot Note Plus, rooted) which I just use as a WiFi Hotspot for my main phone, tablet and computers, when travelling.
The data plan I have is not that big, so I would like to know which connected devices are using how many data of my plan. Is there a way to check this?
In the data used, I only see the whole hotspot data, but not each connected device's data consumption.
Is there maybe an app to see that? Root is available, so maybe with Tasker (which is installed)?
Thanks for hints.

Now I found this answer at StackExchange:
How to view devices connected to hotspot on Android?I think this could solve my question, will try that app (Hotspot Manager...
Nothing was it. That old app "Hotspot Manager" does not work anymore, if I even get it as download from some strange sources.
I dont find any app to manage the Hotspot on an Android device like a real hotspot.
I could find the connected devices (IP, MAC) with:
Code:
ip neigh
but that was it, no managing possible.
It should be easy to write at least an app to block some devices and with root it really should be possible to get info about the traffic etc. and really manage the own hotspot.
Strange that this is so rarely needed.
More and more I use my phone (or my old phone) as Hotspot, using my 10 GB Traffic in month for other devices.
I would like to see a bit more than just that my traffic is now nearly consumed by some connected devices and so on.
Maybe I just didnt search well enough...
