[Q] Dev. Help

Hello,
I am somewhat new to xda forums and Im glad to be here.
I wanted to ask for some help regarding developing android applications and programs, as I am somewhat lost in the beginning stages of the process. I havent successfully downloaded the correct programs in order to begin so I guess if someone could help in that regard. However more importantly I would like to know if there is anyone who would be willing to be my official dev. trainer/tutor to teach me the basics so that I can actually have a chance at developing something.
I know ive seen a no noobs section so I know pros must be looking at my post like "just another noob". But I am really interested in learning and I would appreciate someones help and guidance. Thanks and I hope someone decides to help.
First of all, no one will dedicate his time to teach you. some have work/school and other important stuff to do other than teaching you.. But im sure they can offer you a minute to post here the things you need to read and answer the problems you have..
maybe the first thing to do is to list down what have you already accomplished, like what you already read about programming, about android programming and such stuff..
so that people can point you to your next step. at this point it seems that you are totally lost and dont know here to begin, and so the pros who wants to help you..
goodluck and dont lose hope..

Stating To Develop For Android?

Hello Everybody
First Off... Yes im new, But im not here to just take information and leave, i really want to get into the whole "Developer" scene
YES, I've searched the forums already, but not gotten a pin point answer.
Anyway, I'm COMPLETELY new to programming, I've read around a bit, and i know i need some java knowledge to begin with? So I'm guessing that's my
So i really don't want to lean Too Much Java than needed to android development, or too less in fact.
So im looking for some links to begin with that.
Maybe i could get a step by step list of links that i should go through to begin developing applications for the android platform.
I came across this
[Sorry im not allowed to post links, but its the "Learn Java for Android Development" Series of tutorials on "Mobile tuts+"]
But it seems like its not for the beginner, but im willing to overlook that if you think its a good starting point
Thanks For taking the time to help me

Personally, I would start as simple as possible to get a feel for the whole thing. Maybe something like this: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/android-application-development-for-dummies-cheat-.html This way you get familiar with the whole process, not just how to code.
Just my opinion. Good luck!
I did come here for the same as to be developer and here are some links to begin with the development in Android. These links will provide you insight and good basic examples and also some in-depth knowledge needed for you to develop apps for android.

[Q] Development Help

I'm a software engineering major and I would like to start contributing work to this forum as I have learned basic programming techniques and have learned about the basic android structure over the past ~1.5 years of modding android. I have all the android SDK tools and APK manager. I'm just looking for someone to help me get started into actual ROM Development. I'm a fairly quick learner so it shouldn't take too long. Any help you guys could give me would be wonderful.
Thanks a lot,
Justin
PS I think this was the right forum? If its wrong delete it/move it.
your best reference for learning like i have is to go to the chef central part of xda, they have plenty of refernce information available for beginners

I'm extremely excited about learning the ropes of getting the most out of my Galaxy!! I would like to learn first of all how to Root my phone. Also My carrier is US Cellular could someone please tell me which forum I should be in as I did NOT see US Cellular listed in the forums for the Galaxy S 3? It would also be great if someone could point me in the right direction of where I should start reading and learning the ropes of rooting my phone and another question I have is should I learn other things before I go right into learning how to root the phone? I know how to use my phone pretty well to the point where I think I'm above needing to learn the basics if you will. Any help is and will be greatly appreciated in getting started here so I can learn I'm really excited and can't wait to learn more! Until then I'll be reading through this site and learning as much as I can hopefully someone will know where I can go to get on my way to learn the good stuff about my phone!! Again I want to thank you all for the help you will hopefully be giving me it's greatly appreciated very much so!!! Thanks again!!!

If you browse around the development forums you should be able to find more information about how to root your phone and such. Many of the rom developers there have a rom that is labeled specifically for the phone. Look in the title. It should say [d2usc] for your model. Also posted at the top of the original android development thread there's a toolkit. That might have the rooting info your looking for. Also I would highly recommend looking in Android development and reading all(yes ALL) of the stickies posted there. They have a lot of helpful information that can help if you have a problem or prevent it from happening in the first place. After you've learned yourself some knowledge have some fun and happy flashing!

[Completed] I'm just starting... Any tips?

Hello there, I'm new to XDAdevelopers forums, and I'm also just starting to learn how to code/program. :fingers-crossed:
I'm planning to head for the Android application projects, and I thought I might as well ask where to start? How did you learn how to code, so that I might begin some-what like that?
I would also like to ask for some tips on which threads I should look at that are already created, if I want help?
Thanks for taking your time to read this thread, please take some time and reply too! :good:

A good starting point is XDA University. There's lots of great information there
Good luck
