[Completed] I'm just starting... Any tips? - XDA Assist

Hello there, I'm new to XDAdevelopers forums, and I'm also just starting to learn how to code/program. :fingers-crossed:
I'm planning to head for the Android application projects, and I thought I might as well ask where to start? How did you learn how to code, so that I might begin some-what like that?
I would also like to ask for some tips on which threads I should look at that are already created, if I want help?
Thanks for taking your time to read this thread, please take some time and reply too! :good:

A good starting point is XDA University. There's lots of great information there
Good luck

[Q] Where to start?

Hi im new in this forum, and have been reading alot in the last couple of days and am really impressed how strong the community is here!
In my job i had to programm microprossesors alot (in C and Assembler) and i really liked it and now i wanted to start with programming for android. But i have no ideea where to start because the knowledge here is really high... That is the reason why i have some questions
Wich thread's should i read first? (are the programms needed in that thread?)
Is there a thread where shortcuts are explained?
Or in general with what should i start?
I'm using a HTC desire HD if that makes a diffrenz.
thx for the help and sry for my english havent used it in a while
Your English is better than mine and i'm a native
The only advice i can give right now is to get your post count up so that you're able to post in the Dev sections of the forum!
Welcome aboard.
Hello and welcome to the forums
I myself am also starting to learn programming for Android and here are some good websites to get started.
http://developer.android.com/index.html
http://androidforums.com/application-development/
http://www.anddev.org/
http://www.codinggreenrobots.com/
I would also like to know if there are some books people recommend when getting started for a more structural learning and explaining things in the process.
First thanks for the quick replays.

[Q] Please help!!!!

Hello All,
Well I just want to start out by saying hello to my fellow xda freaks! I'm new here and I'm learning how to be an advanced user of my Samsung Galaxy S 3!! I'm extremely excited about learning the ropes of getting the most out of my Galaxy!! I would like to learn first of all how to Root my phone. Also My carrier is US Cellular could someone please tell me which forum I should be in as I did NOT see US Cellular listed in the forums for the Galaxy S 3? It would also be great if someone could point me in the right direction of where I should start reading and learning the ropes of rooting my phone and another question I have is should I learn other things before I go right into learning how to root the phone? I know how to use my phone pretty well to the point where I think I'm above needing to learn the basics if you will. Any help is and will be greatly appreciated in getting started here so I can learn I'm really excited and can't wait to learn more! Until then I'll be reading through this site and learning as much as I can hopefully someone will know where I can go to get on my way to learn the good stuff about my phone!! Again I want to thank you all for the help you will hopefully be giving me it's greatly appreciated very much so!!! Thanks again!!!
Look around the android development/original android development forums

If you browse around the development forums you should be able to find more information about how to root your phone and such. Many of the rom developers there have a rom that is labeled specifically for the phone. Look in the title. It should say [d2usc] for your model. Also posted at the top of the original android development thread there's a toolkit. That might have the rooting info your looking for. Also I would highly recommend looking in Android development and reading all(yes ALL) of the stickies posted there. They have a lot of helpful information that can help if you have a problem or prevent it from happening in the first place. After you've learned yourself some knowledge have some fun and happy flashing!

Learning more?

Is there anyway that I can learn more about the inner workings of Android? I'm really interested in learning the ins and outs. Rooting, modding, app developing potentially, etc. Is there anyway to start? I want to be able to do things without using tutorials and just know how to do it.

Hello, there,
First off, welcome to XDA! I hope you enjoy your time here.
Now, onto your question, I'd like to point you to XDA University. It has a large amount of easy-to-understand information about all kinds of Android things for beginners. Rooting, ROMs, app development, it's all in there. Go ahead and check out that site.
Quick note, the next time you have a question that is not specifically about the xda-developers website itself, it's best to post your question in the Q&A section instead of here, in the About xda-developers.com section. Thanks!

Sorry about the misplacement of the post.
I just want to become more fulent like most people are here on the forum. I read these forums and half the time it might as well be another language. Haha. I'll check out your suggestions. Thank you.

[Completed] Suggest a dev for photo stitching app

Hi, I'm completely new to the forum and a complete novice coder (even novice is an overstatement).
I'd like to develop an app that involves photo stitching, panoramic functions and some other cool features that can be discussed after securing an NDA.
I'm currently working on a wire frame and graphic design for buttons, icons, GUI, etc, but need someone who is good at programming these types of apps, initially for Android, later porting to iOS.
Any and all recommendations for specific individuals, dev teams or companies would be greatly appreciated. I'm an individual entrepreneur with a little capital, but far from "deep pockets", so unfortunately, cost is a big factor. Looking for best bang/buck. Thanks fellas!
Nobody care to help out a noob? It'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

Cool, thanks man. I guess I'm used to forums that are far more crowded and if you don't get an answer in a day, your post gets completely buried and likely will never get a reply. Thanks for the heads up and sorry the betting impatient.

Hey Raj, thanks, but I'm not looking to code an app myself, I'm looking for a dev that I can pay to create one. I tried to learn C++.....i didn't get much past "Hello world!" til I realized I just plain suck at coding! Lol
Sorry about that but i can't help you in this job.
You can try to ask in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257421

Thanks, but I'm getting the feeling that this forum is more for devs to discuss coding itself, and not so much find jobs coding. I think I'll try my luck on Craigslist. Thanks for the help though.
