Hi everyone I search around but couldn't find anyone talking about it.
I noticed pictures from Xz when amplified looks too sharp and not that great!
So I turned off the X realty in the settings and noticed images looks better than before.
X REALTY somehow is making picture worst!
Did anyone noticed that???

Yeh I agree , I just noticed this today when enlarging the image it was too bad tried Manual mode , 8mp and 21mp and super Auto and all was bad around eyes face ...
Thoguht it was ALBUM app problem so i installed another app and the images was much better then I remembered X realty works with Album App and not with 3d party app so I turned it off and images looked better than before...

Everyone seems to think the froyo camera (2.2) is phenomenal, but I really must be missing something, because mine sucks. This is my second G2X, and both cameras had the same issues. The biggest issue is that the focus is always slightly off, no matter what setting I choose (yes, manual setting can make the focus somewhat better, but that's not a real fix for me as I can't always be manually focusing the camera to catch a shot in time). Basically, the picture looks decent, but if you enlarge any details at all, they are fuzzy. I'm obviously doing something wrong, and if anyone could help me figure out what that is, it would really be a huge help.
Thanks in advance!
Try pixel peeping on a PC. The gallery app does not seem to render properly when zooming on the phone.

I have checked out the pics on my pc, and they're almost ALL fuzzy. Doesn't matter what the lighting was like, the setting of the phone, whether the object was stationary...they are decent from far away, but up close, not that great at all. If you're getting great shots, what settings are you using? Auto everything? Some preset scene? Or specially tweaked settings?

Try taking off the battery cover and taking a pic. If its better than you may have forgotten to take off that little liner that covers the lens or the battery door camera hole is dirty or something
Even with the back cover off the phone, the pictures look the same.
Just to make sure we're all on the same page - when I look at the pictures on my pc, they look fine, but when I zoom in at all, the pixelation is extremely obvious. I do not have this problem with pics from my sony camera (non-phone).
Are people saying their photos are good FOR A CAMERA-PHONE, or are they actually good photos?? If they are actually good, are people using special settings??
Mine are great. Do you have the settings set to very fine image quality? Also make sure you are taking them using 8mp rather than 2mp.

These are a couple of shots I just took without the back cover on the phone. Notice the pixelation. Can anyone with consistently great photos please post theirs?

bump...i also have this issue. did u ever resolve it?

that photo looks fine to me. remember this a camera phone, just because it is an 8MP camera that doesn't mean it will take crystal clear shots. A lot of the issues will come down to a poor/cheap lens, overall the camera take good pics for a camera on a phone.
Until manufacturers start using quality lenses like the new WP7 device named sea ray from nokia which uses a carl zeiss lens, pictures will not be great.

I checked out your link and it that pic looks very good to me. I do not think a camera phone is going to give you the clarity and detail a larger ccd does in a $400 digital camera.
I started using my Sensation camera and it looked like everything is ok .. but then I looked at the photos I took on the computer and there quality was pretty bad.. like my old HTC hero got nicer pics when i was watching them on the computer..
then I started looking around for review on the camera to find out if it was that bad.. but apparently the photos that i saw in the review were really nice..
and i tried to create the same invarment as in the reviews photos .. and mine still look horrible - all the colors washed out and looks like the old nokia camera phones..
i looked over the settings and it's 8 megapixels and everything set right..
some one has the same issue? or is there a fix? any advise?
thanks
Try and do a "reset to default" in your camera settings. Also make sure your lens is clean.
Hello,
I know that tipo's camera its kinda sucky.
But...., it's this image quality/settings normal? it looks a little bad imo, photos on nearer objects work better imo.
Which camera software do you tend to use? (any setting suggested for this kind of photos? daylight and from far distance).
Thanks,

you can use Lomo Camera
Apparently if you use the lens from a laser pen over the lens of the camera you can improve the image quality.

Look for the stock Android camera.
I'm using the FV-5 camera (non-free). Gives you control over sharpening/post processing options and also a "raw" mode (png).
Did sony tweak the camera on kitkat? Or is it still so terribad?
To answer my own question, sony did in fact improve the camera quality with kitkat. Though it's still not quite good. In the past it had lots of sharpening artifacts, now it does not have those. However, the edges are now fuzzy instead of being slightly unsharp...
I need some photo samples taken by Xperia M2 in full-size after KitKat upgrade.
Thank you.
After kitkat upgrade the pictures a cleaner, they don't have that black dot's any more, that was the first thing i checked after upgrade
BUT still the pictures are far from great.
ll upload some pic's when i get home.

Thank you so much.
Here is a picture with kitkat.
Hi there,
got the D6603 Z3 and compared it to my girlfriends Z2. The camera of the Z2 looks much better than from my Z3.
Thought it is the same hardware in both phones. Tried in automatic and manual mode with same settings and got a lot of frame drops on Z3. On Z2 everythings looks sharper an run smoother.
Any ideas?

do you have advanced power saving on?
Funny enough i to havent been very impressed with the camera although i never had a z2 so cant compare but i came from a htc one so expected a huge improvement! Its not bad by any means but it just doesnt seem as sharp as i was expecting! And background focus rarely works , Its alot trickier then it appears when seen in reviews!

No.
Yeah, i got the z3c. Its underwhelming for sure. Never played with a z2 say cant say anything about that. Anybody find good cam settings for their z3 (or z3c, same hardware i believe)?
Manual, 15mp, auto iso, image stabilisation off, metering spot, focus mode touch.

the Android 4.4.2 on Xperia Z2 is more stable than new 4.4.4 on Xperia Z3
it always happen for all phone that because there is firmware update
Connect you Z3 to PC companion & Repair firmware
then check the camera
+
Check both Camera (Z2 with Z3) with same setting
1. both superior mode
2. then set manual setting and compare
:good:
Funny enough I had the same problem with my Xperia Z1.
Image quality was worse than my previous Z at first but after a firmware update it was fixed.
Probably the same issue here.
In order to make the image looks better in the viewfinder,Z3 let the ISO not the highest like Z2
this change makes shutter speed slow, and fps decrease.
you can notice that viewfinder's image quality in Z3 at a low light environment much better than Z2

Hey corrallus,
Do you or anyone on here know how to make Manual the DEFAULT setting when you first activate the Camera app instead of Superior Auto? Lemme know if you do.
Thanks,
RockStar2005
I don't think that's possible yet without root RockStar2005, it is definately a big annoyance. I have ruined a few photos by not realizing/forgetting I have to keep setting manual after opening via button.
Ok thanks abhinav! The one person on xda said if you use Xperia Home Launcher it has the option on the home screen right of the default one to do this, but I use Nova Launcher, so I just have to deal with it too. lol But if you use Xperia Launcher, you may wanna read that post (#3).
I'm not really concerned with the finished product; both Z2 and Z3 produce fotos of a quality much higher than I would really need.
What bothers me, is how much the Z3 slows down to take a picture. I'm currently playing with Cyanogen 11 and the camera app launches instantaneously and takes photos without lag; neither possible with Sony; super super ultra omega mode or otherwise.
