I've searched on FAQ and all along the forums and google, but didn't find nothing.
My stock Moto G XT1033 (1st gen)'s camera stops to focus randomly.
At the first time, I just cleared out the camera cache - ok, focus works.
Next time, I tried the first approach, without succes. Soft reset - ok, focus works.
Next time 2, tried to clear the cache, soft reset, nothing. Hard reset - ok, focus works.
Next time 3, didn't want to hard reset again. Just uninstalled the camera update - ok, focus works.
Next time 4, tried to clear the cache, soft reset, re-install and uninstall camera software, and... nothing. I'm still figuring out what "magic" I will do. I'm not in the mood to hard reset again.
*I noticed that other camera apps won't focus either in these situations.
Any suggestions? Is my camera dying?

Okay So i've had my triumph for almost a month now... My camera app has had issues since I've had the phone. The Camera app (stock and any other third party btw) when opened maybe the 4th or 5th time throughout the day would just black screen and freeze. So Hit home, force close, clear data and was no cache to clear. Attempt afterwords showed the same result. Would have to battery pull for use a few times and the same result of black screen. So did a factory wipe/reset through Clockwork mod and now opens everytime. Now the issue is the touch to focus will not work under any setting. I was wondering if I reset again?, is this software? Hardware? If anybody knows it would be someone here. Thanks.

I would try installing a custom ROM on it such as CM7 (CyanogenMod 7) and if that doesn't take care of the issue then you know it's hardware. You would be surprised how much a new ROM will do for this phone.
I have managed to create some type of error on my G4. The camera app works, but when I take aa shot and I go to review it and zoom in on the shot, I no longer get the rendering I'm supposed to. I'm not exactly sure what it is that I've done, but I've lost the great capabilities of the shooter, does anyone have any ideas on how to correct my mistake?
Try clearing the data/cache for the camera app, otherwise try a factory reset.
Ive done that, I'm trying to get away without a without a factory reset. I have another G4 and was thinking about copying the camera app putting it on the system of the corrupted one, but I'm not entirely sure what to and replace.
So a few weeks after I got the phone I started getting the camera failed message. I've tried every option I've had, clearing the cache, force stopping, removing the sd card, turning off smart stay, even hard resetting the phone and using the complete data cache wipe. Finally I took the phone to samsung and they did their software update/data fix thing and it worked. For about 10 minutes my camera was just fine. Then the error came again, but not as often. I would get the error once then right after the camera would work. So for most of the day everything was just fine. However, then towards the end of the day, it's gone back to how it was before with all error with almost no successful camera app use. I had shown it to samsung again and they were just stumped. They said to try a complete wipe, but I've already done that with no success.
I bring this up because I can't find any recent threads on this issue. Also from what I've seen it's a software issue so do I just wait for a fix for RMA the phone. Everything else about it works fine. Does anyone else have this issue?

Hi, I have a problem with my front camera in the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F). It doesn't work and every time that I enter in the front camera appears the message "Warning: Camera failed"
The Rear camera works perfectly but since I've bought the S7 I never couldn't use the front camera
Here is what I have tried:
- Force Stop, Clear Data, Clear Cache, and Clear Defaults
- Clear Cache Partition in Recovery
- Factory Reset through Settings
- Factory Reset through Recovery
- Installed 3rd party camera app
- Installed another OEM ROM through Odin
- Repite everything
And the camera never work.
But.... by entering *#0*# into the dialer and picking Front cam the camera works perfectly and I can take a pictures. but through the app it doesn't work
Another thing that I can do it is, install the Dual-camera MODE and I can use the both two cameras at the same time although the front camera locks very blurry but it is another problem
I need to know if it is a hardware problem or a softwared problem. I don't know if I replace the front camera It will work.

Guys my main camera stopped working.
The process is not blocked by any other app.
I tried service menu and test camera, it doesn't perform the test, it fails.
Only way to take pictures is to use gcam v1.4 and manually choosing wide or zoom camera.
When u choose 1x camera it stays black and crashes.
Any ideas?

Have you factory reset?
I got the same problem. Just got a black screen and camera app would freeze. Did a factory reset, camera was extremely choppy for a minute or so and now back to nothing.
Tried another factory reset. It seems like if you change the default resolution settings to anything (even tapping on 'FullVision' in settings), it almost breaks the camera. Best to leave it at default 4:3 12 MP resolution.
Seems like a "driver" issue, good work LG.
Did any of you ever find a fix for this? Just got a Korean V50 Thinq and the camera is 99% of the time crashing. I tried installing gcam mods as well and they also crash, primarily while using the main camera.
Got it repaired via LG warranty. They replaced the main/motherboard. Phone has been fine ever since.
Same thing happened to my phone and warranty is expired. I tried the hard reset and may other ways, but nothing helped. Did anyone find a solution for it?
I've had this phone for about 3 months now with YahooMobile. It seems like a nice enough phone but after a month the Camera Froze. I could clear clear cache and Data cache to bring it back up again, but as soon as I switch it to front camera it froze again. The Rear camera functions fine until I bring up front again and everything has to be cleared out again. If I factory reset the OS, it functions fine for a period of time then starts freezes again. I tried watching my app installs to see if it happened for a particular app but with half the apps installed as the previous times and no new apps running camera permissions it does it again. Is anyone having this problem and found a solution?
I've sent my phone back to zte 3 times now and on the 3rd time they finally sent me a replacement phone. One week into using it, it froze on selfie camera. The first and 3rd time I sent it to them they did testing and factory reset but nothing more, insuring that the problem would return. The second time I sent it to them I factory reset it myself and they did nothing to it but send it back because they couldn't find a problem. They told me not to install "ANY" 3rd party apps on the phone.
I have the blade x1 5g too. It is a great phone except for this issue After about 2 months the screen freezes when the front camera is activated. Long press on camera icon and select photo will get out of it. Factory reset is only thing I have found that allows it to work correctly. It has not come back yet but only has been a week since the reset. Probably developer needs to intervene to add to an update?
