So a few weeks after I got the phone I started getting the camera failed message. I've tried every option I've had, clearing the cache, force stopping, removing the sd card, turning off smart stay, even hard resetting the phone and using the complete data cache wipe. Finally I took the phone to samsung and they did their software update/data fix thing and it worked. For about 10 minutes my camera was just fine. Then the error came again, but not as often. I would get the error once then right after the camera would work. So for most of the day everything was just fine. However, then towards the end of the day, it's gone back to how it was before with all error with almost no successful camera app use. I had shown it to samsung again and they were just stumped. They said to try a complete wipe, but I've already done that with no success.
I bring this up because I can't find any recent threads on this issue. Also from what I've seen it's a software issue so do I just wait for a fix for RMA the phone. Everything else about it works fine. Does anyone else have this issue?

Hi, I have a problem with my front camera in the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F). It doesn't work and every time that I enter in the front camera appears the message "Warning: Camera failed"
The Rear camera works perfectly but since I've bought the S7 I never couldn't use the front camera
Here is what I have tried:
- Force Stop, Clear Data, Clear Cache, and Clear Defaults
- Clear Cache Partition in Recovery
- Factory Reset through Settings
- Factory Reset through Recovery
- Installed 3rd party camera app
- Installed another OEM ROM through Odin
- Repite everything
And the camera never work.
But.... by entering *#0*# into the dialer and picking Front cam the camera works perfectly and I can take a pictures. but through the app it doesn't work
Another thing that I can do it is, install the Dual-camera MODE and I can use the both two cameras at the same time although the front camera locks very blurry but it is another problem
I need to know if it is a hardware problem or a softwared problem. I don't know if I replace the front camera It will work.

Try to put *#0*# in the dialer and test the camera. tell me if it works.

Hi everyone,
I have a Nexus 5, which is completely stock with locked bootloader. I am running the latest Android 6.0 with the Nov 2015 security patch.
I noticed a couple of days ago that my torch had stopped working. Also when I try the camera I get the 'Can't connect to the camera' error.
I tried clearing app cache for camera app, and this did not work
I tried clearing all cache through settings, and this did not work
I rebooted, and this did not work
I tried a 3rd party torch app, and this did not work (uninstalled)
I tried a 3rd party camera app, and this did not work (front camera briefly worked but then also errored if I tried to take a pic. Uninstalled)
I tried safe mode, in case it was a third party app causing the issue, and this did not work
I then tried wiping cache through recovery, and this did work, but only for a short time - after an hour the issue returned.
Sometime just after rebooting and then starting the camera app I get a garbled view instead of the error (screenshot attached) and can briefly switch to the front camera, but if I take a pic it errors again.
Has anyone got any idea as to what could be causing the issues?

Hello. I have a brand new GS8+ from Three UK. Problem is rear camera works for about 30 seconds and the gives me - Warning, unknown error message and freezes. Also all apps that use rear camera work and then freeze in about 30 seconds. Front camera is fine. I have tried soft, hard reset, clearing chache and data but to no avail .Even reinstalled firmware trough smart switch. Is it possible that the problem is hardware related. And if so do you believe if i go to the nearest samsung experience store they would give me a replacement as i dont want them trying to fix the phone as ive heard its very likely they will damage it. Cheers

When I open the Camera, I can use the rear camera, but if I put the front camera (Selfie mode) in the original Samsung Camera, appears: "Warning: Camera Failed". I tried to erase the data and cache for this app. Still giving the same problem. I rebooted my phone on Safe Mode and still appearing the same problem. I tried to erase the cache and data partition on Recovery mode and it still giving the same problem. BUT, if I enter on Samsung Test (I enter *#0*# in the Phone app) and if I try to test the front camera, IT WORKS PERFECTLY. I bought a new camera replacement and it still giving the same problem, but it works when I test the front camera on the Samsung Test. I tried to install from Download mode a new Firmware and always I get the same problem. I tried to run the front camera on Instagram, Messenger, Google Camera, Open Camera, and others. I can't understand what is the problem, because it works in Samsung Test.

Guys my main camera stopped working.
The process is not blocked by any other app.
I tried service menu and test camera, it doesn't perform the test, it fails.
Only way to take pictures is to use gcam v1.4 and manually choosing wide or zoom camera.
When u choose 1x camera it stays black and crashes.
Any ideas?

Have you factory reset?
I got the same problem. Just got a black screen and camera app would freeze. Did a factory reset, camera was extremely choppy for a minute or so and now back to nothing.
Tried another factory reset. It seems like if you change the default resolution settings to anything (even tapping on 'FullVision' in settings), it almost breaks the camera. Best to leave it at default 4:3 12 MP resolution.

Did any of you ever find a fix for this? Just got a Korean V50 Thinq and the camera is 99% of the time crashing. I tried installing gcam mods as well and they also crash, primarily while using the main camera.
Got it repaired via LG warranty. They replaced the main/motherboard. Phone has been fine ever since.
Same thing happened to my phone and warranty is expired. I tried the hard reset and may other ways, but nothing helped. Did anyone find a solution for it?
Does anyone here face the same issue as i have? My device is properly taken care well, havent drop even once. But suddenly my front camera isnt working properly. My back camera works perfectly.
Everytime i use my front camera. It'll just pops up then itll close the camera application.
Tried all the troubleshooting that i can do(safe mode, clear cache force stop, restart) still nothing works.
Whats even worst is that my warranty ended last dec.2020
