Hey guys im looking for a good phone for about 450 dollars max and for me there are three options atm at this price tag the Galaxy S6 , Huawei Honor 8 and Sony X performance .
Wait until after MWC 2017. Prices may drop after upcoming phones are announced. If I had to get a new phone right now for $450 or less, I'd consider the Honor 8 (only if on sale for $300), Axon 7, or Nextbit Robin ($160 on Amazon!).
Or maybe OnePlus 3T if it isn't too big. I defo wouldn't buy S6 for 450$. And dont buy used one, if so! Isnt S7 for around 500$? In Europe you can get it for 470 € off contract.

The 3T is 510 dollars and has to be imported so it may have aditional taxes and the S7 is 560 off contract . If i had the money i would have bought the S7 Edge
nope, not worth getting the s6, battery is just too small and it has a lot of minor issues with battery drain, random crashes etc, especially on the AT&T unit. You would be better of getting a One Plus 3t or any of the newer phones. Plus they might already be running or will soon get Nougat
Just bought one a couple weeks ago and it's perfectly fine. Well, apart from the battery life, which is, quite frankly, poor. Everything else is perfectly fine and the camera is still top-notch. If, however, you can get the Honor 8 for the same price, I'd recommend you get that. Apart from the camera, it's a better all-rounder. I've recently had the Xperia X Performance and would not recommend in a million years, horrible phone. Battery life is poor, camera is weaker than competitors and I had loads of performance (!) issues and bugs/crashes/freezes. Tried all resets to no avail.
I use S6 for over a year now, my wife has one too. Not looking for an upgrade yet. Screen is fine, battery still holds a decent charge and we never had any crashes etc. Have a look at 2nd hand or refurbished units too. Or check OnePlus2. Have a look around for LG G5. I have a G5 along with S6 and would have a hard time if I was told to pick just one of those 2.
I wouldn't pick the S6. It's overall an ok phone. But the battery is a joke. 2600 mAh. It will be an everlasting battle for battery optimisation and as much screen on time as possible.
But as other people as mentioned, wait until the end of the month and maybe get the S7

2550mAh to be precise.. it's definitely a no-no for 2017... there's s7 or oneplus3T.

Hi!
Well, I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 as a gift and as much as I appreciate it, I'm not a fan of the Samsung brand because of their build quality (it improved in those 2014-end devices but I'm talking about the GS4). The GS4 is being sold by the main stores at 399€ so I'm planning to sell it for 320€/350€, buy the OnePlus One and even buy a case/skin for it.
Well, trading the GS4 for the OPO is a no brainer but I am thinking in selling the GS4, get the money and save it to spend it later on a better 2015 phone.
What should I do? Should I buy the OPO, should I buy another device or should I wait? I would buy the OPO without a doubt if it was some months before but after hearing all the confusion between OnePlus and Cyanogen, CM12s being promised to around this date and still being unreleased... Should I wait for a possible "OnePlus Two"? Should I buy a Nexus device? (I currently own a Galaxy Nexus)
I need some advice
You won't get $350 for your s4, check swappa.com for me easy place to sell and to get a realistic idea of what you'll get for yours. I've had a lot of phones and the 1+1 is far and away my favorite. Dev community is excellent, hardware is top notch, great speakers, beautiful screen, awesome battery life, it's really does everything perfectly. How long do you typically keep your devices, though? If you want to keep your next phone for more than a year, I'd say to wait and see what 2015 flagships bring.
Without a doubt if your interested, buy the phone! I've recently bought a Nexus 6 and the OPO is still one of my favorite phones of all time even compared to the Nexus 6!

Nah man, I can sell it for 350/320€ without a problem. Here in Portugal mobile contracts are rare, 95% of the population buys the phones carrier locked (which means we can only use that carrier's SIM cards in our phones) and the devices are expensive. GS4 is being sold at 399€ new in the big carriers so I can sure sell it for less 50 or 80 euros.
I have my Galaxy Nexus for almost 3 years and I don't change my devices often, maybe 3 to 4 years. I also can't spend over 500€ on a device so I don't have wallet for a HTC or a LG or a high end Samsung (even though they aren't the best price/quality choices, I'm just stating xd).
I would be sad if I bought the OnePlus One today and June or July comes and "OnePlus Two" comes at the same price, with better specs and the CM12s. But I don't also want to wait until OnePlus decides do reveal or not a new device. That's why I'm asking here, to know the thoughts of the ones who bought the OPO since they sure are better informed than me.
Definitely get it. I had motorola, samsung, nexus etc I even had the LG G3 before coming to the 1+. I love it, hands down the best phone I have owned and I wouldn't get rid of it till it is properly dead.

I wouldn't be sad, theres always going to be the 'next' follow up phone, even if you buy the 'newest' it doesnt take long for a successor to come along or at least the rumours. With the Oneplus One you are still getting great value for money, stable CM11S, CM12S due shortly (definitely), along with OxygenOS and lot of other custom ROMs to pick from. Not to mention the obvious like nexus-easy bootloader unlock and root.
You can also now get a OPO relatively easy, plenty of invites knocking about or just purchase directly every Tuesday. I imagine its going to be pretty hard to get hold of an invite for the Oneplus Two when its released, as I'm guessing it will be invite only for the first while, so factor that into your thoughts around waiting time/availabilty.
I've had the Galaxy S4, HTC One M8 and Nexus 5 all within the last 5 months and overall the OPO is better than them all. Theres no added bloat, no difficulty/warranty issues unlocking the bootloader, solid stock CM and as many custom ROMs as you like and the battery life is fantastic. In terms of the nexus 5, its basically a nexus 6 for those who were underwhelmed by the nexus 6, in terms of large (without being too large) screen, great battery life (non 2k screen), decent camera and very reasonable price.
Currently have a 920I Note 5, which I bought for the equivalent of 650 USD in Singapore at new (on launch day). Now have the chance to snag a Galaxy S7 for the equivalent of 619 USD at pre-order pricing, and the market price for a used Note 5 seems to be around 600 USD in my region. Do you think I should sell the Note 5 and get the S7? Don't find the S Pen to be all that useful, definitely can live with a smaller screen, and also don't like the Note 5's battery life (I find it quite bad), as well as looong S/W update times (still on 5.1.1).
Sounds like you should go for it. Especially now when you can get the gear vr for free. Not sure if the battery is going to last longer, but at least you know the note 5's battery life isn't good enough for you and I'm pretty sure the S7 with a smaller screen and same-sized battery is going to last longer. You could also opt for the Edge with a slightly smaller screen than the Note 5, but with a bigger battery.
Yeah, the S7 Edge is the much more compelling device, but it adds another 100 dollars or so to the price, something I'm not keen to spend for marginally longer battery and slightly nicer aesthetics.
hey,
I am getting a refurbished s8+ for 33000 rupees (nearly 500$), should I buy it or wait for s9+ which is gonna cost about double the amt in my country
Do u guys think the diff will be worth it. I can even go for a OP5t.....
Is it a good buy for long term daily usage and hows the battery life and performance nowadays..ie after daily usage of months
Thanks in advance for ur replies
Samsung dont give a s for the customers and software support. Keep that in mind, S8 is already old device, they even work on s10. Battery life is pretty sad on me, but seems like the rest here have good battery life. I would say op5 or S9+ but....The first phones may be full of bugs.
Until S9 is released we don't no for certain what differences there are.
Going from rumours and leaks it would seem to be a small incremental change. although has dual camera lenses I believe.
Unless you have plenty of money to spend on a phone or must have latest Samsung phone then provided the "refurbished" S8 is in good condition it would seem good value at half price.
That said, usually there are plenty of new phone (last year flagship S8) available at much reduced price when new model is released) that may be a good buy.
Have you considered S8+, it's virtually identical apart from slightly larger screen.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Get it. It's a great device with pretty great battery life, at least for me. No point of getting S9 for double the price.
Thanks guys for ur inputs.
That dual cam and all is just a gimmick for me
The thing i would be looking at is the cpu efficiency improvements and the stereo speakers
But I think maybe those alone do not justify the price bump... Thinking of finally going with the s8+ and here in India samsung themselves are provding refurbished phobes with 6 months manufaturer warranty...so yeah should not be a issue
Thanks again for those who helped me out
So since the dawn of the S6, I've been a huge Samsung fan (and we don't need to go into why I believe that Samsung is the best, that's not why I came here), and I'm also a true Note lover because of the stylus. So my Note literally fell from a 13th-floor balcony and got destroyed, talk about luck and number 13 ?, thank god I had a complete cloud backup of my phone's data and It was just a couple of days old, so no data was lost.
I'm using an ancient backup phone I had just for now until I decide what phone will I buy, but of course, I'm not going to buy a new Note, I plan to buy a mid-range phone so that I can do all my daily tasks, I use my phone a lot at work especially when I'm out of the office for calls, emails, PDF viewing, WhatsApp and Skype besides that there's social media consumption, web browsing, some amateur photography (I'm not a professional), music streaming, youtube, 9gag and light gaming like Egg Inc. and wait for the S21 or whatever Samsung decides to name it.
So I've found out that the TCL 10L 128GB is up for $190 where I am right now so I thought that it's a good idea to buy this one considering the specs and the price.
So my question is at $190 is the TCL 10L 128GB a good phone for the tasks I mentioned above considering It'll only be used until the S21 arrival?

For that price range you could get a better phone, like the Xiaomi Poco X3. It has a bigger battery, a better processor, better benchmark scores in general. And it's around 180€, and since you're buying the next samsung, it'd be better not spending too much.

Well the Poco X3 is $285 where I am now, and I'm on a budget since I'm on a business trip in another country. That's why I liked the 10L offer because is very inexpensive considering the other phones with the same specs.
And since I need a phone ASAP and won't be using it for more than 4 months I thought it would do fine.
So If the X3 is out will the 10L do fine handling my tasks for the time being considering the price.

Great, thanks for the help.
So backstory, I found a really good deal on Facebook Marketplace for a OnePlus 8T (US Version unlocked from Amazon) for $370. It's in excellent condition, is paid off, and seems to be the unlocked KB2005 model.
Since the phone is basically half off at that price, I'm super tempted by it. However, the other part of me almost wants to wait for the inevitable OnePlus 9/9 Pro announcements in March and maybe get that one of those on launch. I also had the idea of selling my current phone or the 8T if I'm impressed by either model. That's where I thought I'd come to XDA to ask for advice on what I should do, or if anyone has other ideas!
I currently own a 6T that I got on launch in 2018 and I absolutely love it. It still works well, but being a big tech enthusiast is making me start to get an itch to upgrade soon (especially since my dad just got a Galaxy S21 and was really impressed just helping him set it up).
Thanks all!
I also was on the fence with ditching my 6T for this one, but it's quite an upgrade in almost every way. Once you experience how fluid the screen refresh is, there is no going back. I scored mine on a trade-in promo. Wouldn't pay full retail for it, tho. Seems like a really good deal at that price point. 9 series is going to be very expensive at first, so factor that in. If anything, grab 8T and see if t-mobile is going to be running trade-in promos on them (9 series). You can always sell it on swappa for more if you don't like it.

You bring up a good point there regarding trade in deals. I'd also imagine that T-Mobile is bound to have a deal for the 9 Series. I got my 6T on their original trade in deal in 2018 where you could trade the OG OnePlus One and get $300 off the 6T. It was a no brainer, since I essentially got full value for a 4 year old phone.
Do you recommend oneplus 8t or is better wait?
Hi there, unfortunately my actual phone stoped working and I came back for my backup phone.
So I'm looking for a new phone and in this moment we can find Oneplus 8t for around $500.
Do you think that is a good deal? Or is better wait for a possible oneplus 9 lite with SD 870?
After watch and read many reviews, I did a list with the principal points. Can you tell me if the list match with your real usage?
here are the good things that I observed:
+Screen
+Battery
+Fast Charger 65w
+Dual speaker
+Oxygen Os
In other side:
- Others chargers doesn't look work well
- No SD 865 Plus
- Regular camera
last month traded my Tmo OP7T (with $90 balance, so i paid it off) with Tmo OP8T, paid $0 out of pocket, and it actually lowered my monthly by $20/mo. Tmo still valued the OP7T for $750. So, new phone, lower monthly
