Quick question - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I bought the Galaxy S7 - SM-G930F.
It is not new even though there isn't a single scratch on it, so it's second hand. Knox is not tripped and it's on official firmware.
The phone works perfectly fine, but the problem is I can't access any of the hidden menus, such as:
*#0*#
*#06#
*#1234#
So there is no way I can check which country of origin is this phone from.
I only know it has some Vodafone apps, which suggests it's not my country.
The "Phone INFO ★Samsung★" application doesn't display any CSC, it's blank.
Any suggestions on what I can do to find this out?

Go to sammobile.com, search the firmware by your imei or simple use Smartswitch and try to use the option to recovery the original firmware.

Hello
I tried everything over Smartswitch and I couldn't do anything about the software with it. It only says that the software is up to date: PL2 (KZA)
As for Sammobile, I used this website a lot before, but I don't understand where would I input my IMEI to find that out?
On Sammobile I can only search by device model or CSC, how would I search using the IMEI?

Thank you very much, I will check this out and report when I can.

Is the retailer/seller able to offer any explanation? Just sounds odd to me but I'm no expert.
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

where did you get it from? where are you? Thats looks like a Chinese or Korean variant (g930fzka) of the S7. You have no CSC hence USSD codes are not working , check with seller before you flash firmware using ODin.

Quick update.
I have followed the Youtube video that Vladmir posted.
Right upon entering the Serial Number of my phone in Samsung Smart Switch, I got prompted to download:
Android: 7.0
Country: Germany (Vodafone)
PDA: G930FXXU1DQAO
CSC: G930FVFG1DQAO
So, I suppose this is the original country of origin, Germany. The seller did mention that he thinks the phone's from Germany, but he wasn't sure.
As I mentioned before, I had Vodafone apps on the previous 6.0.1 software, but no CSC and secret codes didn't work. Now again I have the same Vodafone apps but I am on newer software.
Now everything works, I have the CSC number and I am on 7.0 which is awesome.
Secret codes work as well now.

D80120d ?

I just received 2 D801's from China. One black and one white. The black one arrived with D80120a installed and it got OTA updates to D80120g immediately. No problems with this phone. The white one arrived with D80120d installed ( a screenshot is attached). I can't find any info on this version. It's as if it doesn't exist. T-mobile doesn't recognize this version, so no OTA updates coming. The LG Mobile Support Tool recognizes it as D80120d with no updates available.
I can find only 2 things missing in this version. The first is that there is no T-Mobile bloat anywhere (a good thing). The second is that there is no wi-fi calling (I need this). I guess my questions are: What version software is on this phone? Would it be safe to load a D80120a,e,g kdz with the LGFlashTool2014? I would really like to get wi-fi calling working on this. It is my wife's phone, so I have no desire to root. Thanks!
I'm in the same situation as you. Were you able to find out more? Greetings.

I could find it is that the ROM 20d is a telephone in Canada. So it is a T-Mobile USA but put a rom of Canada, so it is rooted.

I would not surprise me that the IMEI is not the mobil !!!

There is a US T-Mobile D801 and a Canadian Videotron D801. They are not the same phone. For the Canadian one look here.

Thanks diamond12 but my mobil says in the back that is T-Mobile. I bought in China and became rooted and the rom d80120d that does not exist for T-Mobile but for videotron. And he tells me IMEI on the web that last rom available is d80130b. But I still do not dare to install because I really doubt that model was originally. Greetings.

Read through this thread to make sure which variant you have. If you confirm you have a T-Mobile D801 you can use the LG flash tool to flash the latest firmware.

Galaxy s6 Duos G920F for flash

Hi, i'm neewby here, i've bought a Galaxy s6 Duos G920F, I wish to flash the rom because I'm surprised that it lacks several option from the menu that was in my galaxy s5 (could delay sending text messages, add a contact by dialing live widget) these options are not in the S6 duos that I just bought. After several hours of searching the internet, I came to realize that there were several versions of the S6 Duos (G9200, G920DF and mine the G920F)
My question is, what should I choose Roma over your experience, because I am afraid of destroying my new S6.
Here's what I found on my thanks to the app s6 Phone Info:
Phone model: SM-G920F
Device type: zeroflte
Product name: zerofltexx
Country of origin: Made in vietnam
CSC Code
Original code: THR
Firmware: THR
CSC Country: Iran
firmware
Bootloader Version: G920FXXU3COJ1
PDA Version: G920FXXU3COJ1
CSC Version: G920FOJP3COJ1
Baseband Version: G920FXXU3C
Thank you by advance.

1) Your device is not g920F, but g920FD (g920DF doesn't exist). It is recognized as g920F because they both g920f and g920fd have the same firmware g920F.
2) Those functions you need are not depended of the ROM or firmware, but of the app layer, including launcher app.
3) you can get direct contact call widget changing the launcher. For example, Nova Launcher has it. About retard SMS sending, I am sure you can find any sms app with this function.

thank you for your answer, it is true that I tried Nova launcher, it's great, there's the direct dial contact.
In fact it makes me weird to have a s6 that has fewer options than my s5 duos
If I decide to throw me to flash the rom, what can you advise me?

None custom ROM for the moment based on your reduced experience... all custom roms will lose any functionality (fingerprint, samsung pay and/or garanty if you lose knox flag, etc). As previous models, one day s6 custom roms will be better than stock roms, of course, but for the moment stock are better than custom s6 roms for standard user experience.

I undurstand, if I install a rom of another country that does not pose a problem? My old galaxy s5 duos had UAE, my current s6 comes from Iran. If I download a rom UAE, you think it is compatible? If so, I'll try several until you find a Roma who fits my needs.

I don't catch you... Why exactly do you want to change your stock rom? What rom are you thinking of? If your devive is s6 duos g920FD (not g9200), you can flash any g920F stock rom in the world with version equal or upper than it actually has. All stock roms with same version will have same functionality and launcher (maybe any rom can have more or less boatware or specific carrier installed apps), so anyway you will need to change or install a new launcher for direct call widget.

Hes thinking that flashing other country based rom, it would provide him what he wants. But a piece of advice, not all based roms G920F work with our phone. Thats because the allocated partition, hidden.img were different across other countries/csc.
It you do flashed it in odin,it would fail. I dont remember the link to S6 PIT partition where it details the correct info you need.
a big thank you for your answer because I was looking for a chance to flash rom on my s6. What can you tell me about the PIT?

I don't agree. I have read in some s6 forums that the hidden.img fail is not exactly because using a different country firmware (it would be crazy for samsung), but because using a firmware with checklist lower than current. Last firmware in, for example, Trinidad & Tobago, could have lower checklist value than last India current firmware and will fail, but because checklist, not because the different countries.
Once this fail happens, partition info will be lost and usually you will need to reflash the pit file, what could be a risk if you do it wrong because the efs partition possible losing (lost imei).

According to your questions I am sure you are not a experimented ROM flasher and samsung S models firmware structure and its partitions knower. In this case, if I were you, I wouldn't play too much with pit file if not necessary... it could delete your efs partition, what means you would lose your imeis, what means you will not be able to use your s6 as a cell phone, just as a "wifi only" little tablet. Recovering the efs partition with your original imei numbers is not easy even for a experimented rom flasher, and even worst for a dual sim device (two imeis).

If i were you, I wouldnt play with PIT. It would literally damage your phone's EFS info including imei's, serials, etc.

Yes Im fully aware that if bootloader ur flashing is older than the current, it would fail @odin. That's the second part of issue.

Isn't that model only region locked which can be removed by making a five minute phone call in the country the phone was original bought in?
I did UNLOCKED my wife's phone thru one website totally reliable from Ireland and cost me only EUR 18,50!
As mine came Unlocked straight from Vodafone (still don't know how),
I order a code to myself as well, but couldn't use it! Unfortunatelly.

Wrong software installed on phone bought on ebay

Hello, Guys! I bought an S7 from eBay and it finally arrived. I'm from Germany and after a little while I recognized that some things aren't translated and I found an entry in the settings called "United Arab Emirates". SO I think I got the wrong software on my phone. I contacted Samsung via support chat and asked them whether it's possible to install the software for Germany and they said it is not possible from their site. So I asked them whether it is possible using the download- or the recovery-mode but it is not possible from their site but I'm free to search for a solution on the internet (WTF). Can I just download a proper software from for example sammobile and install it via recovery?
Help is really appreciated!
Which version you have?
930F?
