Galaxy s6 Duos G920F for flash - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i'm neewby here, i've bought a Galaxy s6 Duos G920F, I wish to flash the rom because I'm surprised that it lacks several option from the menu that was in my galaxy s5 (could delay sending text messages, add a contact by dialing live widget) these options are not in the S6 duos that I just bought. After several hours of searching the internet, I came to realize that there were several versions of the S6 Duos (G9200, G920DF and mine the G920F)
My question is, what should I choose Roma over your experience, because I am afraid of destroying my new S6.
Here's what I found on my thanks to the app s6 Phone Info:

1) Your device is not g920F, but g920FD (g920DF doesn't exist). It is recognized as g920F because they both g920f and g920fd have the same firmware g920F.
2) Those functions you need are not depended of the ROM or firmware, but of the app layer, including launcher app.
3) you can get direct contact call widget changing the launcher. For example, Nova Launcher has it. About retard SMS sending, I am sure you can find any sms app with this function.

thank you for your answer, it is true that I tried Nova launcher, it's great, there's the direct dial contact.
In fact it makes me weird to have a s6 that has fewer options than my s5 duos
If I decide to throw me to flash the rom, what can you advise me?

None custom ROM for the moment based on your reduced experience... all custom roms will lose any functionality (fingerprint, samsung pay and/or garanty if you lose knox flag, etc). As previous models, one day s6 custom roms will be better than stock roms, of course, but for the moment stock are better than custom s6 roms for standard user experience.

I undurstand, if I install a rom of another country that does not pose a problem? My old galaxy s5 duos had UAE, my current s6 comes from Iran. If I download a rom UAE, you think it is compatible? If so, I'll try several until you find a Roma who fits my needs.

I don't catch you... Why exactly do you want to change your stock rom? What rom are you thinking of? If your devive is s6 duos g920FD (not g9200), you can flash any g920F stock rom in the world with version equal or upper than it actually has. All stock roms with same version will have same functionality and launcher (maybe any rom can have more or less boatware or specific carrier installed apps), so anyway you will need to change or install a new launcher for direct call widget.

Hes thinking that flashing other country based rom, it would provide him what he wants. But a piece of advice, not all based roms G920F work with our phone. Thats because the allocated partition, hidden.img were different across other countries/csc.
It you do flashed it in odin,it would fail. I dont remember the link to S6 PIT partition where it details the correct info you need.

a big thank you for your answer because I was looking for a chance to flash rom on my s6. What can you tell me about the PIT?

I don't agree. I have read in some s6 forums that the hidden.img fail is not exactly because using a different country firmware (it would be crazy for samsung), but because using a firmware with checklist lower than current. Last firmware in, for example, Trinidad & Tobago, could have lower checklist value than last India current firmware and will fail, but because checklist, not because the different countries.
Once this fail happens, partition info will be lost and usually you will need to reflash the pit file, what could be a risk if you do it wrong because the efs partition possible losing (lost imei).

According to your questions I am sure you are not a experimented ROM flasher and samsung S models firmware structure and its partitions knower. In this case, if I were you, I wouldn't play too much with pit file if not necessary... it could delete your efs partition, what means you would lose your imeis, what means you will not be able to use your s6 as a cell phone, just as a "wifi only" little tablet. Recovering the efs partition with your original imei numbers is not easy even for a experimented rom flasher, and even worst for a dual sim device (two imeis).

If i were you, I wouldnt play with PIT. It would literally damage your phone's EFS info including imei's, serials, etc.

Yes Im fully aware that if bootloader ur flashing is older than the current, it would fail @odin. That's the second part of issue.

That's probably because HK version is that of 16GB.
i don't believe anything to do with the memory size , i did flash too many phone in the past from HTC One 64g to 32g and even nexus devices and even s3 32g and 16g s4 too
never was a problem before , i am sure something to do with the Built or kernel , i might be wrong .but always Asia was challenging when come to flash it via odin

I think we need to do a copy of our ROM for the developers to be able to modify.
I frickin' hate Samsung for releasing 16GB here in HK.

Try this site. It's in China but they offer free shipping to HK, takes about 3 days from stock. I have bought two chargers and two wireless charger interface panels from them for my Note3. All work ok.

Ouch Sorry, I didn't read your post completely. You have the THICK Battery no? The only issue I can see at the moment is if the 3 gold contacts on the receivers will be able to make contact with the three contacts in the phone. I am assuming the thick battery is slightly higher then the normal battery when placed in the phone..hence your calling it Thick Battery.
Since the receiver goes on top of the battery, between the rear case, this means it is higher up and this in turn raises the contacts from the receiver.
Are you using the SView Cover or just a case for the back? If it's a case for the back, then just put some extra padding over the receiver contacts so that when the cover is on it will push the contacts for the receiver down on to the phone contacts.
If it's an SView Cover you will have to do some fancy thinking with your padding cause the contact points need to also touch the covers contacts in order to work. Don't short them!
Good luck....let me know how the SKU: 275434 Black one works. It has and extra 2 contacts on the top which go over the NFC antenna. When you use these receivers, they block NFC signals on the whole.

Check out this post in XDA. You should be able to get your device's PIT or at least find ways to get it with ADB.

Officially, but once we forget about keeping Knox and go "ROGUE" we have more choices!! But only for the brave or knowlegable!!:silly:
ZHU won't allow google or it's apps and many people rely upon them!
Until someone finds a way to kill knox without tripping it (especially for the HK rom) I'm gonna wait until my warranty runs out then I'm gonna root it!
Guys
Can you please tell me place to go in HK for Mobile gadgets covers etc
wholesale & retail also
will be traveling soon

Hi all,
I recently travelled to Hong Kong for a holiday and purchased a grey imported Note 3. I'm loving this phone!
I was glad that I managed to find this thread. I want aware that I can't flash other countries' firmware if my phone is ZHUxxx. Is this definitely still the case? I was going to flash the UK BTU firmware today after I rooted the phone last night.
Also Dabgoo, you mentioned that ZHU won't allow google or its apps. What do you mean by this? My phone came with Google apps (maps, search, google+ etc). Are there other apps that I'm missing that I should have?
Btw, happy new year to all!

Yeah I got my phone from Hong Kong too. It's based on ZHUDMK1 firmware, and running all Google apps too just like you said. I am also interested in whether if possible to flash other countries firmware on this device. I had Note GT-N9220 (Hong Kong version of Note GT-N7000) before and could flash international firmwares on it but still doubtful about Note 3. Please let us know if you could succeed flashing international firmwares and drop your preview here. Thanks.

Sorry, my mistake, I using a Dual sim, N-9002 should have pointed that out. If you have the single sim N-900 or N9005 you should be able to flash other roms without a problem, as long as you make sure the rom is for your model phone.
I think that ZHU is the country code for CHINA roms. Official HK dist should have TGYXXX as their firmware.
Hong Kong although now part of China has DIFFERENT ROMS. For my ZNU ROM google apps was not installed on my phone, China Mobile Vesrion, N-9002, and I couldn't install at all, blocked. Had to root phone, then install the apps myself. My ROM is ZNUDMK1.

Flash ROM for N915G

Hi, I use a note edge N915G (Australian vodafone) , but I have found that it is very hard to find a custom made ROM for this model, so I wonder if I can flash a custom made N915F or N915S ROM for N915G note edge? Thanks in advance.
Todd
From what I can gather so far no you can't sadly. But I would gladly accept someone proving me wrong lol
915S most definitely not as it is for exynos. You need Snapdragon rom...
The 915F rom might work but you would need to have a custom recovery and re-activation lock off(unticked) or you could end up with a brick... Just make sure you have you're stock rom ready to flash in case you need it...
Samsung removes the region lock from the Note 3 to put in different models per region for the Note 4/Edge to stop the grey imports.... Real Sh!theads aren't they...

I've been doing a little research on the hardware specs of the g model and the t variant. From what i can see, it looks possible, just on the surface that is. I've also read that people have flashed different region firmware with no probs too, this was mainly for language options, but they report all functions working. So i'm gonna have a crack at it tonight. I've done my Nandroid back up, so i believe i am safe to go back.
I'll report findings a little later.
Samsung Note Edge Australia.
Ok just boot looping. Not good
I'm also interested, more importantly with the release of CM12 for Note 4. Just wondering what happens when you flash a Note4-ROM over a Note Edge. Apart from brain implosion or explosion, do you guys think it's remotely possible?
you can not flash SM-N915S for example to SM-N915G it will fail , if you are SM-N915G you Can flash all SM-N915G Roms even these made for different region

Should work but you will loose your Edge notifications... I tried to replace the Aircommand menu with a custom one from the Note 4 but it wiped out the Edge notifications - replaced the framwork-res.apk file...
The Note 4 has the same specs as the Edge except for the screen. so it should be possible, however be VERY careful as this is an expensive toy to brick on a possibility...
And of course you can't flash a 915S rom, it's an exynos CPU. The 915G is a Snapdragon CPU, however, you should be able to flash a different region rom for the Snapdragon CPU through a custom recovery as long as the partition table doesn't need to be flashed too...
neckabutu, it would have to be a modified stock rom... Unfortunately it won't be flashed through ODIN like other phones can do but through TWRP or CWM...

sounds really tempting. Do you think one could perhaps flash a Note 4 ROM (i'm thinking more of the CM12 rom), and add specific .apk such as the cocktail service applications and it's related frameworks manually back to the Edge so that the edge screen works again?

As I said I'd be really careful doing this. If you're interested in trying though I would suggest the same region rom. If you have the n915g then use an n910g rom.
Best chance for recovery. Also, and this is a must, have a nandroid backup on external storage in case of bootloops.
Might be all the difference between a brick and a working device...
I found the custom n915fy rom just bootloops.
Bloody Samsung and their quest to stop grey imports... As it's my device I should be able to put what I damn well like on it without their interference, and buy it from wherever I want.

Some basic questions about the build versioon s6

Hello,
I'm new to samsung smartphones. My s6 model is G920I and build version COF8. CSC is THL. Now I saw on the forums that you cant flash firmware built for other build numbers on a different build number phone. Why is that ? What is conflicting here? I'm just curious to know if its possible to flash any firmware in my device regardless of the build number . Thanks !
This is a VERY basic question. You cannot flash firmware from a different type of S6. I.e. Flashing AT&T firmware on a T-Mobile phone. It will screw up the phone, possibly even brick the phone turning it into a nice expensive paper weight. Stick with the firmware made for your phone,DO NOT try to flash another firmware to you're device that's not made for it.

Just like PS4AndroidHacker said, don't flash your Samsung phone when it doesn't have the same buildnumber.
I did it once and my wifi-toggle got stuck in an off-position.
Just like 1080p videos in Youtube or the browser u use, they will stutter and eventually crash your beautyful S6

A Galaxy s6 with edge firmware D: !!!

Hi guys!
This is my story
I bought a Galaxy s6 today in japan akihabara, a "sim free" phone..., I was checking the phone at a restaurant and I found that this cell have a edge firmware
The number model is: SM-G9250
but the real model is: SC-05G
At the moment works fine, but I would like to root it with a real S6 firmware, not a edge firmware...
Do you have any information which firmware can I use? I need it sim free.
Thanks!!
pd: I don't want a iphone, please help :'(

The firmware must match the device variant of the S6 when flashing. Flashing another modem or bootloader will cause a soft brick. I'm not sure how the edge firmware got flashed onto a S6 but flashing another variant of firmware onto a different phone will DEFINITELY cause soft brick.
Then find a SC-05G Firmware. I dont know if sammobile lists that.

Is there a way to figure the country?

Why you need the country... It doesn't matter . flash any F rom or firmware and you're OK !
