Emoji (Unicode 9.0) - WhatsApp vs GBoard - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Currently when using WhatsApp I don't have access to the new set of emojis that were released last year. When people send them to me in WhatsApp they're rendered as GBoard emojis plus extra noise like squares and women symbols.
If I use the GBoard emoji settings I can send them but they're rendered as the Google versions and not the WhatsApp ones, and even when sent as a single emoji WhatsApp doesn't enlarge it like it does the ones available from within the app when tapping the smiley face icon to the left of the text entry box.
WhatsApp have said that this is nothing to do with them, it's all down to the phone. Is this correct? The phone seems to have the ability to display them through GBoard but I'm wondering why not through WhatsApp as native apps. Is there a way to get the Unicode 9.0 characters into WhatsApp without rooting my phone?
Thanks.

whatsapp just rolled out a beta update through the play store , including new emojis and updating (some? i don't think they reworked everything) existing ones

Texting With Smileys

I tried texting and adding smileys. The person got the text but no smiley. WTF is with that? Just using Hangouts SMS
I'm assuming you're using the android emojis. If you're texting someone with the emojis who doesn't have an iPhone or android 4.4, they won't see it. These emojis are implemented in the system so older versions of android might not have them, granted that they do have SOME black and white emojis.

Activate Emojis System Wide?

I was able to get iOS emojis flashed onto my N5, but im not too sure how I can activate it throughout my WHOLE phone, FB, Twitter, IG, etc. There aren't any options to use Emoji in Textra or Twitter.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Get a keyboard that supports them. Many do. At the moment I'm using Kii.

Okay, so I'm assuming you've downloaded the Emoji app already...
Just follow the instructions hope it will work out for you.
To enable the Emoji keyboard, go to Settings > General > International > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > Emoji.
And to use it when you type, click on the little icon with the globe on it to switch keyboard, and then use.
Kindly go through this

The Google keyboard has emojis built in if you long-press the enter key. The AOSP keyboard does not!
Here's one of the places where you can find the google keyboard

Multi-part SMS

So the one thing that is annoying me on the G3 using stock SMS app is that if somebody sends me a long SMS that is split into multiple SMS's, sometimes the arrive out of order. On my old Galaxy S3 these messages came in as a single MMS, thus being one single message that was not out of order.
Anyone know of a way to change this? I do not want to switch messaging apps because I like all of the features of the stock messaging app.
Unfortunately, it would appear that sending long text-only messages as MMS is not supported by the stock messaging app.

I wonder if anyone has looked inside the stock messaging apk for settings like this. That was how the samsung messaging apk was modified.

Even the G3 Tweaksbox, an Xposed Module which can reveal the option to disable the screen wake for messages, doesn't have such an option.

Samsung Keyboard v 2.0.21.26

Since the last update of Samsung Keyboard, I am not being able to have a Emoji Key on keyboard while replying from Notifications. Whether it is Message, Whatsapp, etc. there is no Emoji Button on the keyboard. In order to add Emojis I have to go to the app itself.
Is anyone else having the same issue???
Still no luck! I guess no one is having the issue.
Using gboard... sorry
When you're trying to answer from the notifications, you'll not be able to use emojis. Emojis will be available just in apps and not in quick reply.

Android 11, Messages Chat Bubble

I have a Pixel 3a, and I updated to Android 11 yesterday (official release) OTA update. My phone is completely stock with Developer mode enabled. I noticed that in the notifications for Messages I do not have the option to break it out into the chat bubble (similar to Facebook Messenger). I verified in the notifications settings that I have All conversations can bubble. I am running Google Messages 6.4.044. Has anyone else run into this yet?
Thank you!
I have bubbles enabled and I don't see the option to make text msgs turn into bubbles either. Neither does FB Messenger show the option.
On top of that, everytime I click on the search bar of any Google app, a small text bubble appears which says "null". Weird a** bugs
Edit: Installing Messages Beta fixed the issue for me. It enables bubbles.

Thank you! If the beta is stable, I'll go that route.
Hi,
Same issue for me regarding bubbles with message and whatsapp.
Bubbles are disabled by default (Messages) or only for selected chats (FB Messenger). So you have to enable first by yourself. Everything is working fine here if enabled properly in the settings.
Bubbles are allowed on my p3a, but I don't see them. I've just installed Messages BĂȘta and same issue [emoji53]
Edit: precisely I have small bubbles at the top of the screen (as notifications used to be previously but different colors) and I'm unable to move them on the screen and to keep them active (like fb messenger)
For those who have the issue, you're not alone
There is a 400+ posts thread on google assistance forum.

Bubbles seem to work fine for Telegram, Google Messages after upgrade to beta and the easter egg cat.
However FB messenger and WhatsApp notifications show no bubble activation icon.
