I am playing starwars galaxy of heroes app. and it has some uses for the game to stay open. But as soon as i multi task the game gets shifted out of the processes somehow.
Is there a way to change this so i can let this app stay open untill i deem otherwise (appkiller or whatever)
I dont wish for it to restart. When i do my raid sometimes i have to wait 1 hour to post my actual damage in the app.
So that would leave my Shield K1 tablet unusable for other things, like chatting or other games in the mean time..
Hope someone knows the answer!

Anyone? surely this must be possible

The game probably takes so much resources that android has to kill the game to free up resources for the other apps you open. You need a way to trick it into using other resources or killing other processes instead.

I'm not sure you should modify anything to prevent this because you'll have to modify the native android task killer, you'll probably cause more issues than this is worth.
I suggest you deal with, it's not worth screwing your device up, it's JUST a game, it can't be that important.
Since this is most likely due to your device having limited RAM, there's probably nothing you can do that would truly be effective without interfering with vital processes that your devive requires.
The simple solution would be to play the game on a secondary device such as a phone you aren't using or a tablet. Then you can play your game on one device and do all your multitasking on the other. Or buy a device with more RAM.

For me it is that important. it is mainly why i even use this tablet. I spend hundreds of dollars on this mobile game.
It's a hacked device. this is silly. surely you can have controll of your processes which it kills or not??

Yes, it can be done, but on a device with limited hardware, you already don't have enough RAM to go around, some of your vital processes probably can't run at the same time that the game is, you can't get blood from a stone. Get it?

Well isnt this forum with knowledgable people. Ive got enough ram to run this game. often just as soon as i switch out of focus it exists because yes it may use quite some memory. but by no means im out of memory. i check this with an advanded task manager. Often I have more then half of my ram still available when the app is open.
Surely there must be a way to "lock" a process in with all the modding going around here.

Yes it runs linux but taking care on the battery and space is needed for good responsiveness from your mobile on multitasking.
I found the program alright, if not a little battery draining. But turning off the seemingly-hourly backups and just doing them manually every so often helped, and I managed to locate my phone in somebody's pocket at a party

its better to be safe than sorry. there have been viruses that have spread on android phones (ex. droiddream)
the gps location and scream features are worth it.
Any antivirus isn't so worth using as an antivirus YET, but in a few months/years, they will be our saviours. See...right now there aren't many malware around that can harm you if you don't root your phone or download untrustworthy apps. But there will be soon, as for example a serious one called "Droiddream", discovered not so long ago.
(Can't post outside links yet, but just google "Droiddream" and you'll have a read at how bad viruses will get in not so long)
If you're careful with what you download on your phone, you should be fine. If you're constantly trying new apps and downloading various things you might want to at least have a slight peace of mind!
It's hard to be careful with what you download if the Android Market itself spreads malware. So yes, use an antivirus app just in case that trustworthy app from the market turns out not so trustworthy after all.
I have started playing around with Gamestring a couple of days ago. I spent a number of hours re-installing Bioshock and Gears of War to see what would happen...nothing. Gamestring will probably need a games compatibility list more so than. "If the game renders in Direct X" is not enough.

The Gamestring forum are very new and has very little info for the user to troubleshoot issues with app, connection or setup. I thought this would be a good place to ask. "Has anyone been able to stream a game from gamestring to Xperia play."

Sorry. Adrenlin Gamestring is an application that allows you to use a host computer to run a game ex: WoW(World of Warcraft) then capture the game and broadcast it to your device. Similar to OnLive but using your PC as the host and your own games to broadcast. There is an open beta at:
http://adrenalin.gamestring.com
I have had little success with the app. It seems that games have to render in DirectX 9 no higher. Still testing.

The advantages are, this app was designed to stream games rather than being a remote desktop app (like splashtop) so it "should" offer much higher framerates.

Similar to Splashtop, but purposefully built for gaming. I assumed, based on the graphics used on the site that they are aiming at the Xperia play crowd. I have tried both Gears of War and Bioshock, but neither has worked. The service doesn't seem to "hook" the game properly even in DX9 mode. The mouse does seem to move the mouse on the host but no audio or video.
The plus. The possibly of playing emulators like dolphin or or other games that I already own for free on my phone.
The down. (Besides the fact I can't get it to work! LOL) The service requires WIFI no 3g and no analog support yet.
Oh cool.. but i totaly lose interest when you say Wifi-only. Why? I rather sit by my xbox or my computer if i wanna play those games. Why play it on a small screen when you can play it on your TV or computer screen?
And i guess that it doesn't work with another wifi-connection then your own, because you stream your game.. am i right?
So yeah.. cool thing.. but so not usefull IMO
Wifi only sometimes isnt bad, say for instance your in a bg and suddenly you have the urge to have a crap. Load this app and go poop. Its good enough to keep you from getting flagged as away in game. Basicly this app replaces the piss bucket for mmo junkies
I have heard that the WIFI is a deal breaker for a number of people. I kinda feel the same way. Since I am not a big WoW player, I thought it would be a good way to play the rated M games that I don't wanna play in front of the kiddies.
And even IF it should work via 3g, it would fry up your phone bill like crazy anyway so haha ^^

Yea dungeon defenders works I was talking about other games like soulcraft thd or any other game in tegra zone they all say isn't compatible and want to know if there's a way around that?
U would have to get the apk file and install it from the phone if its a paid app i cant help u use google
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
well i can tell ya the tegra an normal versions of shadowgun do not work on the sidekick the phone ends up rebooting in random spots of the game (low memory issue i beleave)
I think chainfire fools the market into thinking you have a tegra based phone, but it doesn't fix the limitations of the graphics chip. I could be wrong, but I haven't gotten many of those higher end games to run very smoothly with or without chainfire. Overclocking helps a bit but not enough to make them playable IMO
Have any off you guys used swapper2?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
I have no problems running shadowgun with not slow down or lagging at all.
I tryed all the plug ins and opened market and it still says incompatible for souldcraft THD. If anybody has any other ideas on how to make it work. Thanks for any help!
I wouldn't say shadowgun is laggy for me its actually really smooth up until a point BAM phone reboots >.< done on stock rom an GO v2
The reboots you are experiencing from apps with a large footprint (such as Shawdowgun) are due to the device running short on memory.
Android has a great deal of trouble stopping threads labeled as services. Try uninstalling apps that insist on using services in the background. These services are able to hold on to valuable (and scarce) memory. ALso, be careful of using memory managers to shut down apps without warning. This can leave hanging pointers to memory. Put simply, this memory becomes useless because the Android memory manager (garbage collector) has no idea that it can free the space for other uses.
Constantly killing apps without allowing the OS to do its work will eventually cause the phone to crash and reboot due to issues with memory handles.
You could also be having trouble with some badly coded individual apps. Let's be honest, there is no quality control on the market. There are many poorly coded apps that have memory leaks.
Chainfire 3d is a great idea and a good start if you plan to run an app like Shadowgun on the phone. With the texture size reduced and locked in 16 bit, it can (and does) run without incident on a properly modded KJ2 device.

You might try changing the phone's id and the OS in the build.prop. You may be able to fool the software into booting up that way. There's no guarantees after that...
I don't consider the Sidekick to be a complete slouch, but it isn't a powerhouse either... and this is Froyo..

i have been toying with this idea for the last few years. neptune suite had this concept to run android from a smart watch onto "dumb" screens. would there be a way to use LTE to run a OS from a home server? if the speeds wouldnt be fast enough would doing it locally be possible? would it need 5g speeds?
the reason behind this is the low life expectancy behind phones today. this could be a possible solution to run android on a computer/server that you can upgrade over time. it will host the os to any "dumb" screens.
im more curious if anyone knows if this is possible technically.
Thanks!

Now that i think about it maybe a better comparison would be how chrome os runs on a computer. can you do that with android but 100% of the entire os ? and instead of google hosting it, i host it from my own server.

You can host anything installed on PC, you use an emulator on the PC to run a full android OS on PC then use one of the various apps for remotely accessing PC.
With that you can run Android on PC and view and use it from your smartphone.

i have a Pi for this application i would want something which all the components are upgradable. and something i could bring with me and carry in a backpack.
can you think of any way to accomplish everything that a modern phone provides without having to get a new phone every(or every other) year? you can get a pc or a playstation, or tv or many other things and easily be comfortable using it for 5+ years. but not phones. i often brainstorm about different ways to make this happen. even if its stupidly complex and diy. just fun to think about

I can't really see it being that feasible without upgrading to a newer phone as time goes by. Mobile hardware/software evolves faster than PC these days. After a few years, a mobile device can't keep up, even with the setup you are looking for because in the end, you're still trying to do everything from a mobile device, no matter how you loop it, you're still on dated mobile hardware.

Hello,
I am here today to share my idea for a mobile operating system, perhaps a derivative of android or its entirely own thing.
The operating system would have a very simple interface. A background (of the users choosing), and in the foreground would be the users apps. The apps would be circular and settings would be simple to understand and wouldn't take up a zillion pages.
It could go 2 ways as well, 1 way being what I already stated and the other following more of a feature phone where you can't put apps on it, you only have the basics but with a touch screen device.
This operating system would be designed for absolute simplicity in every way as it is primarily targeted at old devices with limited power (or just not as much power as today's devices), it could also be placed onto new devices if there became a demand for it but it is primarily targeted for old devices.
I'd attempt to develop this myself but admittedly I have very little knowledge when it comes to code.

Just put a theme, and organize your apps
Sometimes I just wish smart phones can be like pc.. Install the os, load in drivers.. And it'll just work.
Unfortunately it doesn't. In order for the os, in this case Android to work, it needs to be able to access the hardware via drivers. It is not able to load all the required drivers used by so many phone manufacturers each having its own design. From processor to sensors, to have a generic one. But if u include all into the firmware, it will just be very slow.

I see. Well, I thought I'd put the idea out there.
Putting a theme up and organizing apps doesn't speed up a device that's old. Haha.

Like living things, electronics have an age too. As you use it, it ages, sort of like wear and tear.
Things like heat and heavy usage makes it age faster.
The closer you are to its lifetime, the slower it gets.
Having a lighter rom will help but not by much, and will only get worse.
Best remedy, is a new phone.

Usually in older phones such as note 3, when it gets sluggish a factory reset tends to fix it for a few months before getting sluggish.
If it's sluggish even after a factory reset, I'm sorry it's the hardware that aged and there is nothing you can do about it.
Is like getting an old athlete to run. Even a flagship phone or Olympics gold medal runner can't run as fast anymore.
