I have started playing around with Gamestring a couple of days ago. I spent a number of hours re-installing Bioshock and Gears of War to see what would happen...nothing. Gamestring will probably need a games compatibility list more so than. "If the game renders in Direct X" is not enough.

I was hoping someone else in this forum had played with the application and had a better experience than I did. Or maybe someone has a few tips for game compatibility. The Gamestring forum are very new and has very little info for the user to troubleshoot issues with app, connection or setup. I thought this would be a good place to ask. "Has anyone been able to stream a game from gamestring to Xperia play."
Start by explaining what Gamestring Adrenalin is?

Sorry. Adrenlin Gamestring is an application that allows you to use a host computer to run a game ex: WoW(World of Warcraft) then capture the game and broadcast it to your device. Similar to OnLive but using your PC as the host and your own games to broadcast. There is an open beta at:
http://adrenalin.gamestring.com
I have had little success with the app. It seems that games have to render in DirectX 9 no higher. Still testing.

The advantages are, this app was designed to stream games rather than being a remote desktop app (like splashtop) so it "should" offer much higher framerates.

Similar to Splashtop, but purposefully built for gaming. I assumed, based on the graphics used on the site that they are aiming at the Xperia play crowd. I have tried both Gears of War and Bioshock, but neither has worked. The service doesn't seem to "hook" the game properly even in DX9 mode. The mouse does seem to move the mouse on the host but no audio or video.
The plus. The possibly of playing emulators like dolphin or or other games that I already own for free on my phone.
The down. (Besides the fact I can't get it to work! LOL) The service requires WIFI no 3g and no analog support yet.
Oh cool.. but i totaly lose interest when you say Wifi-only. Why? I rather sit by my xbox or my computer if i wanna play those games. Why play it on a small screen when you can play it on your TV or computer screen?
And i guess that it doesn't work with another wifi-connection then your own, because you stream your game.. am i right?
So yeah.. cool thing.. but so not usefull IMO
Wifi only sometimes isnt bad, say for instance your in a bg and suddenly you have the urge to have a crap. Load this app and go poop. Its good enough to keep you from getting flagged as away in game. Basicly this app replaces the piss bucket for mmo junkies
I have heard that the WIFI is a deal breaker for a number of people. I kinda feel the same way. Since I am not a big WoW player, I thought it would be a good way to play the rated M games that I don't wanna play in front of the kiddies.
And even IF it should work via 3g, it would fry up your phone bill like crazy anyway so haha ^^

Hello Guys .
I have a question to smart guys , about playing counter strike on HTC HD2 .
Is there any chances to get well working counter strike on HD2 ?
For controll we can use dualshock 3 ( cobaltcontroller ) , for example left analogic stick for walking , right for aim .
I think it could be nice

+1 On this!
BTW, do you actually have Counter Strike running on your HD2? If so could you kindly point me to instructions on how to get it working? Counter Strike has always been an awesome game!
It most likely wouldn't be possible to do this, since it would require windows XP, and running any thing that intensive in an emulator would produce undesired results. This sounds awesome, but unless they can port this over fully and then have some way of connecting to steam this wouldn't work. Which I doubt anyone can port this over fully, since the phone has completely different hardware than regular computers, because of course its a phone.

Yeah, I thought so. I knew it seemed kind of far-fetched to be able to get such a game ported. Oh well. Well at least reading this thread helped me find out about the Cobalt Controller App. I had been desperately seeking an app to pair a PS3 controller with my HD2! Yippee!

Looks promising. It says you should be able to use it with FPSECE too! I can't wait to try this out!
And why wouldn't you be able to run Counter Strike without XP? I used to be able to run quake 3 on my Fuze and I'm sure I can make it run on the HD2 the only real reason I haven't tried in the lack of a hardware keyboard. Since the Sony controller is now working I might start looking into again.

It's nothing I'm really concerned with and since I don't have a Sony controller I don't think I'll be working on it anytime soon. If you would like to try and give it a run just do some searches for Quake3 and you will find all the info you need.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your post. I thought you were talking about Counter Strike. I haven't tried Q3A with the HD2 yet either, but I do have it on my Nexus One, and play it with the Wii Remote, and I also have it on my N900. I really don't need another device to play it with. Two is enough for me.

Because the Quake3 you played on your Fuze was the exact rip of Quake3 on the computer, right?
It's called PORTING. Some of you need to look this up...
And your point is? Like I said I do not exactly know how CS works but the last I remember it was pretty much the same thing as Quake 3. Yes the Q3 I was playing was a rip from my computer. I don't see why the same thing couldn't be done with CS though. Is there something I'm missing about why it couldn't be done.

Your original Quake3 wasn't coded for the WinCE platform...and neither was CS 1.6. Get a clue.
My point is that simpleton like you guys shouldn't be too narrow-minded as to how gaming on the HD2 works. Unless you're a programmer (which by your posts indicated that you don't have any clue), you can't just assume that everything you play on the computer will work on the HD2. Different hardware and different software would be some of the early indications. Porting requires a great deal of time, effort and expertise to be able to translate windows 9x kernel to winCE.
...and No, your Quake3 that you played on your Fuze is not a direct rip. Unless you're retarded.
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about a justin.tv or twitch.tv app?
All I could find was a kinda dusty thread on the twitch.tv forums.
Probably the only thing I really miss having on WP7, gotta have my fix for Starcraft 2 streams and others. I remember ustream had an app, but it was pretty awful and I can't even find it anymore.

i guess it is because the streams that justin tv handle are flash-based. Someone correct me if im wrong. I donĀ“t know about the stream protocols on ustream, but since wp7 has no support for flash, a workaround is needed... even though, there are apps for sites like the old megavideo, i guess an app like that is a start point in terms of code...
Our last hope would be to wait until the release of windows phone 8, where there'll be support for native code. In that case it will be easier for someone to code such app...
But like you i certainly hope that this arrives soon to wp7 cuz i love to watch my favorite channels on jtv too and i'd love to be able to watch them while in the subway, when going to, or from work... cuz i do almost 2 hours daily just on transport

This phone is awesome. I have yet to see any posts showing interest in their phone, beyond changing ROMs like its a disease.
I recently found out I can use 'Six-Axis controller' to connect a ps3 controller to my phone and effectively have a portable n64 console with me. All I need to do now is find a Conker's Bad Fur Day or Banjo-Kazooie ROM.
I recently found out about LCD density changing and messed around with it a lot. 180 makes our Skyrocket look sexy. (But now I'm experiencing market compatibility issues so I need to look more into it).
I like organization, so SD-Maid was a nice find and I'm going to learn Titanium Backup to increase my battery life. Just need to find a freeze list.
I found the site My ColorScreen so theming will be a task soon undertaken, as soon as the necessities are figured out.
So come on, share some cool things about your phone. Whether it's a cool Llama task you made, new homescreen setup, an app you think people should know about, a ROM you like (AOKP + CM9, thank you guys), or an important tip you should know (I didn't know Titanium Backup could restore my folder settings in Nova Launcher, that would have saved time).
Be a little positive guys.
Why is it that an incorrect, naive post about an OTA update for Skyrocket can get two pages instantly full of people *****ing about how useless the thread is (then don't reply to it smartass).
While a thread with the capacity to help people find some cool things about their phone gets nothing.
I hear the app "LCD Density Modder Pro" can fix the market compatibility issues. It's a paid app though.
Any more info on the six-axis controller and how to use the phone as a "portable n64"? That sounds interesting!
Edit: Ah, a little bit of googling answered my question about that six-axis controller.. didn't realize it was an app. Makes sense now. Which N64 emulator do you use?
I don't root my phone but I love it to death! I also agree that negative posts get more responses than US news media stories.
That being said I love that flipboard app and I'm going to be buying a new Samsung LED TV. I've heard that we can turn our phones into remote controls for the actual TV, if not yet its on the horizon.
I also use mine for web browsing mostly and I'm looking for a cool app like MATLAB based or something that has Physics and Calculus formulas all over. I hope this thread gets going. Mad thanks to the OP. This is the first thanks I've used.

I currently have a Samsung TV, and it's true that we can use our phone as a remote control, as long as your TV has wifi and you connect your phone to the same network. You'll just need the app conveniently named "Samsung Remote" lol. It's free in the market. Works for their blu-ray players too I think.

Mupen64AE, pulled for free from the developers site here. You just run sixaxis and start the emulator, then map the buttons (less than 10 seconds) and you're good to go. Emulators were always a cool idea to me but they didn't translate well for certain games, but honestly with the analog sticks and actual triggers its a perfect experience.

Was told by a friend a video was on YouTube showing guy with xbox emulator on android ,didnt believe but then saw this. damn I cant post links yet but go to YouTube & look for (xbox emulator for android proof & install apk) or look for tayvaun09 & you will see the videos ,now is it really possible I read something where drk himself said you could actually make an emulater for any console but it just doesnt make sense to go past dreamcast for now cause phones cannot come close to anything past that console at this point in mobile hardware ,the guy in video says gameplay will come later this month but that its slow as hell ,but its great to know emulators can be made so easily for android all we gotta do is wait for phones to get better and we will be playing xbox & ps2 in no time what yall think

Yeah, running COD on 1ghz processor with 512mb ram xoxo
This actually looks quite plausible. The guy on Youtube said it's just a POC, and that the hardware needed to run the xbox emu on phones will only be powerful enough in a couple of years. So don't put your hopes too high, you won't be able to have anything running at a decent speed currently.

Either of those scenarios you just mentioned are great, but voice commands w/ S Voice would be more useful (if it can even do this - I know Google Now can get me this info from my phone, but S Voice on the Gear currently just comes back and says "sorry, we couldn't find the answer to your question".
Also, if your hands are full, what makes you think that opening up and typing a web address on the watch's little screen will be "hands free"? You can't even interact with the watch without touching it with your other hand.

How would you navigate an app or browser without using you hands/fingers? Your football score scenario is already accomplished via ESPNs Score Center app. It can be configured to send notifications based on team preferences (i.e. notify of scoring plays during your fav team games).
And now that I think about it, if only the Google Maps app could be configured to send turn-by-turn notifications, we would sort of have GPS on our Gears.

oh I forgot about the turn by turn functionality - Pebbles can do this, even though I never got a chance to use it since my phone is mounted on my dashboard. Would be useful when walking in a city, though - without keeping your phone out. The problem of course is the watchscreen turns off again and you have to touch the watch and navigate to the app again to see the next direction.

Yep, and shortly after I posted this I came up with an article about that Pebble feature... however, it seems it is limited to the iOS version of Google Maps because it is able to send normal push notifications for each turn.
