Viper4android - Shield K1 - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I have installed Viper4android and everything in the driver status screen appears to be working but changing presets does not appear to change the audio in anyway whatsoever.
Does anyone have this working on a K1? if so would you be kind enough to post what you did in case I missed something,
Regards
Richard

Did you change SELinux mode? Or is it set to permissive? Otherwise V4A won't work.

Thats way outdated with SE Linux, at least for Viper without any additional Mods like Dolby. Just use Arise https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709
You can look at it like a better Viper since the guys are optimizing **** out of it. It's more or less flash and done. Just use Version 2.3.3 at least that's what i flashed on my Shield, booted up and everything works out of the Box and is preinstalled. I know that 2.4 is out, you can try that as well but i can't provide any personal recommendation for that.

Thanks for the information,
The link has so much info on it. Is this the file you are talking about ARISE Sound Systems Deuteronomy 2.4.zip or should I be using ViPER4Arise 2.5.0.5.zip

It's 2.4, everything is in there, but I would suggest using 2.3.3 it's one version prior to 2.4.
I know for sure 2.3.3 works because I'm using it, but you can also try 2.4, I just haven't had the chance to update to 2.4 myself since it came out a few days ago.

I have successfully installed 2.3.3 and this time everything is working perfectly. Thanks for your help
I was wondering if you could guide me in installing some custome profiles, I am a little confused about the difference between setprop and tweakprop

You mean Viper Profiles? Tweak and Setprop are only for modifying the Build.prop, which is not needed in most time. Honestly I've never needed it, not on my Nexus 6, 6P, 5 or Shield. But if you are interested you can read more on it here https://plus.google.com/u/0/111333653880673138633/posts/ZmyiFwiymrc?sfc=false
You can also join the G+ Group here which I would highly recommend https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/104675617308252943432 because of the various Information found there like this https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g3GygwnQxNZFrWomlAb3Gh-oLCRnsJM9b7cPr0egN0Q/edit :good:
For Viper Profiles you just have to Copy them in the Profiles Folder in /Viper Folder on your SD Card and load them through the App

I got it from beta.download.cyanogenmod.org.
I run the program and it performed an update, but I don't know to what version? Release or still beta?
Later today I will try to install CM on my S4 and if it's good ... bye bye Samsung KNOX bull****!

Please let us know how it went. I'm curious how this CM affects Knox flag.
I´m very interested in this topic too. But I have to admit I´m a bit eager to try this =)
So any information from your side is really appreciated.
Thx =)
PS.: I got the internationel Version, so my Version of supported devices is "jfltexx" right?

Yes think "jfltexx" is the right one for S4 LTE/INT.
Have second thought after I have read CM i9505 buglist ... Link
Want to be totally sure that I can get back to the firmware I'm using at the moment. So I have a lot of questions as well ...
- Which recovery is the best and how to flash it being on CM.
- What about ROOT? Is latest stable version rooted by default, or do I have to (do I need to?) root it?
- Can I restore my apps using Titanium Backup?
AS far as I can read the information from this page http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/CyanogenMod_Installer#Supported_Devices it says that you actually dont need anything.
So, the right recovery and the latest root SHOULD be installed...but I´ve red no confirmation until yet
Thx for you reply.

Hi
I have read information from the link, and it related to root, recovery and backup BEFORE flashing CM.
My questions is what I do AFTER I have flashed CM
- Which recovery is the best and how to flash it being on CM.
- What about ROOT? Is latest stable version rooted by default, or do I have to (do I need to?) root it?
- Can I restore my apps using Titanium Backup?
It might be silly questions, but I only have flashed Samsung Firmwares :cyclops:
I try this installer. This Software install 10.2 M1 Snapshot jfltexx for now,Gapps and Recovery.Really useful. In the feature i hope Cyanogenmod add option to select witch build to install and more information what you really install
I just read the CM page and the Play store entry for the app.
I'm still not sure what this does. Doesn't his just make it easy to install cm on a previously rooted phone? Or is this supposed to take a stock phone without root and install CM automatically?

The installer is more for phones that are coming from stock without root... If you have root & recovery already, you can just flash 10.2 from sd card like any other rom. I've tried cwm and twrp install, twrp was easier for me because you can link the rom zip to the gapps zip and it'll flash it perfectly on the first install.
Very pleased with it, I only wish I did it sooner and got rid of the Samsung bloat lol.

What about the buglist (missing IR, ejected SD Card and a few more bugs)?

Unfortunately I don't use the IR, or company email exchange, so I haven't been able to test it... Calendar works great, Google calendar... Personally I use aCalendar from play store, really nice interface... To be honest I really haven't noticed any bugs on 10.2 Release Candidate Snapshot. Only if I install Wanam Xposed, or some other ui changing module, they don't agree too well on CM roms.

Cyanogenmod installer
I am incredibly nervous about installing it as I have mucked up when messing with my phone before. It was when I was a no of and I didn't really know about aosp or aokp roms and I had installed a rom that was based on 4.3 and for the tutorial I watched they were on stock Samsung firmware and it turns out you have to do different steps and I learnt that the hard way by getting in a boot loop. Of course I was too nervous to completely brick my phone attempting to self repair it so I forked out £50. I don't want anything to go wrong again. I know this is a lot simpler but I'm still nervous because if something DOES go wrong then I'm screwed. What do you guys think I should do. I really want cyanogenmod on my Samsung galaxy s4 I9505 lte but I'm nervous. Any help or advice would be incredibly appreciated, thanks

HTC one S stuck flashing rom

I was trying to install a new rom on my phone. I managed to get s off and root it. The rom I wanted to install was [ROM][4.4.2][24 MAR] Codename Lungo I'm using twrp v2.4.3.0 I have hboot 2.13.0000 ( I don't know what that means haha) My phone is just stuck in a loop now after it failed to install that rom. What can I do? are there any windows programs I can use to flash the rom? Do i need to update something or do I need another rom? I'm pretty sure it's not a coaster yet. CHeers guys

Flash twrp 2.7.0.0 and try flashing the rom again. Android 4.4+ needs SElinux and twrp 2.4.3.0 doesn't support it. If it doesn't solve the problem that means you need to update your firmware.

Hi
I tried this hack with KK 4.4.2 stock ROM. It has made my device very snappy. Overall system performace has improved a lot.
I am sharing this for our Moto X forum members wanting to try.
Original Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670&nocache=1
Hope it helps.
working good,thanks
So many of those build.prop lines are confirmed useless...
I'll test it myself anyway lol. Thanks.
Wow it works definitely snappy nice find.
trying it, seems to do the trick
Anytime I flash a mod like this and it changes my animations to .5 I am suspicious if its actually doing anything more than that
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
My animation was already .5 and I noticed a more fluid ui
I changed my animation back to 1.0 and it does seem more fluid. [emoji57]
Trying it now, will report back

Yes. Initially it does break AdAway.. Once flashed this hack I reinstalled Adaway and also flashed Mother of All adblocking from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098.
Hope it helps. It stops ad but still there are very few app on which AdAway never worked (eg. "Ditch Last Seen Whasapp")..

Go to /etc with any root explorer app and if you see a folder called Crossbreeder you're good. Recovery script is not very descriptive as to what it's doing so I found myself checking for that as well lol.
It makes a difference in speed for sure. Remains to be be seen if it breaks anything. No issues with the usual sms, mms, calls, active notifications, touchless controls or Google now from my (minimal) testing.

So I decided to flash the pureperformance uninstaller to see if I could tell that much of a difference and now my tether doesn't work. Tether worked pre uninstaller. You think it changed something in the build. prop? Any thoughts?
I do not like the fact it enables the swap partition in Android everyone knows the constant read and write of flash or nand memory will reduce its life some what that is why you disable all swap files on computers with SSD's
But other then that looks nice..

Second this, lost tether as well. Had to restore a nandroid, I didn't see any performance differences anyway with this already speedy phone running krypton. Always make a nand folks.

I third this. I reflashed my system partition over. This "mod" didn't do me any good and disabled ad block. Waste of time.
If you want adaway to work with this, go to system/etc/crossbreeder and delete

DISABLE_ADBLOCK
HOSTS
START_ADBLOCK

I'm wearing my dunce hat now for not making a nandroid. I reflashed to stock and my tether still doesn't work. I'm going to try and do a complete wipe and start over. I would stay away from this mod for those thinking about flashing it.

Low Mic Volume when on Speaker

I am very confused and I really need some help.
I have been installing some different roms and I tried to edit the mixer_paths file editing the volumes.
BEFORE (until yesterday) I had low mic volume (the others couldn't hear me) while NOT being on speaker. While when I was on speaker during a call the mic was working perfectly and the others could hear me.
TODAY I have the exact OPPOSITE problem. When I am NOT on speaker the others can hear me perfectly and the mic works fine. When I start the speaker the mic got totally muted and the others can't hear me!
So far I have found that the DEC4 value in the mixer paths file increase the mic volume when NOT on speaker.
Does anyone knows how can I raise the volume of the mic while I am on speaker?
I am using hte SULTANXDA CM13 rom.
thanks!
My mic worked and works good when im not on the speaker. But when i use the speaker its pretty bad and the other side cant really understand me. This has been a thing for me since i own this phone. No matter what ROM i tried from COS (11 & 12) to CM Official Nightlies (12 & 13) or even unofficial Builds (e.g. SultanXDA). Also i tried different Kernels and didnt mention any effect on this issue. I think it has something to do with echo cancellation.
So i dont know how you managed to have the opposite problem before yesterday, but the problem you have now is a normal thing for me and meanwhile im used to it ^^
Any solution for this?

I had to get rid of darkobus... It would start to lag a lot. Try saosp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-saosp-m-t3267790
Make sure you have a twrp version older than 3.x. Also, read how and what to flash on the first post. Xposee and gravitybox is great on this rom to get the features it doesn't have. It's a pretty bare bones ROM... But at least things work.
I can confirm speaker mic is working with this ROM though. Used it this morning

How is it going? I actually like the G5 port. Please confirm everything is going well cos I would love to use it. Please tell me how you see the ROM.
My only fear is that I noticed that if one is to revert to stock there are other files to be flashed. Being the language is in Vietnamese if a mistake is made, then hardbrick will ensue.
Thanks

You can use Google Chrome to open the page and use translate the page to English, the rom installation is English. I have installed and run good and smoothly. You need to back up rom and then full wipe, and install rom. There is instruction on V3.0 section. I just use as normal use so I am not sure how is perfect or not. Any other user has idea?

I've downloaded the ROM, will flash later when I get back from work. Will let you know how it goes....
This rom is super cool. Im running a different one that's in the same section, it seems to have the UI more accurate like the V20. The devs there seem to be hella active. Ive seen updates every few days for both roms. Runs smooth and battery life is much better than stock in my opinion, cant tell if its a placebo though so Id recommend you test yourself.

Q: Can you roll back to 20J after trying 20L, or will it brick?

There does seem to be a lot going on there! But there's only one 20l ROM thus far, right?

I dirty flashed the 20l ROM over stock rooted 20l, it booted up fine and seems fine so far.

I saw a post in the Dev section that stated both 20J & 20L are both set to Anti-Rollback version 2. As long as you stay within the same anti-rollback version then you should be able to move back and forth between 20J & 20L. I believe 20E is Anti-Rollback version 1.
I am about to move back to 20J and will let you know how it goes.
EDIT: I was able to go back to 20J with no problem
Do we need to modify any of the APN's or build.prop for use on Verizon in US? My phone says 4G but keeps dropping to 3G and then sometimes it says H...

Yeah, they are active but it is expected since they have a lot of sales in the Asian market. Can you please get me the link to the V20-like ROM?

Can someone say whether this ROM has init.d support? You can tell because there will be a folder called init.d at /system/etc/init.d. It may or may not be empty. If there is something in there then it's a pretty good indication. I usually drop a file in there that will run on boot and produce a log file in /data. If that log file doesn't appear, then no init.d support is present.

Can't find it using root browser, though it maybe me. Let's wait for another person to confirm.
I'll go ahead and assume the answer is no unless someone confirms otherwise. If I knew how to mod kernels, ramdisks, etc then I would add it myself. There is a universal init.d app that can add artificial support for this in the meantime, so not a huge deal. But kernel/ROM support for it is superior.

I believe this is the ROM you are looking for: RadeonMaya
I've had it installed for about 2 hours now and all is well.
V. 4.0 Back up first. My idea for easier update, wipe Dalvik / System / Cache and then install the 4.0
For Clean install, wipe Dalvik / System / Data / Cache then install

How did you extract this? The apps I used on the phone say a password is required. And it's a TWRP backup to be restored?
Edit: got it from the thread there! Duh

Glad you got it worked out, it took me a minute to figure out the password also lol. So far I've noticed my data speeds are slow and I only see 4G and not 4G LTE at the top so far....

Ah ok lol haha, cool. All my andoid apps on the phone are failing to extract it, even with the password.
But as for the LTE, I think you may need to edit the build.prop if it isn't set up to be a Tmobile device. Or someone posted a tmo build.prop file in the thread about getting the 20l OTA, I believe

If you replace the build.prop in this rom with a stock one it will get stuck at LG and won't boot any further...at least in my experience. I'm sure it's something easy but who knows
