You can get Android to run on some Windows Phone-based phones but not vice versa, usually missing features or stability due to lack of hardware documentation. (I came from a device running xdandroid...)
Android kernels can be modified to run on new hardware, Windows Phone devices cannot since they are closed-source.

[Q] Run Ubuntu Strictly off of an External SD card?

I was wondering if it is possible to run Ubuntu on the Transformer strictly off of my External SD Card?I know in Some tablets you can run Android off of the ext-sd, so I want to try to do the same thing with Ubuntu or Linux.
you could run choroot but not native
look at the ubuntu install guide app in themes and apps then use the script that i posted there it runs off of external sd
I'm almost certain it is possible, I'm trying to get openSUSE running this way but haven't solved all issues yet (mainly how to dualboot). If you have it running from internal memory, you just need to get it on your MicroSD card (partitioned would be simpler) and pass correct parameters to the kernel (add root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 rootwait init=/sbin/init). But there can be much more obstacles on the way (kernel doesn't like different configuration much), so if you are linux newbie, I would recomend to stick to the simple tutorials...

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy Prevail 2 Help

I'm in need of a custom ROM for this phone, and I can't find one anywhere, and I'm not sure where to post this. I can't find any ROM that actually has this phone listed as a supported device. It has a single core 1.4GHz processor, 829MBs of RAM, 1.96GBs of internal storage and I have a 8GB SD card installed. I cannot install any apps onto the SD card no matter what I do, and this is my ultimate goal. I'd like to play Real Racing 3 but there's no way I can as I don't have enough internal storage, but I do have enough on the SD card. Every App2SD app I've used won't allow me to move them over, unless I format the card, which I haven't as I have personal data I need on it. I'm not sure if it would even work if I tried, but I will later this evening. I just wanted to know if there were any ROMs that could run on the phone, even if they weren't made for the phone. Any and all help is appreciated. It currently runs on the stock Android 4.1.2 Jellybean with Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

As to the SD card, you can back the data on a PC then format the card.

Can you run Custom OS through SD card

Hey guys, I'm new to modding the Galaxy S III, but have had some experience loading custom roms onto the Nook HD+. I was curious if it is possible to run a modded OS such as CM from an SD card to test it out before flashing the actual phone hard drive like many people do with the Nook. Just thought it would be nice to test out Roms on a SD card that can easily be removed and load back into stock before permanently removing stock. Thanks for your help.

I also use to run CM on my nook color via the SD card. I'm unsure if its possible but would be an interesting option if it was
Sent from my Nexus 5
I believe I read something that said if it cannot load from the emmc it will try from the sdcard slot.

All I want is for my SM-J500Y to work and be able to runs a few apps!

Hi,
I have the 8Gb version of the Galaxy J5 (SM-J500Y) and am experiencing the same problem of low internal memory that everyone else seems to be. I have a 64Gb micro SD but my computer is not recognising an SD card in the built-in SD card reader (nor does it recognise the internal camera but that's a separate issue- since windows 10 upgrade)
After doing a little research, I think I understand that MiniTool Partition Wizard should see the SD card when USB linked if it is first rooted (I could be wrong). Other option is I could go buy a card reader or get the reader working. Tips welcome.
Either way it needs to be rooted before I can use Link2SD. As I understand it, I can root the thing, but only from Android 5.1.x builds. I tried rooting it from Android 6.1 and killed it. Was able to resuscitate it with the Kies App, but can only recover it to the latest Android (6.1)... so I end up at square one: unrooted and not able to root.
How do I get it working in Android 5.1.x so I can root it? How can I partition the SD card (preferably by getting the internal reader working)? And then which is the best ROM to flash? I'm leaning toward the Cyanogenmod 12.1 I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-cyanogenmod-12-1-samsung-galaxy-j5-t3468830 mostly because it seems stable and lite.
Help please. TIA
Anyone?
Even a little help to get me started would be awesome...
