Can you run Custom OS through SD card - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys, I'm new to modding the Galaxy S III, but have had some experience loading custom roms onto the Nook HD+. I was curious if it is possible to run a modded OS such as CM from an SD card to test it out before flashing the actual phone hard drive like many people do with the Nook. Just thought it would be nice to test out Roms on a SD card that can easily be removed and load back into stock before permanently removing stock. Thanks for your help.

I also use to run CM on my nook color via the SD card. I'm unsure if its possible but would be an interesting option if it was

I believe I read something that said if it cannot load from the emmc it will try from the sdcard slot.

[Q] Possible to make bootable SD Card for ThinkPad Tablet?

I have a 16GB WiFi Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet, which is rooted and I've installed CWM. I'd really like to try out the ICS CM9 port but I need to keep the tablet useable for school. I've sucessfully set up a bootable SD card with CM7 for my friends Nook Color, and I was wondering if it's possible to do the same for my ThinkPad Tablet. I use Boot Manager on my Galaxy Nexus, but it isn't compatible with the tablet. I have made a nandroid, but I'm hesitant to mess with the device itself without the ability to return it to stock, as I have had to do twice already with my Nexus.
I appologize if this has been asked before, but I was surprisingly unable to find any information about booting from an SD card excluding that about the Nook devices.
Thank you very much for any information.

[Q] new memory card help

hi. i have a question. im gonna buy a new SD card for my phone (4gig or an 8gig) and since im rooted and have cm7 and did the trans status bar patch, im wondering if im going to have to re-root/re-flash/re-patch all 3 again when i switch out memory cards? thanks for ur help.
I'm not sure what the trans flash deal is, but you shouldn't have any trouble. Just copy everything over from the old to new and continue on. Your phone will run fine without any card in it, although you'll be missing anything installed on the card, of course.
I think when you something flash to phone, you donĀ“t need to keep the zip on SD. When you something flash, its copy to internal memory. So you can plug new SD with no fear.
aright thank u both. ill just have to backup the apps i have installed to my sd card. again, thanks for ur help.
2 things I can think of, first check the type of microSD card, it should be at least a class 4, and check to see if your ROM can do App2SD and take advantage of it

galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3113 noob in need of help

hello all, i just recently got my hands on a slightly used galaxy tab 2 7.0, i like the stock rom allot but after installing a 32gb sd card and trying to download my android apps and game collection i quickly found out that the stock jellybean rom 4.1.2 doesn't allow apps to be transferred to the external sd card, this is a problem for me because i have a bunch of paid apps and games that i like to use all the time, and i want to be able to store them on my galaxy because sometimes in not in a wifi area and i cant download an app when i need to, i recently tried a new custom rom Tsunami X10 and i like the rom, it looks nice with its dark themes, but it still doesn't have the option for apps to be installed on the external sd, can anyone recommend a custom rom that allows me to move apps to sd card and still work, some apps like GL to sd will not work for my games on this tablet, any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

You can switch your internal and external SD space. That way you can fool your tablet into thinking that it's internal space is 32GB and everything will be stored on your SD card automatically.
You can do it with the app called Link2SD, however required root access. You may refer this (http://techtrickz.com/how-to/extend...roid-phone-by-utilizing-a-portion-of-sd-card/) article to get an idea on how to use the app. It's quite simple and explained step by step.

Question ROM (10) Suzu AOSP stable on xperia x 5121 does not support my sd card?

My greetings to all,
I have a problem regarding the android 10 AOSP ROM on my xperia x (suzu).
I installed the ROM and everything is working fine if I can say it like that. Except my problem is the Sd card which is not supported. And he asks me to format it. What I did with a message which subsequently states that I can use my card now on the phone. Except that I still have nothing, not even a trace of the SD card in the file manager. Could you help me? I really like this ROM and would like to keep it. If there is a possible solution, please help me. I am attaching some screenshots to messages I got with the SD card. I also specify that to flash the ROM I have to send everything on the SD card and use TWRP to flash it. The SD card shows up well on my computer and the Oreo 8.0 Stock ROM on the phone itself. I have to format the SD card in Fat32, exFat, Ntfs but still nothing. I tell myself that maybe it is the ROM which does not accept the sd card. Ah yes I was going to forget, to flash the ROM, I used the kernel of android 9 pie and I don't have another SD card to check if it works or not with another. I also admit that I am not too good at handling. I just came across a tutorial here that I followed(rom-10-suzu-aosp-stable) . Thank you and sorry for taking so long.
