Device boots up normally in flashmode - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I'm having a problem with keeping my device in flashmode, it just doesn't remain in flashmode! After like one minute and few seconds, the green LED turns red then the screen turns on and the device boots up normally.. I have the semi-latest flashtool (0.9.23.0), USB debugging, unknown sources are both on. Drivers are all installed from flashtool, Windows and the PC companion app. I tried to change the cable and USB port as other people said in few threads, didn't work! Installing the drivers didn't help as well. It just doesn't stay in flashmode, fastboot mode works fine, I haven't tried flashing an FTF file yet because if it boots up during the flashing process, it'll possible brick itself. And I'm using a Windows 7 PC and my phone is running 6.0.1, Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

It won't boot during flashing process because flashtool will flash a new ftf and won't let it boot until it finish it's work.
Just turn off the device, wait 10 secondes, maintain vol - and plug it to the computer while maintaining.
It should turn green and let it flash.
I guess when you put it to flashmode, the phone reboots to normal because it detect nothing special
But when pluged on flashmode while using flashtool , flashtool will take over you and the phone will detect something so it will lock itself to flashmode until the end of the process
Don't try it just yet, wait for another confirmation but I think it's fine

Thanks for your reply, this issue has been er occurred when I had an Xperia Z so it's pretty weird to see to me! And I'll wait for more info of course, it'd be horrible to get the device bricked without possibility of staying in flashmode!

Seems pretty weird indeed, I had a Z and now a Z5 both rooted by myself and never encountered this kind of trouble
Wait another confirmation this is wiser than rushing and brick your phone

I flashed a faulty recovery using mobileuncles and there was no signs of life other than a red led liggt, and holding power + volume up works just fine and it went into flashmode.
I have the same issue.
I organized xperia light rom for our xperia c, I flashed it from custom recovery. Phone is completely dead now.
There is a just red light, phone does not go into download or fastboot mode. Pc Companion, Sony Update Center, Wmshua Flashtool do not recognize the phone.
Any suggestion with that?
I don't have warranty, my last option is to pay money for technical service.
this worked for me but instead of POWER+VOL UP i used POWER+VOL DOWN
thanks
thank, i like this forum
worth to try... (hope it won't happen to me  )
I have experienced this too, however, instead of using the Sony Update Service, I used the Sony PC Companion. At first it was not working, so I did a hard reset on the phone (press the button at the back). I held the power+up button while inserting the cable, and finally it was detected by Sony. It will reset your device to factory settings though.

It worked for my Xperia M (rooted on JB 4.3) with a locked bootloader which was STUCK on bootloop screen and when I did the whole thing with holding the power and volume up button (after I let the battery die after so many bootloops it did), FINALLY I was able to take it to flashmode, while I had selected from Sony PC Companion to repair my phone, and after 3-4 tries, I DID IT!!! Thank you so much for this thread ( I DEFINITELY pressed the "thanks" button), it really SAVED ME time and money (because I was planning to send it to Sony to fix it and you ALL know how bastards Sony is)!!!! And to all those of you who are DESPERATE to fix their phone (I hope you read this thread), DON'T PANIC, and DON'T GIVE UP!!! It took me 2 days of searching the web, and FINALLY I MADE IT!!! There are ALWAYS solutions to these kinds of problems!!!!

[Q] JLo bricked

Hello.
I'm in a bit of a pickle. I installed slimbean on my friends Xperia J and it booted properly and everything. The only problem I had was that the IMEI was blank and the phone could not get the network established. Now I wish that was still the problem. It looks like the phone is totally bricked. I left it on over night and it was fully charged, but in the morning it was turned off. I tried turning it on, taking out the battery, but couldn't get it to turn on. I tried getting into fastboot mode, but to no avail.
When I press the fastboot button (volume down) and connect it, the windows doesn't recognize it and failes to install the drivers. After that, when I plug it in, I can hear the failed usb connect sound. And that is about it. Please guys, work your magic. Thanks.

Use flashtool and flash Stock ICS, To put your device in flashmode you hold the Volume + and plug the USB in, The LED Light should light up green, The reason your IMEI was gone and you have no network was because you must've flashed straight from Jellybean? The way to solve this is by flashing from ICS to your desired rom, Goodluck!

Thanks for your response, but the biggest problem is that I can't get into flashmode. Windows just makes a failed connect usb sound and that's it. And the device is listed in the device manager as unknown device.
But, really, thanks for the response.

Windows won't detect anything if you get into flashmode, try again, plug the usb and wait 0.001s and press "Volume +"button
[0.001 s means that do not press button and plug usb at the same time, but need fast action]

You said your battery was completely flat right, so what's happened is your phone doesn't have enough power to do anything, What you need to do is leave the phone on charge (Best to do it overnight) One you've done this Take your battery out for 5 minutes, After place your battery back in and use flash tool and Flash Stock ICS (If you want to flash to slimbean again) if not goa head and flash Stock JB, Your device should run normally

Cannot flash using flashtool

So i have an xperia m2, model D2303 running android version 18.0.C.1.13, which is essentially 4.3
I unlocked its bootloader, so far so good
Then i get into a bootloop
However, i did not panic since i knew it would happen
So, I decide to flash the same android version as above
But, flashtool does not have the flashmode drivers for this device... I tried installing all the drivers, but despite the installation being succesful, flashtool still says i need to install drivers...
Any ideas?
just press the reset button next to the sim card slot and it will load the driver s and try flashing again .

Well, it did install some drivers but although it goes into flashmode, it won't stay there, which means that the flashmode drivers aren't installed... This is the real problem i think
okay thats good .now unplug usb cabe.and press the reset button then hold the volume down and connect the usb cable .once you see the orange light let it go and you can flash the firmware .

Miro bricked after flashing wrong bootloader

Hi,
I don't know what can I do now, perhaps noting. I accidentialy flashed wrong bootloader (from other xperia, not Miro). Now phone seems to be completly bricked, I can't turn it on and my PC does not see any new device after connecting phone to usb. I also tried to remove and insert battery, after this when trying to power on, there is short vibration and nothing more.
Do you have any ideas? Or I simply should to use it as brick, not as phone or put it to my toilet and wash? Thanks.
Can you get in flashmode? Power button down + connect to pc. Flash proper ftf for your phone.
Sent from Xperia M2 D2303
Don't worry, Your phone is not hard bricked. As you mentioned that on starting , phone is vibrating that means there are chances to recover your phone.
1.First go through this guide :Using Flashtool for Xperia devices
2.Download your current stock firmware . Visit this: Miro all official firmwares
3.Install proper drivers as mentioned in the above 1.flashtool guide.
4.Flash the firmware for your phone , according to the above 1. Flastool guide.
5.Wait untill flashing completes. start your device when you are told to do so.
Good luck :good:

You should see green light. Try this :
Pull out battery, hold power button for 10 seconds without battery. Reinstall battery, hold volume button - and connect to usb. Then follow steps that prateek.invasion gave you.
The point is you can flash ftf and restore your phone.
Good luck.

Thanks, I will try. Batteery is not charging, so I need to do this quick, it was not fully charged.
Unfortunatly, I can't do anything. I tried to connect while Volume down + power pressed. But nothing happens, only led flashing with red color. PC can't see any new device after I connect to usb.
Any ideas?

I had the same issue with my xperia e after I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM, the phone just rebooted itself at boot up. If you have installed CWM I suggest you to install a custom rom and a new kernel. That worked for me . Or ofc, if you have warranty you can send it to them. They won't be able to tell if you installed another rom since the pc doesn't recognize the phone.
I don't have cwm... trying to connect to computer with volume down pressed. After this led starts flashing red and computer can't see any device connected
Seems there is no any recovery or I can't put it to recovery mode.

Xperia Z5 E6683 dual - Boot looping

Hi all,
i have been attempting to root my Z5 dual, i have unlocked the bootloader no issues.
but when i got to the stage of trying to flash TWRP.img thats where i ran into issues, it flashed ok - but now my phone won't boot - it is just stuck on the white sony screen.
the only way to turn it off is to hard reset ( hold power button and the volume buttons until it vibrates 3 times ) - then it will power on if i hold down the volume key and press the power button - or plug it into a wall charger..
when it does turn on it gets to the sony screen - the LED goes white, then amber for a second or two then the LED turns off..
im not too sure what to do now guys - my laptop wont pick up my device any more so it seems as though i have soft bricked it. i have also tried the P.c companion thing also but it says i have modded software so it can't do it lol.
help me pls
Hi,
If you already have installed the z5 drivers on you laptop (i assume this is the case because pc companion is installed and detect your phone), guess you can try to flash a stock Rom of your contry using flastool, your laptop will normally detect your z5 cause you connect it thanks to a special manipulation (vol - + connexion while button is maintained) .
Try this if everything goes great, it will fix the bootloop issue.
I got the same prob and eveb worse (battery 0% and wasnt charging) i hard rest it ( vol up+ power) and left it for 10 seconds then i pluged into my laptop while holding vol down and suprisly my laptop detected my phone and i was saved ! But i was scared about the flashig procsess as my battery was 0% lol

hi there,
thanks for your response,
my phone is no longer being recognized by my laptop - i have tried a bunch of things - it doesn't boot loop any more - if i turn it on ( well attempt to) it will just show a no battery picture - out of 20 times of trying to get it into fast boot mode it the green LED will flash for a second or so and then it will turn off again.
i have tried to leave my phone on charge for a whole weekend to see if it worked - but it still shows that it has no battery

You dont need put your phone in fastboot mode than flashmode.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z5
flashmode not fastboot mode . make sure u install flashtool drivers and fastboot drivers and ur devices drivers as well. dont skip this just cause u think u did it. if you are on a windows pc windows 8 - windows 10 , you have to disable signature verification in order to install the drivers. if you dont know about that , tell me to explain . apart from that , what commmand did you use to flash twrp? fastboot flash boot twrp.img or fastboot flash recovery twrp.img? if you did the first , thats why it doesnt boot. and apart from that , can you at least enter the recovery ?
