Hello all,
I scored a brand new Zuli https://zuli.io Presence Pack for $10. The Android app is severely lacking, and it looks like the company has lost interest. They're frequently asked questions page lists this:
Does Zuli offer an API or SDK?
Zuli Support04/05/2016
We unfortunately*do not offer an API or SDK at the moment, but it's certainly something we would love to share in the near future. If you would like to be added to our API/SDK mailing list for updates, please reach out to us at*[email protected]
I have reached out to them but have yet to hear back. Are we out of luck without the API/SDK?
Thanks.

I have been searching for the ultimate android device and have found it with this phone. The Synapse-One phone is an Ultra Customizable Superphone. You get to choose everything about this device except the screen (4.0" S-LCD) and the Processor (1GHZ).
The best part is that it ships with 2.2 comes with a 3 year world wide warranty, and only costs slightly more than a phone from a carrier would without a contract.
I think that supporting this company is about the best way you can support an open android Platform. As soon as the site is open for Pre-Orders again I am placing one.
According to reports the phone is shipped with root access. I have emailed the company asking some questions about the SOC and GPU on this device. As soon as they answer I will post them here. If this company does well then we could expect to see Customizable Phones available in the future, which is like the ultimate toy any XDA phone super Geek.
Check out their site HERE!
Mmm..interesting but after I configured my device price got to +500€
I think I´ll wait for hTC to make my perfect device which should include the possibility to switch between WM/WP7 and Android
I have a similar problem, I want everything.
However, I can say that WP7 in it's current implementation is not what I want in a phone. You are aware that any third party app that wants to have Notifications on the WP7 device will have to set up a server to send those updated to the Microsoft server to then be pushed to the phone. Currently no one has this infrastructure in place. It will be some serious trouble to implement.
I think that WP7 has potential but it will be a year or two before it catches up to Android 2.2 and even iOS in its current implementation.
Come on, This phone comes rooted out of the box with 2.2 and you can customize it!!!!
This phone looks pretty slick. After customizing everything for me, it's approx $550. That's similar to the price of the Nexus One.
I would like to know more about the digitizer/touch panel on it. I assume it supports 2-finger multitouch. But I don't want it to have any limitations like the N1. If it's able to support 5 finger like the Galaxy S, it would be awesome. If I could put a S-AMOLED i would rock! But I assume they don't provide that due to Samsung being low on them and only using them on their own devices.
"Coming mid-2011".
Let's assume this won't be scam/they won't go bankrupt - they will start shipping not earlier than Q3 2011 (delays are almost guaranteed with small companies like these). By then the technology will be outdated.
The curse of technology.
Actually the site says that they will ship middle of Q1 2011 not 3rd quarter 2011.

Originally the site had SAMOLED as the screen but they changed it. I suppose that is to do with the shortage of them.....
Looks like some new specs should be added to update Synapse's site. Admin at their support forum indicates comittments to specific requests. http://synapsephones.uservoice.com/...Widget&utm_source=synapsephones.uservoice.com
I emailed them also and will post my results here when reveived. How well/timely they respond to us is obviously important at these earliest stages of dev.
*Update edit*
Three and a half days later with no response. Synapse has an interesting concept but I won't place an order until reviews come in from those who did. The skeptic in me thinks that Synapse-Phones is merely measuring market interest at this point.
*update*
Now over a week and two more emails later, still not a word in reply. Blog seems dead. Order page isn't working. Feedback forum still has a lot of activity.

Finally received a blanket response:
"Hello and thank you for contacting us
Sorry, we are getting a lot of emails and we are not able to answer all of
them.
We are populating our website with more and more information soon, like
pictures, videos and specifications.
As soon we are ready for mass production, we will send devices to the
press for testing, so you can see what you get.
Please be patient and visit our website from time to time to look up all
the things you want to know.
But if you have more questions, just write us an email."
Question is, how to get on their list for testing?

I only came across the Quasar IV today after reading engadget and I must say that it has piqued my interest. However after reading about it in indiegogo more carefully, isn't the security system, only beneficial within its closed ecosystem and if one were to use the normal commercially available services (gmail, gdrive, etc.) that they won't benefit from the security features of this the Quasar IV?
The security feature aside, the only other benefit of this phone for me is the 128GB. However since it's only to be released April '14 (and if Indiegogo is anything like Kickstarter, Oct '14 would probably be a more realistic date), most of the other major players in the market (Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, etc.) would probably announce and release their "large" storage phones.
Take another look to the news.

You're right, the special security brougth by QUATRIX will be only available when the information is sent from a QUATRIX-enabled devide to another, but mind that sending encrypted messages to anyone that doesn't have the key to decode them is completely nonsense. I urge you to take a look to the news I've posted on the top of the page, because they mean that It will be possible turning a normal phone into a QUATRIX one just by adding a micro SD. Isn't it great?
I have to add that the production of the phone has already begun so the release date becomes stronger.
Thanks for your comment.
What a powerful phone! I like it! But I think the most way for keep the secrets safe it's not to put it on our phones! LOL
As Anonymous said "There Is No Full Security, We Can Catch You !" :S
I have payed for the 64 GB because even without the encryption those are awesome specs and I want to get this

It sounds like didn't succeed in reaching their goal in Indiegogo and everyone is getting a refund. However QSAlpha is still going to proceed with pre-orders directly from their website instead. I guess they got funding somehow though some joint venture.
However for those who did get in early in Indiegogo for the $495 pack will have to start again with QSAlpha's pre-order...at a the $595 price instead.
And here's more info on the crypto system it uses and the downsides too
Any other buyer? I found this mobile and I m not sure about this. Im between this and Xiaomi
By the way : Hi. This is my first message but Im following this fantastic forum from ages. I just wanted to know if any one is getting this mobile to know about future support

Seems like a long wait for a device. I would go with currently available models with similar specs. Nexus 5 for example.
Actually I dont need a phone right now. I could wait for months but I really dont know if its worth

I moved away from the iPhone 2 weeks ago and was looking at Android alternatives and came across the QSAlpha after an engadget or gizmodo article. I almost pledged in Indiegogo (before the project was pulled due to lack of funding) but to me the issue was that you have to be in their ecosystem to enjoy the security features and I don't have enough persuasion power to convince all my friends to move to this ecosystem. So it boils back down to a regular phone.
2.3GHz & 3GB RAM are available now. So the only thing this phone has going for it is the 128GB. But as many of you have noted the delivery time is sometime mid next year. By then I'd dare speculate the rest of the major Android phone makers would have 128GB offerings too.
Also I think one could forget about trying to root their Android flavour.
I am very interested on this phone. Wonder though if it'd ever be open sourced? Also, is the encryption to the GSM/HSPA hardware level or is it all over the traditional data channel?
whats a performance phone.
i can buy this
better then samsung phone
Just to catch up anyone who might have been coming to this thread years later, the "QSAlpha" folks were apparently the same people that ran the later "Turing" phone company scam. (Mobile devices with multiple "Snapdragon 830" CPUs? :laugh Effectively no retail devices ever shipped, in either case. Hope no one reading this ever wasted any money, time, or hope on these folks.
This thread and poll will be open for 24 hours only. All comments must be on topic and not in violation of XDA Rules and Policies.
Enjoy,

They're trying to tap into the fitness-fad that Apple is pushing into, that Samsung is spearheading. Because they think that's where the money is to be made which is why they're pushing for Android Wear to stay competitive. I think it's a waste of time. On the other hand, the new tools provided for their cloud services and online debugging sounds neat! I hope Google will continue to push software performance before features such that we can work toward improving battery life above all else.

I kinda felt the same. However, their Material Design concept I like and I hope they continue to push that directive.
The idea of being able to design in layers to unify the visual experience across platforms sounds nice. I hope they put out the proper SDKs soon so we can test this out.
EDIT: According to PhoneArena: the beta SDKs will come out tomorrow. Nice!
My reaction was pretty meh
Didn't really think they lived upto the expectation. 90% was all vapourware. Auto, TV are niche segments. Some fitness related API's which again looks vapourware like that [email protected] thingy..
I don't see any massive changes in Android atleast in UI or features. Yea, some 64-bit and ART and stuffs. Didn't find the material UI any good either. It was ok, but nothing groundbreaking as of now.
Let's see how it works when things are polished. As of now, I don't feel any great excitement.
Google I/O is more developer oriented not much consumer information development stuff is pretty cool, though just not as "exciting" as a shiny new nexus or android silver announcement.
Also what is up with all the protestors... so annoying. Apparently google is making killer robots, I just hope I can ADB into them.
I cannot watch it due to being limited with my data right at the moment. Just wondering, has a new android version been released?

Hello,
I have a question for anyone into designing Android Concept Phones. I have an upcoming meeting with some exec's at a OEM I can not release the name due to being under a NDA. I need someone to come up with a design off of what i have as far as idea(s),some rough specs and another older concept I have. The design can be branded by you just have my name at the bottom of the image/design. There is a 90% possibility that the phone will be going in to production. What I can say about the phone is if it goes into production it will be a GPE device. The OEM will be filing all the certification with google. Please reply and I will get in touch with my email in private.
Best Regards,
Dallas

Hello there!
So 9 months ago me and some friends wanted to solve a problem. We thought that it was way too difficult to stay updated on all the upcoming tech products that we were interested in, such as smartphones, wearables and software. Because news sites don't have personal content so much of the content is irrelevant to you and there's just too much content out there so it's difficult to keep up. All we wanted was a simple way of knowing what we needed to know about upcoming tech products that we were interested in. Without having to look at cluttered news sites every day.
So for the last 9 months we have been working on a solution, which is an Android app called Upcomer. So basically what Upcomer does is that you can select which product categories and brands that you are interested in. You will then be notified as soon as a new product is announced. You can then follow specific products to get all the relevant updates about them such as specifications, release dates, beta sign ups, giveaways, reviews and so on. You will find all the worlds upcoming tech products in the app, such as HTC One M9, Google Cars, Windows 10 etc. It's not just another news app, its more of a passive background app that makes sure you never miss something about upcoming tech products that you should know, and also that you are the first to know when something big happens.
We have been working our asses off for 9 months and we would love to get some feedback from you guys. And no, this is not advertising. We are all part of the xdadevelopers community and we genuinly want feedback on what we're creating. And we hope that we got something different here that some of you will like
So my question is: Would you use this application? Would it solve a problem for you?
If you want to read more you can do it at upcomer.com
