Hi folks!
It has come the time for me to sell my beloved P8 Max, but I having hard times to erase completely the device!
Basically after a factory reset (from Settings menu) if for example I install again WhatsApp, but syncing a different account...I find back again all my previous conversations! (but I connected a different account, to verify that I'm not getting a backup from cloud)
Can somebody tell me how to manually delete the folders related to user's files and backups?
Or is there a proper procedure to be sure to wipe all the data and have a totally clean device?
No TRWP or root here....
Thanks to everybody who might help! :good:
Without TWRP and Root the factory reset from Huawei is the only solution for it.
Try it with that code in the phone app: ##258741

I have the weirdest problem with my s. I plugged in my phone to load some files from work and it only pulled the SD storage partition not the internal phone partition. I unplugged the phone and checked and the phone itself only shows the SD side. I have done everything with the exception of a factory reset but can't get it to show. Now everything runs as it should but can't see the internal.
Plugged the phone in 2 days ago everything was fine. The only hickup I have had with this phone so far is yesterday when I went to the google store it told me I had to add an account. It had been a while since I reset so I restarted the phone and everything seemed fine. But it probably had something to do with this.
Any ideas?
I am completely stock and un modded.
Clear the data in the storage settings.

Thanks can you be more secific please. What is a ruu? If by clear the data on the storage do you mean the cache? on both drives or just the internal?
Thanks
There's is a thread called Shipped Roms over in the development section. Look for the one that corresponds to your carrier. Download it and run on your computer. You must be on stock recovery and have a locked or relocked Bootloader.
T-MobileUS HTC One S running Stock Rooted 2.21.
Thanks but shouldn't I try just a factory reset before I go and reflash everything? For either the phone is new enough I don't need to worry about loosing something important will the stock backup to the SD storage be enough? Just don't want to loose any numbers. Apps and messages aren't that important. Sorry this is a new one for me. Any information will help.
Thanks.

You could try a factory reset first.
If you have a google account enabled, check if your contacts are synchronized with it or not. If synchronized, your contact data will be restored after a factory reset automatically (if automatic synchronisation is enabled) as soon as you enter your personal data again.
You'll find that in -> settings -> account & sync
auto-sync should be on and you should see your Google account below. If not, you should add it, if you don't have one you should sign in.
This also restores your apps after a factory reset.
You can export your contacts as well, you'll fin that in the contacts menu.
And be careful, use only one of the methods. You wouldn't be the first to find his contacts doubled...
1. I will try the data wipe mentioned earlier. Although I did that yesterday. Reset.
2. I will try Factory reset.
3. I will try a flash.
All tonight. Thanks for the help.
Update
After a factory reset it resolved the problem. All my contacts were saved but now only show under the phone panel not the contact panel. But at the end of the day hey you can't win them all. I will just spend the next couple of days moving them over.
Thanks for the help! :good:

A RUU is an EXE (must be run on Windows) which flashes your device with the rom it embed.
Google that: RUU_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.21.401.10_Radio_1.06s.50.02.27_2_10.08.50.04L__release_271119_signed.exe
1) Run the EXE
2) Follow the instructions
3) Plug your device to the PC
4) Proceed
May take up to 10 minutes
Unfortunately, you have to relock your device before. Don't worry, you can still unlock it after
I am getting desparate with my phone state SGS3, as funny things are happening like it suddenly goes crazy and opens apps after apps etc... Also applications that can not be traced, I am currently on 4.1.2 XXELL4 version, and I got advised to wipe data partition and cache, which as I understand it quite risky process of losing what I have, so do PLEASE inform is there a safe way, like you guys develop programs for us amateurs to do it automatically and safely, regaining our previous phone state?
My intention is to really get rid of junks I have on my phone and get a nice new obedient one I had before?
Thank you
You should make a backup of all apps and contacts ( for contacts you can sync with google) and then go into recovery mode and do wipe data factory reset and wipe cache partition. Finally do reboot system now and then reinstall the app backup and restore contacts.
I hope i help you and i wait for your news.
Hoping you have a recovery mode called cwm, and are aware of it,
You can wipe cache and data
It would get your phone back in state as if it were out of the manufacturer's factory!
All apps you've installed would be wiped out

Can you Please also consider my other questions and guide me accordingly, thank you and wishing you great New Year!
Use a higher version of cwm...I'm sure it would be floating around in xda
Also just do a factory reset from settings or flash a new rom that should solve the issue
And Use TB Pro ..(just a suggestion) much more useful and worth the price...That can restore app's data and app alone as you wish...

you should be able to do a factory reset, that should solve your problem but you will lose all data and apps that you had installed In order to save your contacts, messages etc, its best to make backup first, you can download My Phone explorer to your PC and client to phone from google play store to backup everything before factory reset or flashing stock ROM
Factory reset is normally done by going into settings> privacy > factory reset. or it may be located in an another location in settings.
or you can follow this and flash a stock kernel to solve your problem
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

Hi. I have a Oneplus one bought few years ago, never updated. Since few days I can't run "system settings" app : when I click on the wheel or on "system settings" nothing happens!!!!!!! So I can't pair a new bluetooth or wifi device .......:crying:
Any "easy" solution?
Thank you.
unlock your bootloader maybe, flash twrp and flash new rom, it might be rom issue, maybe

Thank you, but is there not a easy way like downloading an system settings app?
Can't you just factory reset? It will reinstall system apps hence fix the issue.
Thank you.
When I read things about OPO factory reset, I can't understand what it erases exactly. I'd like to keep my apps and personnal datas.
Do you somethings about that?

Well, you could "dirty flash" from fastboot by flashing everything but userdata.img it will keep all your data and fresh install the OS. But only if you are running stock COS.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mirrors-for-official-cyanogen-roms-ota-updates.141825/
Ok. But how can I know if I'm running stock COS (I can't access system settings)?
What I know is that I've bought the phone 3 years ago and done nothing on it (no flash ......) so I think I run an official three years old OPO OS.
So is it a stock COS? (stock OS?)
Thank you for your help.

Ah, so you have the bootloader still locked, which means that to unlock it you would have to factory reset.
You should really backup your stuff and factory reset your phone. I do it once a month or even less.
One more thing I can suggest you is to delete cache, either system app cache or the whole system from the recovery.
Boot to recovery and wipe cache.
Hope it works, if it doesn't I really advise you to factory reset.
COS = CyanogenOS
Hey,
I want to completely wipe my Samsung S6 before I sell it/giver it away, so that when the new user won't find anything when they scan the device for deleted files.
What's the best way to achieve this?
I figured Encrypting my device and doing a factory reset or wipe within TWRP would suffice, but does it? Has anybody achieved a completely clean device and how?

IShredder works for me.. Or just do it oldschool.. Delete and factory reset. Stuff your phone with crap files to overwrite old files and do that as many times as you feel safe and done.. And if you want to experiment with it try to use some recovery software after to see if you got rid of everything

I think that only works for traditional hard drives rather than on flash memory (SSD/NAND) -- It would seem to me encrypting and factory reset/full wipe in TWRP would work better.
Installing stock firmware encrypts the phone, factory reset/full wipe to completely wipe the data including the key that unlocks the data and doing that another time would probably make data inaccessible especially after a time of use.
AFAIK custom roms are usually not encrypted to allow root to be installed.
I could be wrong however... Has anybody got experience using this method?
The phone needs to be encrypted first before performing a factory reset. Factory reset will make it look like all data has been deleted but actually personal info like photos, texts, emails etc will still be stored in memory and just marked as deleted. This means they can be quite easily restored if someone decides to use a data recovery tool on your phone once it's out of your hands. Both data encryption and factory reset can be done easily from the phone's settings. Data encryption is in the Lock Screen and Security section. Reset can also be done remotely from the findmymobile.samsung website
