Important call new feature - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys after nougat update on my s7, I noticed "important call" feature added when making phone call. What does it do?
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Same question. Yet to find the answer.

I think it's when you receive like 3 missed calls from "Important call" number, you will be alerted even though you muted your phone completly.
I think that is it

Anyone find out what it does?

thanks; do you have any source for that, please?
There's nothing about it in the manual, that I can see.

Google Voice Sync

Not sure if this was already posted, but no more relying on SMS for syncing!!!
Until I can see confirmation that this is effective and is not going to drain my battery, I'm staying put with the workaround which works great and works in seconds.
I have not used Google Voice a ton, but the new version seems to be tons slower at notifications. Today they took about about an hour to come.
Hell yeah! :d:d:d
anyone notice that when you call out use GV, it still displays your regular cell phone number rather than your GV number to the person you call. is there a way to fix this?

if you got the GV app and you're using it "for all calls" it should display your gv number...
PS the delay is about AT MOST 1-2 minutes on my hero... (side by side with internet inbox i mean) still better than AT LEAST 5minutes

works for me on DC v1
Can anyone confirm the new versions notifications does work correctly????
Does anyone know how to set Hero 2.1 to have to auto forward to GV so I can use that for my voicemail instead of Sprint? In fact does anyone know where the call forwarding is?

Running on a 1.5 ROM (TTG), the notifications in the new version do in fact work properly, and instantly. Woohoo, finally! In fact, while I was cleaning up old 'unread' messages via my PC, my phone was going 'ding' every time I deleted one and the 'new message' notification count changed.

When you are activating the feature on Google, as per instructions here at https://www.google.com/voice/sprint I believe they actually show you the code, *28XXXXXXXXXX, to punch in. Looking around now, I had to search a bit to find it, as I couldn't remember from doing it myself. Anyways, that is it, *28[Your GV Number], and then *38 if you ever want to turn it off.
I was using the SMS workaround. Just disabled SMS to my phone and left a test message.
I received notification on my phone within a minute.
Now, does it drain the battery? I wouldn't think it would as it is push and not a pull.
Oh, and the LED works.

*28 and *38 don't work for me, but the following do:
Call Forwarding - Unconditional = *72(number), *720 to turn off
Call Forwarding - No Answer = *73(number), *730 to turn off
Call Forwarding - Busy = *74(number), *740 to turn off

Fair enough. All the same, *28 is the official code for covering both conditions that normally required *73 and *74. It worked fine for me, and is well documented. Not sure why it wouldn't work for others, but I am no telco expert.
Also, for anyone who was wondering, yes they still charge for *72 (unconditional).

*28 also works for call forward - busy? For those using *28, how does this work/get along with call waiting?

First question: Yes, it does. I dug around a bit for come clarification and found this.
See comment from that article:
One is for CFB, the other for CFNA. *28 does both CFB and CFNA in one shot.

Second question: Not sure how *28 has affected call waiting specifically, but I can tell you that I hate trying to answer a second call in general since I started using GV. It's been a while since I bothered to try, in fact. I remember a few times pressing 'Answer' only to then have a GV voice prompt ask if I wanted to answer the second call or 'add it' to the existing call, and by the time it asks, the 2nd caller is gone and I am lucky to get back to the first. I got frustrated and stopped answering second incoming calls as there is rarely anyone I want to talk to that badly (including clients).
I doubt that my call waiting rant is helpful, but I had to get it off my chest. Whew!

Thanks for the info. I use call waiting a good bit. I often put my kids on hold when a business call comes in, so I'll stick with *73, but just for grins I'm gonna call Sprint and complain that my *28 isn't working.
Does anyone know if it is possible to have two different voicemail messages based on the number the other person dials? I know I can set up different messages for different groups, but I want one message for people who dial my cell # and one message for people who dial my GV#.

[APP] Anonymous Call Rejection

Hey XDA-Freaks!
Ever heard of the service called Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR)? A really useful feature.. if it is offered by your service provider. Over here in Germany it seems like only T-Mobile and O2 offer it, unfortunately Vodafone currently doesn't. That sucks.
Hence my question: Do you know of a software that would answer calls with suppressed number without letting me hear the ringtone and outputting a voice message to the anonymous caller telling "Your Caller ID is hidden. This person does not want anonymous calls. Please unhide your number and try again.."?
Drop suggestions and I'll smile for you.
Maybe this will do the job

I am not sure if it works in your country or not, but their is a voicemail service called youmail that I have used in the past. I had it set up so that it would ring a few times, and my voice mail would say "this number has been disconnected" and it would hang up. It only did this on numbers not in my contacts, or no caller id numbers.
From what I remember it had the option to ditch these numbers as well, but I am not sure if it would ring or not, as I have not used it in awhile.
Might be worth a try if not rooted.

I don't think Root Call Blocker can do it but Call Master from the same developer definitely can (and much more).
I have been using it for about a year now.

Hi, nice one on the cross there thanks
Yes sure we can do it with both CM and RCB.
But we can only send those callers to another place (a disconnected phone perhaps).

So what exactly is the difference between "Call Master" and "Root Call Blocker"? Both don't seem to be able to output a custom voice message to callers telling them why they where rejected. Not even the PRO version has the requested feature..
I use RCB and its great. Doesnt have the custom voice rejection youre looking for. Its more to block a caller and not having your phone ring. I use alternative rejection method. And that makes the caller think i picked up right away and hangs up quick. Without letting them go to voicemail. They have about 5 rejection methods.

missed calls not showing up

My dad is telling me about a problem when he misses a call, people leave a vm but there is no record of a missed call.
I tested this. I called him, he didn't answer, I left a message and hung up, the call did not show up as a missed call. my caller id is not blocked.
I tried calling him a different time and this time pushed decline on the call and left a vm, it recorded that and showed caller id.
Any ideas?

Did the first call test never show up in notification? was there a voicemail notification at least?
Is this stock or rooted/custom rom? What software version?
It's a stock rom
4.1.1 with Sense 4+, it doesn't say there are any software updates.

Can't receive calls on honor 6 x

Hey does anybody else have problems receiving calls from honor 6x? I can call and and text but can't receive calls. The caller hears the phone ring and then go to Voice mail but my phone doesn't even ring.
Are you using Jio, VoLTE or something like that to make calls?

Yes I already tried restarting as well as blocking all call forwarding and still no luck I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the update I presently have EMUI 5. 0.1

Anyway, did you ever took in consideration the idea of backup all your important data and factory reset it..?

I'm having the same problem - just this past week. I'm missing very important phone calls as well and I can't figure out why. My setting show that the ringtone volume is all the way up. It's not on silent. Have you gotten yours fixed?
I'm having the exact same problem. It's random so you wouldn't know that you're missing a call until much later when you restart the phone. I just missed an interview call yesterday and had to email the interviewer to try again after restarting my phone ... this is disastrous.
I'm also having the same problem how do I get it fixed
Not sure if I have the same problem. I can't receive calls and text after the phone idle for approx 2hrs. Launching dialer doesn't help. I factory reset it twice and no help. I discover placing a call will make it, or reboot. Still looking into it. Testing my SIM on another phone in the mean time.

I've exactly the same problem that you discribe, but for me it's after 5 minutes idle... I've tested my SIM in another phone (iphone 5c) and the problem persist so it's mayby a problem with the Mobile network operator or the SIM card.
Also experiencing the same issue as well. Thought it was because I was connected to wi-fi at home and calls go straight to voicemail from what callers are telling me.
same here - no incomming calls seemingly at random
Looks like I'm a bit late to the party but I'm still trying to figure this out too. It seems to happen at my house, not sure if it happens other places or not. I also have noticed when i try to make an outgoing call my 4g disappears. Perhaps its not making or receiving calls for whatever reason through the 4g tower / band? I'm just now testing with 4g off but remaining on my home wifi. Annoying for sure. I've been happy with the 6x and hope its not a device specific problem.
I just found this thread after being fed up with this phone. My guess with why this happen is because the phone sleeps. I noticed that whenever Im not using the phone, like when I sleep or when Im working on the computer, it's when I don't receive calls or get delayed messages. It's not just SMS as well, it's other messaging apps too.. My current fix right now, is to send myself a text message, right after I wake up or after I havent touched the phone in a while, and then the messages starts to roll in. If any one of you guys find a better solution, please do let me know, cause this is very frustrating.
I'm having the same problem as so many others with my Honor 6 randomly not ringing. I've tried restarting, testing SIM card, replacing SIM card, "waking it up" periodically. Nothing works. I have both personal and a Google Voice business lines coming through my phone. I'll hear it ring on my computer, but not my phone for about 50% of the incoming business calls. Personal calls I just miss.
Has anyone had any luck with a solution, other than dumping it and buying a new phone? I keep thinking it must be some setting that's set wrong.

Outgoing call waiting notification

does anyone know if there is a way to supports Outgoing call waiting notification? By this I mean if you call someone who is already on the phone, it tells you that your call is waiting?

Thanks for you reply, yes but if you called him and he already in another call the phone will be ringing without showing any notification
I'm also missing this feature, used to be norm to have on all phones in the old days, but now only a few phones support it.
Would be great if there was a way to activate this.
