I've put together some stock flashable TWRP zips which will install firmwares for the US996. Since this is a TWRP flashable ZIP this assumes you've already got access to TWRP. I use these to update or restore the stock image easily. Wiping data so far has not been required but if you experience issues you may want to consider it.
These zips flash every partition included in the latest firmware. If you want to err on the safe side (which is what I do before testing these) you could dump images of you current partitions to roll back to in case of an issue. (dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/{partition} of=/external_sd/backup/{partition}.img). You'll find all partitions in the updater-script.

SPL = Security Patch Level
Instructions:
Boot into TWRP ("reboot recovery" from shell)
Put us99610*.zip onto /external_sd/
TWRP -> Install -> /external_sd/us99610*.zip
Install your desired root: Magisk or SuperSU
TWRP -> Reboot -> System
Your device may reboot a couple times and this is normal. You will then boot into the system.
What does it do?
Flashes partition images (skipping recovery) from the kdz - http://lg-firmwares.com/lg-us996-firmwares/
Moves /system/recovery-from-boot.p to /system/recovery-from-boot.bak to prevent stock recovery from being installed on boot
Wipes cache & dalvik-cache
Note
These firmwares are a mix between USA (Unlocked US996), UCL (US Cellular), and BPT (Brightpoint) but have not had problems running cross-variants. However, one thing I'd like to point out is an issue I saw reported by another user. They stated that after they flashed US Cellar US996 updates (10h/10k/10l) their Unlocked US996 device was being picked up as the US Cellular device when attempting to use the LG website bootloader unlock. This is most likely due to the US Cellular bootloader being flashed and the device reporting a US Cellular device ID. This hasn't caused any issues when your device has already been bootloader-unlocked but I would not suggest that users re-lock their bootloader when running this US Cellular firmware as you may risk running into problems unlocking. The same user had also reported that they just flashed the 10f kdz with LGUP to correct the problem but not a risk I'd like to see anyone take. Just a word of caution.
Special thanks to,

Thanks for this! Just curious, is there an actual reason we would need to format data and factory reset? Isn't this just basically the same as updating, just more manually than taking the OTA? Like the same as extracting factory images and manually flashing them on Nexus devices?

I'm just not sure that if during the OTA update there are special steps to migrate data to be compatible with the new firmware. To err on the safe side I just suggested you format. Considering it's 7.0 -> 7.0 I don't see why there would be an issue leaving your data in place so if anyone tries it, definitely report back! I personally like starting fresh slate when upgrading.

Has the unlocked US996 gotten 10i? I was only aware of 10f. That is the only .kdz I've got access to.
Alright, finally flashed it without wiping anything. Went just fine :good:

Awesome... since I'm new here, may I ask if there's anything that a KDZ can do that this can't? Other than "prepare the phone for a warranty return" or "sell on Swappa as stock" ??? As you know from the other thread... I'm trying to recover from some problems I was having, and I suspect that I have some corruption. I need to burn it down and hope it rises from the ashes.

There are three files in the KDZ which aren't used in the zip: "BackupGPT", "PrimaryGPT", and "recovery". The first two appear to be the partition table structure and the last being the stock recovery. So if your partition layout got messed up, LGUP+KDZ would be able to fix that where the zip won't. I don't know for sure what else LGUP has to offer on top of that, but from what it sounds like, LGUP + KDZ can restore a bricked phone to stock. I've never had to use LGUP myself...fortunately.
What are the MD5 hashes of the zip files? I downloaded the US996-10h file, and tried to flash it, and TWRP says it's invalid. Did I do something wrong?

I've got an MD5 of 9516ecc55cc3b167154ab184fb419c4b on 10h. I went ahead and downloaded the file from the link and it matches the source file I uploaded. Possibly a bad download? Give it another shot if the MD5 doesn't match. If it does match...let me know ha.
CONFIRMED! successfully flashed your US996-10h package, followed by Magisk 11.6 and it's booted and rooted! thanks for all your work and help! btw, Magisk v13.0 (0b4baad) also works in case anyone was curious. 12.0 seems to be fscked for all LGV20...
EDIT: with 10d, 10f, and now 10h whenever I reboot the screen brightness always resets to 100% even after I've set it to auto. does this happen to anyone as well?

Yep. Bad download. It was 0.2GB shy.
I flashed the new one... and I can't thank you enough that it actually worked! Magisk v13 is installed and SafetyNet passes! I really like some of the bonuses that WETA ROM offered (bandwidth monitor and other battery/clock choices)... but I might stick with this for a while just because I've tried so long to get that crazy issue fixed.
A TWRP-flashable solution was exactly what I needed because LGUP was *not* working for me. It wouldn't even run on my PC, let alone get to the point where it would recognize my phone and flash a full fw.
:good::good::good:I wish I could thank the OP 1000x.:good::good::good:
nice, thanks for this. i'm gonna flash to just go back to a stock rooted 10f rom.

I tried to get it too, but since my phone is the z017, it can only see ota's for itself.
but the ota only patches system, boot and radio, so if someone is couraged to port, it may be not that hard.
for z017 ota links, mention me everytime a new one appears and i'll give the link for it.
if someone unlocked a z012 with unofficial method, contact me so I help you get the link to post here and help the community.

Is the flashfire app effective? I tried it and updated to the latest ze520kl update. Everything went smoothly, but, I am not sure why but my wifi was disabled. I tried clearing cache and did not work. Not sure if the app did not work correctly or if it was an issue with the latest update. That said i downgraded using the same tool and got everything working again.
I think there is an issue with the new update. What do you guys think? Did any of you guys also had an issue with the new update?

This is what I do follow while applying Delta OTA.
No need to flash back stock boot/recoveries and no need as well to reinstall twrp back.
Steps using FlashFire, Flash as zip/ota option:
1. Load 'UL-ASUS_Z017D_1-WW-14.2015.1701.8-user'
2. Load 'WW_ZE520KL-14.2015.1701.8-14.2015.1701.13-fota-user'
3. Load 'WW_ZE520KL-14.2015.1701.13-14.2020.1703.28-fota-user'
4. Remove tickmark from 'Inject SuperSU'
5. Add SuperSU zip, Which I've modded according to asus ramdisk of ours. Which is attached in here under my post.
Flash!
Note: FlashFire will take a minute or two to load flash, have patience.
* Reason I've to edit standard SuperSU package was for 'init.asus.rc' file in our ramdisk, which unset PATH during 'on init' event. So i added those params back in supersu's zip to append '/su/bin' in PATH

Hello,
Sorry for that I got it now why it's happened.
Follow an extra step.
Extract ".28" firmware replace META-INF folder with attached below.
Zip the '.28' firmware back and rename it as 28_dummy.zip
Now follow above flashfire load 1-4 steps and as a 5th step add '28_dummy.zip' and as a 6th step as above supersu step and it'd definately work.

You can do via dload only. Earlier i uswd to update just by flashing the stock recovery but recently on 6X this messed up badly may be volte and hence update failed and then it gave me to download the full firmware with prompt as your data partition is messed up amd needs to be fixed and after downloading the fill OTA update, got success. But then proceeded with debranding the next night

Hey brother, i tried many times to update from B360 to B365 (not full package, only 547MB) reflashing stock B360 recovery, but i always receive errors while recovery is verifying the package. I tried even dload method with .zip archives but i always achieve a failure and it is just boooooring :silly: You know other methods to try? Like adb or terminal emulator commands to update, or else... I cannot figure out how to correctly update my device. I have both B365 packages, FULL or partial OTA update downloaded. Thanks in advance

Cant believe you are facing issues now who helps every new user.
Nope bro. I still recommend to use dload only to flash full firmware. It should be full firmware and not the 547 MB.
Just to be in stock and use one of the app today, I relocked bootloader but then got the prompt as my data partition is damaged and need format. I allowed and then it was only erecovery and bootloader.
Then i unlocked and it went straight to twrp. And from there reboot to system works fine. I have the files and once really needed i will dload but problem with stock is that it doesn't have in-built call recording.
Edit-What is exact firmware BLN-L21CXYZB365?

Well let's say that looks like it's my turn now; Huawei mechanisms are much complicated sometimes, a little detail can let you puzzle an hour like and maybe it's only a joke. My previous device was a Samsung, so except common Android related functions EMUI is a new world for me. Only full firmware will work so, ok. Do i have to reinstall every app, or modify again my whole settings menu if i update using the full firmware package, i suppose..? What do you mean with "use one of the app today"? I didn't relocked bootloader because i thought that stock recovery could be enough. Overall, the risk to encounter an error like yours would be a bore, generally. Which files are you referring to, update files? My full build number is BLN-L21C432B360, I'm trying to update to B365.
However if you need call recording function (me too), there's a working method posted by an user in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/themes/callrecord-t3650864 that enables official call recording function from EMUI, check it. I followed this months ago on my BLN-L21, who had no call record at all by default in my firmware, and it flawlessly worked. I recommend it to you.

I was using Tez app from play store but it didnt work may be because i am rooted with unlocked bootloader and need to bypass the safety check.
For call recording, I am already usimg a zip since debranding and works fine. I have Posted in 5C repository. But we need to be rooted for this with custom recovery.
If you are rooted then can take twrp backup and restore apps if on stock and non rooted then hisuite.
As far as i have tested on my 5c, dload won't wipe data but still i would recommend to have full backup brother.

Surely I'll take a backup pal, i already got burned time ago and now i never do something without doing a nandroid backup bfore Thanks for the link, but i already have the FULL package downloaded OTA stored on my PC, so as suggested even by another user today I'll try again dload method but with full package other than partial one, it shouldn't erase my data and even if it should, I'll have a system image.
Only one thing now; in the folder where OTA was saved on my phone, as habit i found 3 packages; update.zip, update_data_public.zip and update_BLN-L21_hw_eu.zip. In this case, in dload folder on my phone i have to extract all the zips or only the main update.zip and leave the other two zipped?

Extract and use only main update.zip, put all files in dload and it will do.
Have backup but I just tested and flashed full B340 again on my phone and no data loss.

Thanks for the tip brother!
So this evening i tried to use only the extracted files from the main update.zip in dload folder; then, via ProjectMenu, i choose software upgrade and loaded the update after reflashing stock recovery for B360, that i took from your repository thread, since that time ago i didn't made a copy of my stock recovery before flashing TWRP. What i obtained was a soft-brick, i really don't know why on earth because usually it just fails at 5% while verifying the package and stop, it reboots to system... so i flashed again TWRP from fastboot and now i'm restoring my backup made today.
Crap, Huawei just CAN'T make things like updating OTA such difficult! I uninstalled Magisk before doing that, but i think that it fails because i miss a clean stock boot.img. Anyway WTF all these steps for an OTA is foolish.
I provided a guide how I managed to update my rooted device and keep all my stuff, settings and apps and reroot.
Just take a look here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...rootet-h6x-t3684758/post74102863#post74102863
I already did two successful updates with this method.
If there is a question just ask in that forum.

Sorry to hear you that bro.
I myself flashed the same firmware yesterday to test this without backup (hisuite backup taken on 7th). I did via dload the same firmware and it was successful without any data loss, but yeah, I lost root, call recording feature that I flashed 20 days back.
I was planning to return to full stock because I know OTA will mess up if received on this state.
Not sure what went wrong buddy with your case. If it is due to any of the file in repository, I apologise for it.

Updato is one way; this shows the list for the Verizon S5 with the most recent at the top; they haven't gotten the new update up yet though.
I think that another way would be for someone to dig through the update.zip file which would be on the phone of someone who got the OTA update downloaded but had not yet installed it yet.
To confirm, the only thing that's different between the dev-friendly version (when it comes out) and the stock is the missing aboot? Thanks again.

Is this flashable with Odin only or possibly need to already be on a specific kernal? I have tried on two S5900V's through TWRP and both result in a failure message. Both are on jkruse de-bloated MM rom at the moment.

Since no one wanted to chime in and help me out in my post, you need to unzip the file and load the md5 into Odin's AP slot and flash it. Then let the phone do its thing and flash the latest TWRP with odin after. Then go back into TWRP and flash supersu to gain root again. Trying to flash right within TWRP is not an option, not sure why its not explained.

I always flash super su and whatever else I need in recovery after I've flashed the rom so I cant give you a definitive answer. Both phones did upgrade without data loss and now advanced calling/wifi calling actually work now which is why I flashed in the first place.

If you flash the dev boot loader friendly version it wont screw with your bootloader whatsoever. Before you restart go back in TWRP and flash supersu to get root again. Saying it "unlocked boot loader" may cause confusion to people because it does not, you need to manually go from locked to DEV status via a few of the methods posted in here.

Ive not had twrp or root on this device but it went from saying vzw official binary to samsung original. Will i be able to root as long as twrp flashes?
The link below is a stock flashable zip of the LG V20 10p ROM. I extracted it from the latest 10p KDZ file using kdztools and python 2.7 on Windows. I built the ROM from the extraction using Superrs kitchen version 3 on Linux.
A HUGE thanks goes out to Superr who is ALWAYS helpful and I couldn't do this with out his help.
READ ALL WARNINGS BEFORE PROCEEDING
This rom is not rooted but you can flash magisk or SuperSU to root it. It does not flash recovery. It does not encrypt.
Using magisk it works with both Samsung and Android [email protected] which is the main reason I built it.
Issues: none, but see warnings
Flash at your own risk. I'm not responsible if your device gets bricked.
Warnings based on what we know:
WARNING #1 You must flash the 10p modem and bootloader for this to work. If you don't you will soft brick.
WARNING #2 Once you go to 10p modem and bootloader you can't go back to previous versions. If you try you will HARD brick your device.
WARNING #3 10P rom only works with 10p modem and 10p bootloader. Any other combo SOFT bricks.
WARNING #4 TWRP backups of previous versions will not restore correctly once you are on 10p. When you restore a previous version (10k and before) you will soft brick. You can unbrick by just installing the 10p ROM, modem, and bootloader over the top of your restore *****Restores and Backups of 10p roms work just fine.
BOTTOM LINE: Going to 10p is a TOTAL commitment and there probably will never be a way to go back. That said, I'm on 10p and so far it works great.

Get 10p Modem and 10p bootloader here:

*****Be sure to thank the OP on that thread!*****
Here's the stock 10p kernel, just for grins. 10n and 10p Kernels are both ARB 1 and work with this ROM
drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3y-9RMsaMSbYk56a2txV3gtMkE
Clean install instructions: twrp backup, wipe, install ROM, install 10p modem, install 10p bootloader, install root of your choice, reboot
Dirty install works fine over Weta ROM or NATF ROM, but not over aosp or lineage roms: twrp backup, install ROM, install 10p modem, install 10p bootloader, install root of your choice, reboot.
Enjoy. Please give thanks if this ROM is helpful for you.

I know but if you turn off play store notifications (block them) you won't get bugged about the 10p update and by default you won't accidentally say yes to it ?
I know it says you can't restore previous backups, but can you do a full install of pre-10p ROMs if you decide this one isn't suitable?

No Nougat modem is available until the flashable (non OTA) full stock 7.0 rom is made available from Motorola. This is not likely to happen. No issues have been mentioned running this update on a 6.0 modem. Not sure what the advantages are honestly. I never had problems with bt, wifi, or calls with the 6.0 modem firmware.
Create a backup beforehand and you can always go back to it.

This is not a traditional TWRP zip file. It is a backup file. You need to unzip it and put it in the backup directory. You then restore backup, choose the nph25-200-22. . . directory, and away you go!

Well it worked, sort of. It booted to stock but it wasn't stable and the play store kept crashing, I tried all the usual stuff for that, clear services & play store data, uninstall updates, finally tried a factory reset and now I'm stuck in TWRP bootloop, even if I reinstall this image.
So very much YMMV.
