quite normal, but not overheating..
It's normal for you device to generate a little heat while charging as long as it doesn't get unusually hot you are fine.

Do you mean that you get a warning after leaving it plugged in all night?
If so, check to make sure that your cable is connected properly. On some cables, the connectors are not fully touching.
What I was trying to say is. Usually the battery is able to charge fully overnight. But then it probably just sits there with the charger in until morning when I pull it out. I was wondering if the extra time its charging on full battery is bad.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R
Nope, its not bad, whenever the phone reaches 100% it disconnects the charger till it drops to 95%,then it starts charging again and so on,at least that's the case with my phone on official and custom roms

Nope i've had 20 diff phones and never followed charging cycles and all that let your battery run down and charge it up nonsense. Never had any battery issues ever with any of my phones

I put it on charge when I go to bed, and unplug it when I wake up. Just make sure to keep it in open where the phone isn't covered.
Thanks for the responses! I wont worry about this anymore.

Make sure to always use quality, reputable chargers and not the ones you buy at the flea market that say "Made in the Democratic Republic of the Congo".
Lol no problem. I still have the charger that came with it

Battery
Yes it is bad, because it will overcharge your battery. It takes a while, but if you overcharge your battery constantly then the battery life slowly starts decreasing until it dies.

In a sense this is correct as the same as playing on your phone while its charging I wonder if we have a unplug app when I was on the evo we had a app that would disconnected the charger when full and wouldn't read it until the battery was at 80%

The phone doesn't actually charge the battery to 100% unless you're using an SBC kernel. You can leave it on the charger as long as you want and it will never overcharge unless you have some kind of malfunction.
Been only charging overnight since I got the phone last May.

I use my phone as alarm and it charges every night since I've had it. No issues with battery unless I flash a rom that is a battery hog.

My tf700 sometimes drops to 97% while using it charged, is this normal?
I haven't had this happen, but I wouldn't say it's abnormal yet. Try letting the tablet die, then fully charge it with it off. Then letting it die again. Hopefully it should get your battery back to normal.

Yes. Trying to keep a Li-ion battery at 100% charge all times is bad for the battery.
Yes that's normal. The charger only charges to 100% when sleeping. Every other time it goes to 97% to spare the battery, plus usage eats about 3% anyway.. (Lithium-Ion batteries live longest when kept between 60 and 90%. Fully draining and charging is actually rather bad for it. The only reason you do it once or twice is to recalibrate the battery-level indication.)
It is very difficult to fully drain a mobile devices battery. Notice if you attempt to power the device on it after it "dies", it will notify you the battery is too low, thus the battery is never "empty".

Yes, it's enabled and on performance mode. Is it just my tablet?

Ah, there we have it. WiFi drains the power like a vampire. (The folklore kind, not the sparkly ones. ) That's what's causing the drops, with WiFi on the battery lasts about 3-4 hours as opposed to 9. Performance mode spikes the CPU from 1.5ghz to 1.8ghz, and that also drains more power.
There's nothing wrong with your tablet's battery.
Is it safe to charge the battery overnight?
I mean, charging more than 100%, charging over the 3-4 hours needed, charging for 7-8 hours..
I think it won't effect it cuz i charge my phone from overnight too.nothing happens.
when battery gets full it stops charging after that
Of course
I've been doing that for a year.
Usually my battery reaches 10% at the end of the day, then I just leave it charging over night.
Thanks, i've been doing it since I bought the phone but I've never really cared until now..
Do you guys turn off the phone before charging overnight?
No. I don't know how does it affect the quality/capacity of battery though!
I remember as a kid I had those RC-cars and there were always warnings about how it will 'destroy' the battery if it is charged for too long. lol.
I don't have any battery problems.
Just make sure your LED isn't turned on!
I once forgot it on overnight...
It's a little dimmer now. :c
They said once it reachs 100% to stop charging. It can have an negative impact on your battery. Lithium technology or not. But I do it too. I think it just shorten the life span on a slow scale.

Here is the thing...
Yes the phone has a voltage shut off when it reached 100%.
However, it will start to drain battery immediately once it cuts off charging. Even when idle with teh screen off it uses some power. And once it drops to 99% it will start charging again until it reached 100%.
Depending on your set up and how much the phone runs when idle it would keep 'topping off' the battery several times overnight. This is harsh on the battery.
So it's not like once it cuts off charging it stays off until it's unplugged and replugged in. It'll keep charging everytime it drops to 99%

Hey guys,
You can see the problem in the Screenshot. At one point the phone stops charging fast and goes on charging very slow. It looks like the phone thinks the battery is full and minimizes the charging power. It is a 1500mah battery, bought a few days ago. I also calibrated the battery at 100% in the 4ext recovery. CM 10.2 from 08.08.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Provably not a problem at all. My guess would be that the battery or charging circuits were getting too hot so it dropped the charging current - fairly normal behavior.
The phone is staying completely cool. I think the calibration is wrong. It is supposed to charge slower at 90% Not something like 50

I suspect a cheap battery... What brand is it?
Its a german brand MTec, oder via ebay.
I've noticed my battery does the exact same thing. Charges quickly to around 50% and then very slow for the remaining 50%. I'm using the original HTC battery that came with my Desire S so I just presumed that it was either the due to the battery aging or perhaps due to the CM 10.1 I'm running. Can't say I noticed this charging behaviour before I used CM 10.1 but I didn't immediately notice it after flashing either.
My phone takes around 8 hours to do a full charge. I've noticed that I can get it to charge to 100% more quickly if I let it charge to near 50%, unplug it and leave it for 5/10 mins, then plug it in again. It's starts off with a fast charge again. It slows after a while but overall it's a quicker way to get to 100%. It's probably not the best thing for your battery to do that regularly so I don't do it unless I need it to charge quickly.
Phone has been charging and discharging fine ,until Saturday ,toolkit off charge and after about 30 mins use I noticed battery still showing 100%,restarted phone and it came back on at 94%.It did the same today but when restarted came back on at 98% after a little use,so plugged back into to charger which sat at 98% for a while until I unplugged and straight away was reading 100% Using essential phone charger and nothing else ,any ideas ?
What are you complaining? Phone sips battery on idle and uses a little more on reboot?
