FHD vs WQHD Nougat - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

How much difference of SOT is there? Could anyone test this out? My daily usage varies wildly, so I am unfortunately unable to test.

FHD gives me 30~ more minutes SOT

There's definitely something with the thermal management of the processor, as evidenced by the difference in Antutu scores hot vs cold where I see 30% difference, low 70000 versus > 100000 - and by "hot" I mean after 10 minutes of browsing, not playing intense games.
That said, compared to a similar spec phone like Elephone S8 the Redmi Pro looks pretty good. With a similar battery rating and X25 if I leave both idle the Redmi Pro still has 35% charge when the Elephone S8 hits zero. Yes the Elephone has a larger screen, but by idle I mean mostly just sitting there with the screen off.
Can't comment on the Moto X Play but if the Snapdragon 615 is anything like the 625 in, say, the Redmi Note 4X then battery life will blow it out of the water and performance will remain pretty much constant (it never gets "hot hot"). But... so here's the thing, in Antutu the performance never reaches the heights of the X25 at it's hottest/worst.

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Elephone S8's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Battery lasts a couple of hours, 22 hours playing a game on minimum brightness is nothing but a pipe dream for this phone. 4 year old oneplus one battery performs better than this battery.
The 2K screen, while the best thing about the phone, is the real energy hog. If I need longer stand-alone battery life, I use ADB to drop the resolution to 1080p. I get about a 30%-40% boost that way.

That's interesting, what the hell did they make the screen out of, 2000 year technology. The battery is rubbish, I think it's the batteries quality, it's like you have Duracell and then you have £1 discount Kodak batteries where you get 20 in a pack this is the latter. What's the point in in having a 2K screen of you can't use it, do you know what I mean? I have to charge it up 3 times a day with moderate gaming, YouTube ect on low brightness. I could have get a better spec phone 6gm ram Snapdragon SoC with 1080p screen but the 2K blows all their screen out of the water.
3 Times a day?! maybe you should give it a factory reset. That shouldn´t be normal. Maybe the battery life is not the best in comparsion to other 4000mah phones ... but i get at least 2 days with a screen on time around 4-6hours before i have to charge the device. An thats @ Stock rom, the eragon rom should boost this even further.
I agree. If you're charging it 3 times a day, either your phone has an issue or your usage patterns aren't as moderate as you think they are.
average
I use my phones for radio/streaming in the car using android auto. I have to keep my s8 plugged in else the battery just gets eaten

Best experience with screen resolution and refresh?

Hi all,
I just get my note20 ultra in LATAM (N985F unfortunatelly with the 8GB RAM only), but that is OK, it works, so far so good not as i wanted because i came from Note10+ with 12GB of RAM, but not big difference.
I want to ask you about your experience about what is the best combination in screen resolution and the refresh rate.
As it is not possible to use WQHD+ with the Adaptive rate (60 and 120), what do you recommend for better battery life and experience? WQHD+ with 60Hz or FHD+ with Adaptive mode?
Will i notice any difference between WQHD+ and FHD+ so far?
Thanx!
Personally I can't tell the difference between the two display settings but I can see the difference between refresh rates.
It's upto you what you want to experience in regards to 60 or 120hz but I prefer to give up a little battery for better refresh rate.
Phone Buff found a difference in battery drain between 60 & 120hz: https://youtu.be/CYnFhpNSbdk
I think the battery life is garbage regardless of that setting.

Yes, i think the same, the battery from this note20 ultra is not like the previous note10+, it was much better experience with the note10.
Not sure if this should be related with software or what, but hope it can be improved

When does Adaptive Refresh Rate Work?

I've set the refresh rate to adaptive then I used an app to monitor my framerate.
When I open a game (e.g. Among Us) the fps does change from 120 to 60.
But when I watch videos on Netflix or Youtube, it stays at 120 despite both apps not supporting this framerate.
So when does it actually "adapt" aside from games?
interesting..I have no idea personally although I have been curious of the same. I can tell you that battery life on mine (SD865) has been pretty terrible, like 2-4 hours SOT over the course of a normal day (12 ish hour period) whereas my S20+ had nearly double the SOT.
I doubt the refresh rate is actually changing like they claimed it would.
