Whenever I try to customise Google now, it turns an error "failed to load settings". I googled and find this problem occuring to many people from past 2 years but working solution is nowhere to find. Really sad. Anyone have any idea?
make sure you have latest google apps installed and give the google play, services, app all the permissions available. after that you should be able to configure it without any issues

I've had a good hunt around both the xda forums, and the internet, hoping I could solve this problem without troubling anyone else, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Y running 2.3.6 and rooted. I was recently having some issues where I'd get an alert saying "Insufficient Internal Memory", I cleared just about every app out, and was still getting the error, so, in a last ditch effort, did a factory reset. The reset went fine, but for one problem.
The Google Marketplace app wouldn't update to Google Play, and I was unable to download or update apps. After trying all the usual solutions, such as clearing the cache and simply waiting, I got a friend to upload the .apk for their Play Store, which was the latest version and running without an issue. I then installed this .apk, rebooted, and found that the app had technically installed, but the icon was completely blank, the only evidence of it was in Settings>Apps. After three reboots it eventually showed an icon for the Play Store in my app drawer. However when tap it, it starts to open, freezes, quickly flashes an error message, and then closes. The error message isn't on screen long enough to read, but I think I can get the words "Sorry!" and "Procedure".
I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Anyone out there who knows the ins and outs of Android better than me, have any idea?
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
What do u really need update to Google play from market?
I always uninstall the update of market to play,. Market is better...
So let mobile on its own upload the martket, dont do manually if u need play...
Then it may be solved,i think...

Ever since the recent update I have had nothing but problems with google apps when flashing custom ROMs, specifically Play Store, Hangouts, and Google Now. Everything else seems to be working fine.
Hangouts gives the "can't reach Google at this time" message, Play Store has no connection, and Google Now just flat out doesn't work.
I have tried every ROM and every possible fix I can find and nothing has worked. Is there anybody else that has had this problem or maybe know of a fix that searching around hasn't already given me?
This issue has just started happening to me over the past 2-3 days, and I cannot figure out a permanent fix for it! Let me start by saying that my OPO is not rooted, and the only updates to the ROM have been the official ones that have been released (I'm currently on CM version 11.0-XNPH44S). Every time I attempt to open the Play Store, it crashes immediately afterward with the "unfortunately google play store has stopped" error. I looked at the error report and it states : [CRASH] com.android.vending threw java.lang.IllegalArguementException as the subject then the first line of the content reads: "java.lang.illegalarguementexception: view android.widget.listview{41ab7730 VFED.VC. .F...... 0,0-1080,1845 #7f0a02dd app:id/play_drawer_list} is not a drawer".
I know nothing about Java, so I have no idea what this means, and there are 18 lines of equally incomprehensible text after that. I've tried clearing the data, cache, etc. from the app with no change. The only thing that works is when I uninstall the updates, taking the Play Store back to v. 4.9.13. However, in almost all cases it auto-updates immediately back to 5.1.1, so I'm still not able to use it. I read somewhere about disabling the background data usage in settings, but then you're not allowed to download anything from the store.
Is anyone else having the same issue, or can you suggest an idea as to how to fix it without my rooting the device and having to back up the nearly 700 apps I have on it? TYSM in advance!

Hallo ,
I have exactly the same problem and fail to solve,If anyone can help I would be grateful !
Same problem here, any fix yet?
Hi everybody.
I'm new here, and haven't helped anyone yet. Still I hope somebody wants and actually can help me. Thanks in advance.
First & foremost: I searched for the problem before posting this and everywhere it says that Cyanogen fixed the 'Google Play Service' error. However, something is definately wrong with my phone as it won't boot anymore.
I'll try to keep it as short as possible:
Phone: One Plus One w Cyanogen mod. 64gb model.
I was on holiday last month and got a notification of an update. I installed it. After that I was experiencing the problem everybody seemed to have. Popups every 30 seconds (or less) saying the Google Play Services have stopped. As I was on holiday and didn't have Wifi at the time I was just irritated by the errors. I needed my phone for navigation (I was doing a roadtrip) and although Google Maps wasn't working anymore, Nokia Here maps was still operating and so I thought to solve the problem when I return home. However, a few weeks ago another update appeared on my phone and I was thinking this might be the fix for the problem so I installed it. Unfortunately the errors still appeared.
Then I found a workaround to stop the errors, I uninstalled the updates for Google Play Services. This stopped the errors, and still some apps were not working (GPS based apps) but at least the errors were gone.
Yesterday I tried to solve the problem. I read a lot online and decided to install the newest Google Play Services file. Unfortunately it didn't work. Errors returned but now I could also not enter the Google play store anymore. This should have been the moment to back up important files... but I didn't. Stupid me forgetting about lesson 1, logic 101... so stupid.
Ok, so this morning I stumbled upon a page from problogbooster.com and decided to follow Solution 1, which says:
Go to Settings >> Select Security >> Device administrators >> Deactivate Android Device Manager
Uninstall Google Play services update
Go to Settings >> Application Manager >> All >> Google Play services >> Select Uninstall Updates
If you use an app that requires the latest Google Play services, you’ll get an update prompt and the update may immediately be reinstalled.
Now again go to Settings >> Select Security >> Device administrators >> ACTIVATE Android Device Manager
Reboot your device.
After this reboot my phone doesn't start anymore. I'm sick of it. All my pics from my holiday are on there... and I would love to be able to back them up.
Does anybody have an idea on what to try next? Hooking it up through USB hasn't given me access to my files unfortunately.
Thanks in advance for anything that can help. Cheers.
Peter.
Update: every now and then it will try to boot, updating my apps (as if I just did an update) but when it's finished it just reboots again... and again.
The Cyanogen MOD ready screen is showing but nothing.
As there are no responses yet, let me narrow down the question:
Is there a possibility to access my photo's on the phone from the recovery menu? Or through ADB connection? Or through Fastboot? I don't care about the phone. The data matters to me. If it was the other way around I would just go back to factory settings and continue using and take the loss... but I don't want to accept that (yet...)
Pretty please, can someone help me with this?
Cheers
Peter.
Since I upgraded to Android 12, Google Assistant is randomly crashing, mostly when asking a location question like "where is the next supermarket". It starts with "I have found severa-" and then just force closes.
I have found out, that opening Google Maps sometimes randomly makes it to work, but then 1-2 days later it starts to crash again. Also activating "ok google" command seems to fix it for a while, I disable it, working, but then some days later it starts to crash again.
Have tried to remove Google app, reinstall Google app, clear Google app data, install Google Beta App, nothing helped.
Here is a list of countless people having the same issue:

Anyone on here found out how to solve it? Factory reset also doesnt seem to fix it.
This is unbelievable, no official bug ticket so far it seems by Google, that they are even aware about the issue.
I have found out what is causing it and how to solve it. Read my reddit post on here how to fix it, who is affected by it:
