So i am unable to install tarp on 810j i have tried everything is there any way to downgrade.. To an earlier build with root is working
I don't know what is you talking about.
Model?
Version?
If you refer H918, you can root with 10j as I did on mine.

You cannot use Easy Cow method.
You must do it manually by inputting command one by one.
I did the manual method and successfully rooted both 10i and 10j.

Windows or Mac? Just type in the file location. In Mac, I can drag and drop the file. You dont need to put thrm files in the same folder.
Look, open your emulator. If it says C/ (whatever name it is) make sure you have all your files saved to C/ (whatever name it is). That's why it took me 7 hours to root.

Have you downloaded the TWRP from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=11051#downloads
If you did, try the file named: twrp-osprey-2.8.7-test1.img because the R2 and R3 versions didn't work for me, only the test1 version.
Also, remember to use this command in adb after unlocking the bootloader:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-osprey-2.8.7-test1.img
Try this, I believe it will work for you.

ive using the command you posted so should i go to recovery mode and launch it using that i want to make sure in case thats what i was doing wrong
Well I've managed to root it and I'm now looking for some great apps to install also what's a good app to determine what apps can and cannot use?
10i for T-Mobile V20 H918 is out.
It's still anti-rollback v00. :good:
Android Security Patch: 2016-12-01 (dirtycow/recowvery patched)
Download Link
UPPERCUT should work if using LGUP/KDZ.
If you flash this KDZ there is no current root method for 10i... so no TWRP etc (at this very moment anyway).
Everyone who can only boot to download mode.. this should save you.
those w/TWRP already can use the images (or wait for someone to make a flashable "rom" zip.
H91810-system.img.zip is just the system.img compressed, not a flashable zip.
if flashing the stock system.img/boot.img be careful not to lose TWRP..
delete the "recovery-from-boot.p" in system while still in TWRP if you want to be extra safe.
I don't have a V20 and won't be supporting this thread. Just providing files.
Thanks for this. Wonder what the changes from v10d are (other the exploit patch)
If and when someone creates a flashable zip, can we flash SuperSU after we flash the ROM to still have root?
Great.. My replacement is coming today which means it'll probably self update on first boot before I can do anything about it..
I love you daddi
Is this also OTA? I see nothing

yes, that's how it works. tho.. idk if it's user-error or what... sometimes people flash supersu and it doesn't patch the boot.img and when they boot into android they lose twrp. hasn't happened to me but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . so that's why I also suggested removing the recovery-from-boot.p as an option.
people could also just dd the images manually if they don't want to wait for a zip... but I guess those comfortable with dd already know that.

What I usually do is make a twrp back up from my old phone and restore it on the new phone after making a fake backup and moving the old one in the new folder the fake backup created. Theoretically this should restore my google account without ever having to initially setup my account when I turn on the new phone. Right? Or do you think it'll cause authentication issues?

System.img.zip, do I just rename it to system.img? Cause I extracted from zip file and system.img did not flash. But when I renamed it, it flashed but wouldn't boot.

If you really want this, just use the LG Bridge and update it through that. It's much easier than flashing manually and accomplishes the same thing.

You don't need the file at all. Just download the LG Bridge from the LG website, install the LG Universal mobile drivers, plug in your phone and use the software update option. It does it all by itself, and will restart your phone on it's own.

You only need to plug in your phone and let it work. Since this is a stock image, you will lose root. Also, the as described in the original post on page 1, the December security patch also patches the dirty cow exploit used to achieve root, so once you flash this, you'll be stock unrooted until a new method comes along.
The latest update, it seems, can be rooted using the recowvery method. Dirtycow was patched by Google in a Dec. 5 security patch, but it seems LG didn't include that in their latest security update, which was created Dec 1! In any case, my phone is rooted with TWRP, and working just fine. So, for now we can still root with the update! I'd also like to point out, that this means we now have an official KDZ released version of rootable stock to roll-back to with LGUP!
Glad I forced ya to do it huh

I was on 10i last week after i got phone back from service. I flashed NotSoStock Rom which said i was on the 10d base. Then flashed Overdrive Rom which put me back to 10i. I didnt have any problems switching basebands within custom roms if that helps.

Note: make sure you rename your TWRP to twrp.img, and put SuperSU file into memory card (your TWRP cannot open internal storage).

Yes you can via same command but just use relock instead of lock OEM but it will erase data. Dload will not relock but it will lock so not a problem and not data erase also.

what happened ? how u messed it ?
To extract it, with the help of a root explorer, (like MiXplorer, Total Command, ecc.) go to root/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name, and in this folder you'll find "oeminfo" file. Copy it elsewhere, it'll be around 66MB; zip it, and it'll become only 160KB

Ok thanks for letting me know... I thought Multitool needed root to extract OEMINFO from device... This was a huge problem for me coz my friend is far away from me and he's too noob that he can't even get Product ID by dialing the code...(for BL unlock code)
I would already have done it yesterday if I knew that Multitool didn't need root...

I still thinks its needed but still you can copy via multi tool. However, you wilp get prompt on multi tool that su not found. But yeah it generates a copyof oeminfo. Have tested this but as have done lot of trails so can not say 100% if it will work. Can go with this without a problem
