Hello
I tried to migrate an Micro SD Card as Internal Storage on the Phone. After checking the Micro SD Card the Phone says it is to slow, please use a U3 Class Card.
So i bought a Samsung Pro 64Gb Card which is Class U3. The Phone checks and still tells me the Card is to slow, please use a U3 Card. Does anyone know the Problem
and maybe has a Solution for me?
Kind Regards

Hy,
No,i didn't know that this is necessary. What file system is needed? NTFS,Fat32 or is there a Special System for Android
Do i need a special Software to format the Card or can it be done with Windows?

It can be done with Windows. I don't know if this will work or not, but just play around a bit. Maybe Samsung formats it for their phones only ?

Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I can possibly do??
The card came as EXFAT, but most roms only support FAT32.
I formatted the card to FAT32 which was fine .. but after copying a few files the card now refuses to write or delete files. I can still open and view media that's on it but that's about it. I can't even re-format it, it will say the disk can not be formated or write error. The card isn't corrupt though, I copied around 30gbs of video on it when it was in EXFAT partition before. J
I'm using an SD adaptor into my card reader, but yes I have ensured the lock switch is off.
edit - oh also, when you place the card into the phone it'll say that the card is damaged/blank.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers,

Make sure you format it in the phone
Every time I place the card in, it will say the card is damaged or blank
Then it tries to format it but then goes through the same loop of saying it's damaged/blank

pretty much - there's nothing you can do. I decided to email Sandisk and here's their response:
I understand that the error that appear after format is “write protected”. First we would like to apologize for the inconvenience.
I understand that you are getting write protection error while accessing the flash drive. The flash drive has detected a potential fault and become “write protected” to prevent data loss. There is no method to fix this. You will need to back-up your data and replace the flash drive.
So you have to RMA it. I'm abit confused because others on XDA have successfully covnerted their 64gb cards to FAT32 without any issues.
Could it be a faulty batch of sd cards?.
I just recently bought a new 4gb card from eBay, I backed up my old card to the PC and put the new card in, mounted it with ums to the pc, and trasfered files, as soon as I disconnected it all the files got removed, sometimes some of them partially saved. I didn't have that problem with my old 2gb card so I'm not sure if the trouble is related with my phone or rom or the SD card. There are no errors in the transfer and all the time it's still open for transfer the files are still there.
Help please? :\
Bump, can anyone help?

Try these:
1. Unmount SD card in your device, and mount it again.
2. Connect it to a PC using a card reader, and run CHKDSK.
3. Format the SD Card in a digital camera or a Nokia phone.

Hey all, quick question regarding m8's handling of sd cards.
I have a 32gb external ssd in my vzw one m8 running LolliGPE, and I'm just wondering what the best way is to format it. I believe that if I were to format it on the phone itself it will use FAT which causes issues with my TWRP backups due to the size.
So with that being said, I think NTFS or exfat is the way to go...
do you connect the SD directly to your computer and format it there before inserting into the phone or what? i want a versatile format that i won't run into file size limitations with...
thanks for your help!

I just picked up a SanDisk Ultra 128GB UHI-I/Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card, formatted it directly from my phone with no issues.
edit: it formatted exfat
was it formatted to anything prior?

For 2 GB Fat 32 is fine. It may b that it just wasn't large enough for exfat.
I'd put it in the phone, format it, and forget about it. You'll b fine.
If u insist on changing it you can use Aparted from the play store.

my primary SD is 32gb, i just used the spare one to try it out. Interesting, you're probably right though it probably just defaulted to fat32 because the drive is so small.

This is my third phone since 2009 along with my wife's and we've never once had data corruption. I do always back up to my PC.
Sorry for your bad experience.
My current card in this M8 is 128 gig since July.with no trouble and the others are 2x64 and 2x32 also with no trouble.
hi yesterday I unexpectedly remove sd card (samsung) without unmounting from htc u11 now I can not write to it. can not format the sd card from phone as well from pc. recently I updated my htc u11 to oreo also. I dont know is it because of unexpectedly remove of sd card or oreo update because I dont remember that after oreo update I use(means download something) my sd card. If anyone have the solution thanx in advance.
How old was sd card? Could be just bad luck, and card died, happen to me. And what pc - win version you tried formated? It should let you do it whitout any problems.
If the external sd card was being written to at the time it was disconnected then it will be broken. If it wasn't then try to recover it using a pc.
The oreo update won't have changed anything with the external sd card so you can rule that out.
Sometimes, when you pull out the memory card unexpectedly (also the pen drives or even memory sticks on pc) you can lock the card. It denies to write on it. This happens due to the chip controller of the memory card. The only solution is to repair it on PC with special software tools from manufacturer or from russian/chinese/vietnamese forums which can reset that lock 'flag'. That sw contains drivers to raw access the chip controller.

thanx for your reply I use it(minitool partition) and also easeus but no one work. They show that your disk is formated but when I check in explorer data is still there. Is there any other software or method to format.

Try to search something like that: 'mass production utility', usually under this name you can find utilities to access the chips. It is time consuming to find what chip/controller your card use and find an utility which can access that chip since samsung do not publish such a tool...
You can try ChipGenius or another sw to find details, you may digg in sites like 'http://www.flashdrive-repair.com' to find a way of repair.
