SHealth & Private Mode with rooted Nougat - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
It sounds like that neither SHealth nor private mode is working when the phone is rooted. In MM I just used XTouchwiz and made the device status official. What needs to be done to get both working in rooted Nougat? I´ve already seen some roms which figured out, but I want to know how it is done so can use a rooted stock rom.
Thanks in advance

Why not deinstall SHealth as a system-app and reinstall it using the Samsung app-shop. It worked for me on MM.

Is it really that simple on Nougat? Some users report that a tripped knox is preventing SHealth from starting. I´d be suprised if this method tricks the system.

I am rooted, so Knox definetly is ticked and SHealth was deinstalled and then reinstalled using the Samsung app-shop (as written above). And SHealth is happily counting steps and stuff. So, for me it is working on a rooted S7!

Probably it worked on MM and doesn't work on Nougat anymore.

I am using Nougat 7.0 beta 3 and the phone is rooted and SHealth is working fine and counting steps all day long. No issues at all with running it.

Hmm OK. But did you also update SHealth from the Samsung app store? Did you debloat your device and delete knox? Can you check if private mode still works?
Thanks for your replies guys.

I confirm, since I updated to official Nougat BTU yesterday, S-Health doesn't work anymore. Knox tripped but 100% official installation without root anymore (on top, factory reset done before moving to Nougat).
When I open the app, it says the device security has been compromised and that Knox cannot work. Samsung just decided to limit the usage or our phone if Knox is tripped, even if the phone isn't rooted!!

Hi!
My phone has tripped KNOX, S Health didn't working on fresh Nougat install.
After I rooted my S7 with Nougat, I deleted the current S Health files in system/app and I download an older (4.8 maybe) version of program from apkmirror and install it as "normal" application, then this updated with newest one from play store and it working good.
Sorry for my English

Hi,
i was not able to successfully root the nougat S7, any help from you ? Which method have you used? I tried last Autoroot (~20min Bootloop) and TWRP+SU zip, the same.

Hi! You would try this:

It's working to me...

Thanks,
my phone is encrypted (i want it encrypted) and has the SD card configured as internal storage. They explaining here to wipe, this is not an option as this costs too much time to get it back to current state. All steps excepted the wiping i tried. resulted in >20min loop.

In this method the wipe is necessary. I can't find other working root solution at this time
While the device is not rooted actually, (KNOX Warranty Void 0x1 already) S Health can't working, that is must have to me.
Or Or

Warranty is not complete void by EU Law. Samsung can only void what they offer beside the minimum regulations.
I have right now also a phone i can not really use for Internet (ads) and it is carrying some social-media-bloatware. Need to wait for updates of CF Autoroot or what else.

Also S Health working fine in LineageOS 14.1 for me. Install Health Service APK (Google) ans S Health from Playstore

Just download version 4.8 and it works like a charm with nougat if you're rooted, have to uninstall the original s health with maybe titanium backup and then download from here
https://f.apk4fun.com/f.php?p=10204...ppRU1xZz09&d=ajk0Q0FnMXZHcmVSNVdvYUNRYjVodz09.
Have fun

Try set ro.config.tima to 0 in your build.prop. If that doesn't work then you'll need a patched AuthFramework.

Fix reboot/crash problem after ng6 root

Hi guys, I posted this elsewhere, but hopefully this helps everybody.
After rooting my Verizon SCH-I545 on NG6(I545VRUFNG6), I experienced tons of random crash/reboot issues, and finally found a solution last night!
This requires Xposed Framework to work of course.
Download the Xposed Module- "Samsung KitKat systemserver crash fix". It says it's for a different version but it has stopped every crash/reboot and I'm on the Verizon NG6 update.
The processes that are causing the crash/reboot are the 7 Knox processes. If you would like to remove these, backup your phone, then uninstall all Knox processes with an app like Titanium Backup or a similar app that can delete system apps.

Big thanks to @thomashofmann for the module.
This is my first thread, so let me know what you think!
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
Any idea how to read the log file, or where it's at. I got two notifications that it stopped the phone from rebooting/crashing. It said it had to do with a Knox process.
Here's the notification.
There is a log feature in Xposed, and you'd just have to look for the details that the notification gave.
Another suggestion for fixing the reboots is to freeze the processes that are causing the crashes, since most of them are Knox related processes.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
Freezing is not enough! You must deinstall all seven Knox pieces.

To uninstall them, I'd recommend using something like NoBloat to backup and uninstall them.

Same here. If the reboots are gone I'll let you know tomorrow.
I tried this fix and it seems to help. Three 'modules' appear to still be failing but the patch is at least keeping the fone from rebooting. Can provide additional details (log file) if it would help anyone?
It work for me.... Thw xposed module and delete knox apks from system priv app and then unistall knox apps with root unistaller....
Deleted the 7 knox apps and one com.sec.knox..... also. This has got rid of all reboots.
Used Titanium Backup to delete them.

This also seem to work for me. But what i did is freeze all of them wit the called app quarantine.
Edit: reboots continue to happen. Installed xposed and the samsung Kitkat crashserver fixer and problem fix. Thank u for all the links. Phone seems a lot more stable now.
S4 i545
-I updated the OTA NG6 and experienced the random reboots.
-Emailed the Verizon regional President, rcvd callback within hours, they verified I did the FRB so sent me another phone (Factory Refurb).
-Phone arrived with NC5, s I did the OTA again and got the same random reboots.
-Did the ODIN NC5 kernel. Towelroot, Odin NG6 krenel rooting process successfully.
-installed Titanium Backup, FROZE all files having KNOX.
-So far random reboots have stopped.
Thank you Verizon Executive office of the President Eastern states, but the problem seems very clearly associated with the KNOX software...
This was exactly what I did with the exception of getting a new phone. I froze all Knox apps, but continued to get reboots. Odin back to NC5, root, and has been fine for a week.

Freezing them doesn't work as you found out. If you delete them the reboots go away.
Wrong post sorry
Could someone please list the 7 Knox files to remove in NoBloat? I went through the whole process last week and after deleting every file with "Knox" in it my device was bricked. I had to flash a stock version of NC5 to get it running again, but now Verizon is forcing me to update.

Thanks! I uninstalled exactly as shown in Titanium Backup, powered down, powered back up, and no problems to be seen. I hope it stays that way
My first attempt must have bricked my phone because I just deleted a bunch of files, rather than uninstalling the actual apps. But thanks to the interwebs, I don't have to buy a new phone. Suck on that Verizon/Samsung.
Will simply deleting the KNOX apps in TI backup work or will I need to use the xposed fix as well? I don't have the ability to run nandroid so I got nervous at the prompt xposed gave stating that the device may not boot after it is installed.

Hey. You just have to flash all files that came with rom zip file and everything wil work on your phone.
Download old shealth apk use it then update via play store and you're good to go.

Downgrading from Nougat to Marshmallow

Anyone can tell me is it possible to safely downgrade to marshmallow from Nougat using Odin via flashing stock S6 firmware? or anyone has succesfully done this?
Yes, it is possible and can be done safely.
Is safe because bootloader binary code is still 5 on nougat
But why would you want to downgrade?

Because S-Health is not working in Nougat as I have tripped knox so I have to first install S Health in marshmallow and then I have to upgrade via OTA to keep S Health working!

I flashed Nougat (925F) 2 days ago with Flashfire, as 925I didn't received Nougat yet, first boot worked, then bootlooped. Bootloader still showed up as Nougat, I know it as I had to do a factory reset after flashing. All I did was download 5.1.1 ZTO and flashed with "Odin 3.10.(forgot exact version)" and all went fine
I think to downgrade to MM too, nougat is very smooth and fast, no bug (XEF), but the battery drains faster than MM

Samsung blocks S8 App-Updates!

Hello guys,
A few days ago I got an update for my BTU-Firmware.
Befor I downloaded this update I installed the S8 Launcher and the S8 Weather App, but removed the S8 Launcher again. After this Samsung update (came OTA) I am/was unable to use any S8-App.apk. Already installed S8 Apps will stay but now it is not possible to use any S8.apk
My Baseband: G935FXXU1DQC2
My Buildnumber: NRD90M. G935FXXU1DQC4
I think nearly every Firmware for an update - Do not download it! If you have a "fix" please tell me

So what is your Baseband / Buildnumber?
I am thinking to flash my phone back before the update to install the S8-Apps but if the Firmware is not the reason I will try something else.
Same problem there. I have made a factory reset and I can again install all apps but after some hours i am blocked again. So I can't install no more the s8 apps in my s7 edge.
If someone can help me it will be great
Thanks all

Tried disabling Samsung Pass and Secure Folder, uninstalled these apps to facteoy defaults, cleared their data and cleared all caches, rebooted - still cant install anything from S8 on my S7 G930F with July security patch. I was able to install anything for about 2 days when the patch arrived. It must be some kind of app blocking that. We just need to find out which is it.

Went back to stock firmware but still says i'm rooted

Hello, i have a problem here, i have an S7 flat and I rooted it and flashed a Custom pie ROM a while ago, I used the hidden option with magisk which makes it pretend you don't have root while you still have and you can hide some apps from the root verification, but I just flashed the stock firmware thru ODIN and wiped it all with factory reset, but after I booted it and started to use, the samsung apps like Samsung Health doesn't work saying that I still have a rooted device, tried Pokemon GO and said the same thing, so those apps doesn't work. I tried the root checker and says i dont have root, I don't know how to unroot it since I already did a factory reset.
Chances are that the stock firmware reads the Samsung Knox hardware flag that your device has had a custom recovery/kernel. And informs those apps.
Samsung apps check Knox which is tripped when you first flash custom firmware, and you can't revert. Pokemon GO probably doesn't check Knox but is likely finding something else, do you still have OEM unlock on? USB debugging? Anything root related on your SD card or internal storage? Pokemon GO has been fighting very hard for a long time to beat cheaters, so are basically using every trick in the book to try find it.

Didn't know that, I used a custom kernel while I was using custom ROM too, my USB debugging was on so was the OEM, but I tried to turn it off and reboot but the apps still don't work. I wiped the SD Card as well on recovery mode when I was going back to stock to clean it, Pokemon Go isn't the big issue for me because I don't really play it, but I think Samsung Health is really useful and I'm missing it

Not from a stock ROM. Samsung Knox checks a hardware fuse that is now permanently blown.
But go back to los16, RR or another custom ROM. You can then install magisk and then hide root from Samsung health. If that alone doesn't work, install 'magiskhide props config' mod from magisk and set up your device fingerprint to look like a nexus, then Samsung health will work -at least it did for me. I expect it will sort pokemon go too, though I've never tried that.
(If you do change your props config, I suggest you install any ainur audio mod first (I recommend sauron mod), or it might install the wrong libraries based on the fake nexus fingerprint.)

Thanks everyone, solved it, I rooted my device again and with the build.pro I changed ro.config.tima=1 from 1 to 0 and restarted the phone and it works again, with hidesu I could hide the root from the new game Pokemon Masters too and I can play it know, before I did it the game didn't initiated.
