Go to Settings - Apps and tap the 3-dot menu button in the upper right and select Show System, then scroll down to find Motorola Update Services and open it. Tap Storage, then Clear Data and Clear Cache then reboot and try again. Otherwise, try the standard Cache Partition wipe.
Make sure you are on WiFi when you try, some carriers have been known to block this (it's rare though).

[Q] how to stop "ongoing" marketplace download??

Today when i was trying to update skype and download some other applications in the market, this below thing happened to me.
On my drag down task bar there are 17 "ongoing" downloads from android market. even though i cancelled everything, tried also to stop/remove market from app manager, stop google talk (i don't have this installed but i see it in running services?!), rebooting the phone, software repair (failed),... that thing is still there and never goes away.
i'm running out of ideas. anyone can help?
sony ericsson x10i 2.1 update-1
Try deleting the market cache/data. Go to settings > applications > manage applications, then the "all" tab. Find the market & force stop it. Then clear the data & the cache. If the notification is still there, reboot & it should go away.
if in MIUI rom there is a Downloads application to manage download.
duno where to get the apps

So the problem is that your status bar is stuck showing downloads, not necessarily the app itself.
Since you said you uninstalled & reinstalled the market, I'm assuming you're rooted. If this is the case, there's an app on the forums that kills your status bar then restarts it, but I'm not sure if it would work in your situation. It was made with the CM7 theme chooser in mind, so it may only work on 2.3. I'm not sure though, as I've never used it. You could also try booting into recovery & wiping your cache & dalvik cache. If you have a root level file explorer, try going to /cache and deleting any downloadfile.apk files you may see. They may be in /cache/download if that path exists.
If none of that works, you could try reflashing your rom over itself. Just wipe cache/dalvik, not data, and everything should remain as it was unless you've made changes to any system files. And if that doesn't work, I'm all out of ideas.
I am assuming that you've rebooted, but if for some reason you haven't, try that first.
em... now i can't download anything from the market anymore. everytime i choose to download something, it just adds up in the task bar and the downloading never ends. now i have accumulated 18 ongoing downloads even though they are not really downloading anything.
i have a rooted x10 but i cannot find any folder named /cache when browsing using astro file manager.
i don't know how to get into recovery mode to wipe off the cache as you said.
and yes, rebooting was the very first thing i did but it doesn't work...

I'm not sure how to get into recovery on your phone, but I'm sure a quick Google search would yield the answer. You can also try using a cache cleaner app, but it may not solve the problem. If you can get into recovery (again, I'm assuming you're rooted) then go to the "wipe" menu... it may say something else but the word wipe should be there. From there choose to wipe cache & dalvik cache. I think in ClockworkMod that wiping dalvik cache is under "advanced", but I'm not sure if that's your recovery version or if it's even available for your phone.
The only other option would be a factory reset.
Oh, and the /cache directory is on internal memory, not the SD card. Astro is not a root level explorer, so you would need Root Explorer or ES File Explorer.
hi,
i am experiencing the same issues and my phone is not rooted.
i've done the clear cache thing and still the issue persists. the phone also freezes up whereby it does not even register my touch and the screen just blanks out.
any other advice on this please for non-rooted phones??
Hi,
I've just seen this problem on a X10 mini upgraded to android 2.1 update 1.
The solution was to "clear data" and "force stop" for "Download Manager".
IE: go to settings/applications/manage applications, press menu key, select filter and set All, scroll until you find the "Download Manager" entry, select it and then click "clear data" and "force stop"
You can now go to the market and start again any install/upgrade that might have been stuck in the queue before.
Hope it works for you too!
Stupid xperia 10
Okay WTF!, this is the only thread online I found that deals with this problem. Is Sony really that incompetent?.
I've had this problem for a week, I am now upto 35 ongoing downloads. I only had 8 ongoing 3 days ago. I cannot download or install or download and install anything!. This is complete B.S.
I have done everything in this thread and nothing works. Sony still has not e-mailed me back. I am FURIOUS!, WTF is happening!. Why can't I remove these ongoing downloads/updates.
I've done the whole "application manager" B.S. but it won't let me force close my market. I've disabled wi-fi. I am losing my effing mind!.
HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY DEALT WITH AND CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM?. I will give you $5. This is getting retarded.
Oh and FYI "Download manager" does not appear in my list of apps what so ever, and there is no such thing as a "all" tab in my "manage applications" directory.
... Oh great!, I've uninstalled my market but my Icon still appears... Oh look at that the program works "ING! AWESOME!" considering IT DOESN'T EXIST ON MY PHONE ANYMORE! INCLUDING APPLICATION MANAGER! WTF!

THANK YOU! Add me to the list of grateful users as this also worked for me!
I was unable to stop the 'Download Manager' nor 'Downloads' apps, but I cleared cache & data for both, + all of the above for the Google Play Store; removed downloadfile.apk and 2-files from dalvik cache. Notifications stopped !
Then I rebooted. GP-Store (which was already current) indicated they were updating and required my acceptance. Then the store opened normally; I manually download ONE app.
I only download via Wi-fi so Wifi is my emergency panic button.
Thanks again!
thank me if. I helped u guys please im a newbie here
Hey dudes just do as I say during the force download goto settings>applications>manage applications then press menu > filter > all and search for download manager and tap it and force stop it , PROBLEM SOLVED KEEP SMILING , Any way I say xperia always rocks , mail me regarding any doubts

[Q] How to fix com.android.phone force close

Hi I have a LG c800, which there is no forum for....
So... I have a rooted mytouch q slide from t-mobile. I was playing around with it and deleted some crap using one of the root uninstallers. Everything was fine but then i downloaded a new keyboard app and after playing with it...it froze. On reboot it force closes "com.android.phone" which leaves me with these barebones apps and I receive phone call (I can make phone calls...), can anybody help me fix this???
I hear that I should reflash but then I'm not sure if I can reflash with this phone can someone help me please. I need some options or advice on how to reflash, because I don't think ROM manager supports my device.
I did a factory reset but the "com.android.phone" still force closes..maybe I deleted something I shouldn't have like T-mobile setup app...so can anyone please please please suggest me something )))
Thanks
RE: How to fix com.android.phone force close
I have having the exact same issue:
force closes "com.android.phone"
Samsung Galaxy SII
AT&T
Android Version 2.3.6
kernel Version 2.6.35.7
Once the com.android.phone app force closes, the Flight mode is turned on and I get a Mobile Network not available... I turn off Flight Mode and still wait for network, then network is dropped again.
Any assistance would be huge.
vas28r13, you had unfortunately remove some files needed to correct work of the dialer. Wipe the data or do the nandroid backup (if you did them).
fuscanese, unluckily, you must wipe the data, because system have a solid crash

Try wiping cache, dalvik from recovery or do a factory reset. If that doesn't work, try a custom ROM... You won't regret it!

[Q] Insufficient Storage, but 14.7GB free

I just installed ExynosAbuse APK v1.40 and i now have root so i could regain my copy/paste function back. (I delete everything in data>clipboard)
However now when i go to install any app i get the error, insufficient storage. As the title says I have ~15gb free (says the settings>storage). Even when uninstalling an app I cannot re install it as it says i have insufficient space. For example, i uninstalled angry birds SW (which was 60mb) and i cannot reinstall it, or any other apps.
Oh, and i uninstalled the Exynosabuse (but left root enabled) and now i cannot reinstall it to disable root. I also tried uninstalling the google play updates, and nothing changed. Installing apps with either google play or ES file manager gives the same result (insufficient storage space)
Thanks for the help.
UPDATE:
I found the problem, and solution in post 20
I had the same problem with an app i tried installing once, but it only happened with that particular app. Maybe try wiping cache and dalvik cache.

If you are getting it for a particular app then try searching for the it using its name it must have left some file over during your previous installion delete all files with the app name and try installing it should install
Try uninstalling the update of play store by going into settings applications
The first one should do the trick

All of the apps in the play store that i tired (ones that haven't been installed before) gave the same error, not just ones previously installed. I also deleted some bloatware updates and tried to reinstall their updates afterwards. The problem persists.
I did uninstall the playstore updates and clearing the cache. Nothing changed.
I've restored to factory and its working again. Crappy solution though..
thanks for the help
I solved this problem with lucky patcher. Run it when you have this problem and it will remove the unused odex file. Then install normally and you shouldn't have the error. I found this happens to me when uninstalling modified apks and trying to install the official app after.

You could check your data/apps folder and check if there's an apk for the file there. If it is delete and try to reinstall

Well it's happening again.
How do I get into recovery mode to delete dalvik cache? Is that where you hold down power and the volume button, cause I don't see anywhere to delete the cache when im in there. It's just a screen thqts says downloading.
I cleard the dalvik cache In link2sd but it says it's empty. Also cleared app cache with link2sd.
I did notice that the system file space is at 17% (243mb left) which is still large enough to install the apps I'm trying. I have 25gb free out of 32gb.
This problem is not limited to one app. It also happens with apps that never been installed on this tablet.
Thanks for the help.
Did you try what I mentioned

Power+Volume Up until you see the GTN8000 or whatever model you have screen then leave power button while keep pressing the volume up button until you get into recovery
Dude i suggested going into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache a while ago but got no response. You didnt ask how if you didnt know and you obviously didn't search for it. Not trying to be rude here but it just is a little irritating when you try to help and you get ignored. Volume up and power till you see the boot screen then let go. And youll see wipe cache, do it. Then scroll to advanced and then to wipe dalvik cache, do it. Then go back to the firdt sceen and select reboot.
Also gmfeny had a suggestion did you try that?

The first time you mentioned it i had already did a factory reset and my GN was working for the moment. When the problem came back i said i tried it in link 2 sd and i did boot to what it thought was recovery mode (i did google it but i must have miss read. I was holding power and volume down to get into recovery screen) and didnt see anywhere to delete dalvik cache. I should have stated clearly that i needed help on getting to the right place.
I will try that next.
gmfeny, I have looked in data>apps and nothing about the apps im trying to install is there. Also this problem isnt limited to apps that i've previously installed. So I wouldnt expect anything to be in there on those apps. However there is a folder im not sure about. its not very big (256KB) and its names mcRegistry.
I'm not sure if its a big deal, and further since no one seemed to have commented on it. Is there a problem with my system file space as mentioned above? (17% left, 250MB)
thanks
I have the GTN80013 (32gb no GSM/cdma)
Im in recovery mode now and i selected wipe cache partition. I dont see anywhere that says advanced. The only options i have are; reboot, apply update from external storage, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, apply update from cache.
still cannot install some apks. I tried to install appinstaller (which i've never installed/tried to install from the play store) and it failed. Also my game emulators failed to install with ES file explorer.
I was able to clear the dalvik cache by gong to data/dalvik-cache And deleting everything. after restarting it waa rebuilt. still can't install apps.
Maybe it's not the same as doing it in recovery, but that's not an option in my recovery mode from what I can see.
Thank for the help
I finally solved my problem.
I had installed Link2SD and a setting in that app was causing the problem.
The Fix:
Open up the menu (context menu) > settings
Click on install location and change it from External to Automatic.
I can install app now.
The only strange part is when i first had this problem, i didnt have this app installed. As suggested above, it was probably the Dalvik cache.
For anyone who has problems finding the 'clear dalvik cache' in recovery mode; You can use lucky patcher to delete it. Its in the menu>trouble shooting> delete dalvik cache and reboot.
Or you can do it manually by going to data>dalvik-cache and deleting everything in there.
Thanks for the help!

[Q] How can I remove OTA update notification?

Hi guys!
Is there a way to remove the annoying notification of the 4.4.3 update?
I have no problems with the update itself, but I'm using a Custom ROM (CM11).
I've tried disabling notifications for Google Services Framework and com.lge.update and freezing com.lge.update with Titanium.
None of these worked...
Do you guys now a way to disable it?
Thanks in advance

I'm in the same boat... running CM11 M6. I got an error notification for the 4.4.3 update last night stating that it couldn't download (I'm assuming because of running CM). Today at lunch I was having problems with LTE connectivity so I rebooted and it worked then. Found out a few hours later that after I rebooted my phone used over 500MB of data even though I wasn't using it and my battery drained down quite a bit as well.
My cell provider shows I've used that much data but my phone doesn't. My guess is that it's trying to constantly download the update? Yet I can't find any way to turn this off.
Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Whatever file explorer you are using you may have to allow it to see "hidden files" or grant root access or possibly both.
I'm having the same issue as well, except I didn't download the update. I've tried renaming the cert to .bak, rebooted, and no go. Then I took the whole damn cert file and moved it to my downloads folder, cleared Google system framework data, and rebooted. It's been about 5 minutes with no pop up, but I'm not holding my breath.
I've also heard that changing a line in your build.prop tricks the updater into thinking you already have 4.4.3, but I don't what what it is that needs to be changed...

I don't even see these folders.
I have hidden files enabled in Solid Explorer :/
I've tried everything posted here, rebooted around 5 times, but it's still showing up.
Are you guys sure that otacerts.zip is responsible for the upfate message?
I even tried moving it into my download folder (after the .bak method doesn't worked), but I still have the notification...
Which is the system app, that searches for updates? I thought it's com.lge.update, but it seems that it's not.
We should try to freeze / uninstall that with Titanium. :/
You can also use ongoing system notification blocker to get rid of the update constantly being shown.
Thanks guys I got it. After renaming the above mentioned folder I cleared Google framework and the notification is gone.

I'm not sure why anyone has stated this and I realize that the problem has already been solved, but this can easily be fixed using Developer Options in CM11
1) Go to settings> about phone
2) Scroll all the way down to build number and repeatedly tap it until it says something along the lines of "You are now a developer"
3) Go back to settings then go to developer options
4) A little less than halfway down is an option called 'Development shortcut'. Tick that box
Now, you can get rid of any pesky notification that can't be swiped away. Simply tap and hold it, then select 'Force close'. This works with any apps running in the background by doing the same thing from the app switcher. Hope this helps!
I just cleared data on Google services framework and haven't had the notification popup yet. Have rebooted a couple times, so far so good. Been about 6hours.

In your build.prop find the ro.build.fingerprint line. Change it to this:
ro.build.fingerprint=google/hammerhead/hammerhead:4.4.3/KTU84M/1158763:user/release-keys

I cleared the framework cache and data and it gives me the error where play store cant load, so then i have to go delete my google accounts and reinput them. And then the notification comes back after 12 hrs or so.
I followed the steps on this other related thread and it worked for me.

Above rename method did not work for me on rooted Nexus 10. I followed tutorial which worked at:

[Q] Accidentally Pressed 'Yes, im in' on Moto G system update

I currently have a Moto G 8GB rooted on ver 4.4.2 stock rom
For the last 2 weeks I have been getting pop ups telling me to update my phone to 4.4.4 but because I am rooted I always pressed 'No, maybe later', but today I was unlocking my phone and i saw the pop up to update, i wasn't thinking and I accidentally pressed 'Yes, im in'. About 10 seconds after pressing Yes, im in' I saw a system update download notification, so i instantly turned my phone off. When ever I turn my phone on the system update downloading notification comes up.
What can I do to stop the update?
Thanks in advance for the help!
As far as I know you can't stop the download, but when I did an update on stock after the download finishes you are asked if you want to install it, click no and then delete the update from your phone,

You can turn off you cellular data and that will also stop the download. But once it is back on then the download will continue unless there is a way to delete the actual file. But if you are on WiFi then just turn that off. Either way, you can stop the download but what you do after that is unknown.

Thanks for that. I have got the update downloaded but I don't know where it is stored. Can you tell me where I can find the file?

I'm not to sure about that, but you may be able to find it with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelokment.storageanalyser it will show the contents of your SD partition in order of how much data is contained in the folders from highest to lowest, I think the update is between 400 and 450MB

I think the update file.zip on SD card only about 167MB if you from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4.When u on 4.4.3 to 4.4.4,the update file about more than 10MB as i know.

@SkitzXDA ..... Look in the file folder named .... /cache
go to Settings>Apps>All
Select Motorola OTA
Disable it.
You are done .

No idea if this works, but the file is under /cache. Not on your internal memory, but in the actual /root directory of your phone. You'll need a Root explorer to find and delete the file. Good luck!
Thnaks Guys for all the help. I fixed the problem by downloading the update and then deleting it from the /cache folder
May I ask if I am already rooted and unlocked in 4.4.2, can i just OTA update to 4.4.4?
Will root still intact (using root keeper or whatever)?

You've to remove root and make sure. you didn't modify anything in the /system partition. If you did debloat your phone or modified /system, then you need to flash the stock one first, then you can update and root your device again.

I'm having the same problem except I can't find it in my cache folder.
In my cache folder there are: backup, lost+found, recovery folders, none of which seems to have a 160MB~ file.

You can wipe cache partition in recovery.
