Just received this update, but it doesn't look like it is updating just yet, waiting until 11PST, but i am thinking this is 7.1.1. Has anyone else received this or is this old news?

It's new. Got this about an hour ago. Same....won't allow me to start it yet.
Good to see us finally getting an update. Took a while. Not sure if it's 7.1.1 or what. Glad to see the security patch getting current.
*Edit: I just turned off network time and time zone. Set it to Eastern time...And the update is now downloading No need to wait.
This is new, did not receive this update notification from OTA, but LG Bridge detects the update with the id as "H91810j". I did update to 10i on friday after getting the v20 recently, weird how I don't get OTA's though.

Not yet. This seems to be new, as this update was not available on Friday, when I updated to 10i. Wait for Rom developers to update their Rom base to "10j" or wait for someone to make a flashable zip.

I would rather get a zip since I'm on stock. I tried flash fire, but it will not update.
It's still 7.0 and it includes the December security patch.
Other than that...Haven't noticed anything thing yet. Performance or otherwise. Who knows what that audio quality patch is. We'll maybe find out when Tmo updates the info on their site.
Where is the OTA located?
Will it be rootable?
Until I know the update is rootable I'm still staying on 10I.

Got a small update this morning. Had to manually change the time to 11pm for the download to initiate.
H91810j, still on Android 7.0
One thing I can say for sure about this update, is that the audio quality has been greatly improved.
Sent from my LG-H918
For those have already installed, may you post the pic of the information of the ROM version.
I'd like to see the date of the patch. If it's still December 1, it should be able to regain root using dirty cow method.
If not, we have to wait until somebody developed a flashable zip for TWRP.
it is indeed rootable as i just did it with dirty cow.
however do not do the ota update unless you are on stock 10i, which is easy to do. then take the update. and when it's done. use this to root it. instructions included and all needed files.
recowvery exploit files - again this contains everything you will need to gain root on a t-mobile h918 v20 on 10j firmware

you'll need to restore stock recovery and boot or it'll fail and bootloop to recovery. i had to fix mine by redoing 10i
it's not hard.
just use uppercut with the stock 10i kdz
ugh, so basically for root/TWRP 10i users, we have to backup data, flash 10i KDZ, update to 10j, restore backup?

I just gathered the nerve to root this past sunday, i'm still recovering from the nervous breakdown I almost had while rooting. :crying:
I'll stick with OvrDrives 10i custom rom and until he can update his rom.
But my question is...how in the hell do I get rid of the notification to update? I've already deleted the update file from "Root/Cache" folder but the notification persists even after a reboot. I do NOT want to hide the notification because it is tied to "Google Play Services" which means it'll block all things that have to do with that service.

Just updated the thread here with the link. I didn't want to start a whole new thread or have it get lost in another thread.
I just bought my phone from Swappa. It's currently rooted,TWRP and running D80120a.
I received OTA update notification last night.
Will I loose root if I allow it to install?
If so, how can I ignore it and disable the notification?

If you're rooted with TWRP, the OTA won't install, at least it didn't for me. I clicked on the OTA and it rebooted into TWRP, but nothing installed. Rebooted the system, the OTA was gone, and I was still on 20a. You will lose root if you install the 20e, but you can re-root with TowelRoot and I believe you can get TWRP back with AutoRec (I used TowelRoot, but not AutoRec). From my understanding, if you use AutoRec, you will lose Knock Code.
So I tried to update and it went through the process. Even seen the little green android saying installing update . phone rebooted still had root access and about phone is showing the "a" version. Checked for update again and it said phone up to date. This doesn't seem right

I'm guessing you don't have a custom recovery? I had TWRP and the green android was on for a split second before TWRP started and it didn't update. I think if you're rooted, you have to update via the support tool or the pc suite. To get root back, use towelroot. Backup your data, but you should be able to keep everything on your phone if you don't wipe/reset.
Cool thanks!

In my experience, updating via LG Support Tool wipes everything. I am backing up all my data right now. Hopefully towelroot still works on this version.
EDIT: So I just finished the update via LG Support Tool. My data was left intact, but stuff was broke anyways - probably from using system cleaner app and then not having root after the update. So I am doing a factory reset anyway and will start all over. I expected it to be wiped anyway.

I ended up using the LG Mobile Support Tool to install the update. I wasn't able to install the OTA; it booted into TWRP, then when I rebooted the system, it said I was up to date, even though I was still on 10a. I lost root, but was able to re-root with towelroot. Everything was still there when I booted, although I don't have TWRP recovery. Not sure if I want to do that since I read somewhere that I will lose Knock Code. Make sure you back up your data just in case things don't go smoothly.

If I use KDZ to flash the update, will I loose TWRP? Or do you think a flashable zip file will be made in the future?
I just updated my NON ROOTED d801 g2 and now my touch screen does not work at all. No errors during installation.
I ran into this problem before when I tried to update the touchscreen firmware through the menus via
3845#801#
My screen would go unresponsive, but after 10 mins and a couple of reboots, it would work back (my guess is that it reverted to the old touch firmware).
This time though, the touchscreen seems to be permanently disabled. Anyone else running into this issue?

With the update coming sometime in the near future, what does that mean for us with rooted phones? More specifically, us losers who are on the Puerto Rican rom.
I imagine if we update we lose root, but is there any way we can get back on the American AT&T H810 after the update comes out?
I just got the phone from Craig's list. When I got home and I did more research I realized I got screwed. They sold me the PR version of the phone. At least I got it for 280 unlocked and no scratches almost new.

Yikes sorry! Do you have the green spot issue in the camera? It's a decent rom save for that issue. Allows you to get rid of everything (bloatware). I've been dying to add xposed, but without being able to back anything up makes it a little iffy. AT&T seems to be the worst when it comes to allowing their devices to be unlocked.

If LG releases a KDZ for ATT you can. However, even those of us who are on att firmware can't take OTA updates after rooting (even if flashing an unrooted system img). LGs root checker tool flags the system on the /persist partition
This means that you will have to UN-Root your phone. Download & install the update. Put your phone into download mode. DD if=OS of=Backup.img
Then root that backup (Or get it from someone who posted it on an XDA Root site)
Once it is rooted, then DD if=RootedOS of=OS (Disk dump it back to the phone)
Now you have a rooted Marshmellow OS on your phone.

this is false. i was rooted on 10g, i unrooted and flashed stock system.img and took the update to 10o just fine.
you need to do a few things to prepare first
1) unfreeze any apps you may have frozen with debloater/titanium/greenify/etc
2) disable and uninstall any xposed modules
3) uninstall xposed (if you have it)
4) uninstall flashfire (if you have it)
5) uninstall any root apps (aside from supersu)
6) open supersu, uncheck "enable superuser" and then select full unroot, than reboot
7) download and flash the stock system.img for whatever firmware you are currently rooted on
8) now your unrooted and you may update via ota
this thread will help for flashing, just make sure you use the stock version of your current firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586

I re-rooted just to make sure everything was unfrozen etc, uninstalled everything, then flashed unrooted image back, still giving the error.
Guess i'll have to wait for another method.

i went from 10g to 10o so that could explain why i didnt have a problem
This guide is to help out the people who are rooted to know exactly what to do if you get an OTA notification so that there are no errors.
This guide will only work for the Systemless rooting. Guide here
The basic things for achieving OTA after rooting can be found here
Basic things to keep in mind if:
1. Still on soak - Follow this guide and come back to marshmallow and then you should be able to take the OTA.
2. If you are on Stock and rooted - Make a nandroid backup and then the next step is pretty simple, go to SuperSU app and click on the option Full Unroot and click on yes and then again yes and wait for the Phone to reboot. Once it starts back wait for the optimization of the Apps and then download the OTA and then install it. Make sure it is the Stock recovery through which you flash the OTA.
It should go through Smoothly. I have done it twice. Since Nougat doesn't support any known root method yet, so keeping a titanium backup before unrooting is preferred so that as soon as it supports root u can restore all of it back.
Happy updating!
I personally won't install N until we have a rooting method. Because there is no "coming back" if root doesn't materialize.

I know that works perfectly right now, the only reason i made the tutorial on how to downgrade is because we had the same scenario for Moto g 1st gen. People got used to downgrading using the normal method, what they didnt realize was that the bootloader and gpt were not being flashed and they showed failed when you did that for the official firmware. But after a month tons of Moto g 1st gens got hard bricked because of that. Anyone who tried to downgrade from modified stock or custom rom based on Lollipop (At that time) Got their phone hard bricked. It's the same for Nougat also and is same for All cross android versions after Kitkat.
With every new update they release a new partition table and a new bootloader . The new bootloader doesnt allow you to flash the previous bootloaders over it and same for partition but for some varients of the phone the warning is not there and the older bootloader is flashed resulting in a hard brick. This is also true for Custom roms based on the official firmware (which will come) and devices in which a custom kernel has been flashed.
I am not saying trust me, i am just saying be careful .

I agree with you on this. I am stuck with an N Bootloader and and MM firmware.
I can upgrade to an N ROM but I get FP issues (cosmetic, but still not desirable)
I cannot take an official OTA anymore because even if I downgrade to stock, I still have an N Bootloader which prevents me from taking OTA.
Unless we get a stock N rom, I guess we are stuck with this setup.

As far as i know rooted phones will not get OTA. You have to manually flash update.zip and root again, because rooting needs bootloader unlock and will not recognise the device in update server. I guess you have to wait for manual update zip...?

I shared B151 update to Firmware Finder using "share firmware" option.

My update!! they are very good at providing region specific update I guess!!!
I give up.. terrible update or security support
Good thing Samsung are much better
I just rebranded my honor into a Samsung
Never rooted.. Never unlocked.. Stock recovery
Poor support
0 updates
You will get OTA on rooted phone but it wont install. Even just replacing the recovery wont help as your stock boot is modified while root. you need to flash the stock boot as well before you will be able to update via OTA.
Stock phone
Never rooted
Never changed recovery
Never unlocked bootloader
Ota is broke or non-existent
Support sucks.
Great phone if you never want updates
Bug fixes or new features.
These are as is throw away phones.
