I have done the check to see if my bootloader is unlocked, which is No.
I called Sony to see if they can unlock it and was told to call my provider which said no and called Sony to verify if they did it.
Well after over an hour, my service provider said the Sony Tech Support didn't support unlocking but that there are guides online if I REALLY want to do it anyways.
After looking I couldn't find any info on unlocking a locked bootloader.
All I'm wanting to do is install a custom ROM and would love if someone could help or point me in the right direction.
First we're going to check if your bootloader is ublockable.
Open dialer, punch in *#*#7378423#*#*. In the service menu which will open, navigate to Service Info -> Configuration. In there, look for the line "Rooting status". If it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No", nothing you can do and no point in digging further. If it says yes, take a look at this thread.
Happy unlocking!

Already did that and its a No, so guess I'll just have to just get a different phone.

For people like me who can't unlock their bootloader on the Sony Xperia S because the bootloader unlock option is set to no i.e. the official method below shows no:-
Open the dialer from your device and dial “*#*#7378423#*#*”.
Then, go to “Service info -> Configuration -> Rooting Status”. If the “Bootloader unlock allowed” option is there is perfect and you can complete the operation. If not, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Is there another way to unlock the bootloader at all?
I realise this will invalidate any warranty but would really like to flash cyanogenmod 9.1 onto it as its so much faster and usable than the stock rom.
Many thanks in advance
Also looking for a way around this... Although my nozomi is unlockable, it fails to unlock with every tool out there...

+1
I think
S2tool works but sure it's a paid service or try wotanclient
As for those who get a No in status, that's the only option!
For those whose status says Yes,you can unlock officially from Sony website

No news on this?
I just got the lt30at and I want to unlock bootloader and root but I can't find anything in my 2 days of searching. Thanks for any help.
Hi guys, I have this problem with my M2: A week ago I looked on the web for several methods of how to unlock the bootloader. The first step of all those methods was to check on the phone if it was possible to unlock it by introducing a code on the call dialer to get into some kind of "Secret menu". The result was always the same "Unlock bootloader: No". Instead of this I have tried with two or three different methods, however any of this worked. Do you know how to unlock the bootloader in this situation?
Please tell me if I wasn't clear enough.
You can't unlock it if it says No.

Ok, I hope that somebody find a solution soon. Thanks for answering.
Wait, does it say "Bootloader unlock allowed: No" or "Bootloader unlocked: No"?
If it says "Bootloader unlocked: No" you can unlock it, if it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No" you can unlock it only in Spain
Look what it says :/

Poor you. Next time be careful where do you buy smartphone
Well, hello to everyone. I bought Sony Xperia Z3 and bought code to unlock it for all sim cards and it works. When i visited Sony's site for unlocking bootloader i came across this post:
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Well, my device cannot be unlocked because it says No..
so what can i do to unlock it?

What? Do you know what you are taking about..
Anyway, if the service menu says you cannot do it then it is impossible to unlock it.

For your device it is not allowed, so you can't unlock the bootloader.
/I've read some threads about trying to unlock the bl although service says "no" on other Devices like z Ultra:
It's not impossible to unlock the bl with official method if you know your device earlier had status allowed "yes".

its necessity if you want an aosp rom .....
Stock basted Roms on most Sony devices are pretty fast and solid in my opinion no need to really unlock unless your desperate for cm
So that's it? If the bootloader can't be unlocked officially, I'm stuck on Sony roms forever?
Wouldn't bother me so much but my Z3 has a horrible bug where it doesn't work with the bluetooth in my car without rebooting first every time. Was hoping to install CM12.
Could be a hardware fault the Bluetooth

It's not that I have any major issues with Sony roms, I'd just like to be able to flash other stuff in the future, should I want to.
I'm still going to keep the Z3, such a nice phone, nothing else really comes close to it for me yet. Maybe the M9, but I just got the Z3 for £260 from o2 and had it network unlocked, probably have been looking at least double that for the HTC.
You can still root the device and customize it. Tools like the XPosed framework are great at modifying specific parts of the ROM.
But to confirm: you're stuck. You can't unlock Sony's unlockable bootloader. I've heard of people trying to unlock it, I've never heard of a successful case.
Enjoy the phone, it's among the best available right now (imho).
I want to install a custom ROM and recovery on my Z3 but I can't find a way to unlock the bootloader. Even with the FlashTool it doesn't seems to work. I tried downgrading to an earlier version but everytime my phone gets bricked unless I use the last version available.
Thanks
Go to dialer. Type *#*#7378423#*#*
In service menu navigate to service info, configuration, and you will see a line that says "bootloader unlock available: yes" or "no"
If it says no then you will not be able to unlock the bootloader as it is factory locked to this state.
If it says yes then follow the Sony guide to bootloader unlocking Z3. They will email you the unlock code and details of how to proceed.

That's correct.
Unfortunately not all devices can be unlocked and there's no way to change that status.

Hi, i readed a lot of post and i cant find answer to my question. Is it possible to unlock bootloader when "Bootloader unlock allowed " says NO ?
no unfortunately not. In spain sony provide a service to pick up your phone and send it to the SAT where they change the status from not to yes. So you can try in your country, just ask sony service care. cheers
