MHA-L29 - No way to do a factory Reset in Recovery? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hey here,
short story: Mum forget her fingerprint password and now we have to wait 1 hour after she tries it for two times...
I thought it should be easy to reset the password after installing the android device manager to the smartphone (since i do have access to the google account) and then create a new lockscreen pattern.
But nope - i've sent the command from the website, that the google device manager should be installed but nothing happens and i can't retrieve the status from the device manager
But the part which irritates me mostly is, i can't even do a freakin wipe trough the eRecovery and the eRecovery Update mechanism fails completely. Fastboot also doesn't help because the phone is locked.
And since ADB Debuging and uknown sources isn't available i can't do anything here...
Since i have no chance of getting my pictures back i wanted to ask if any1 here has a tipp how i can atleast reset the phone?
Best regards
Seelbreaker

[Q] Unknown Login Interface

Hi
I encountered a strange login screen after my xoom crashed after an successfull update without no reason. I searched the web and forums but couldn't find any reference.
Short story:
- Xoom bootlooped for no reason one day after recovery
- bootet into recovery, did da fullwipe
at the moment there is no os on the android as i wasn't able to flash one yet
if i now let the xoom boot, it first shows a boot animation with an android with a gear-ish badge around his belly and then it shows a login menu where i can enter a password (no username). I tried every password the xoom could possibly know, but no luck so far.
has anyone seen this screen before? What is the password?
What kind of a wipe did you do...for there to be no OS? Am I misunderstanding you?
i did a full wipe from the stock recovery menu? from my understanding it deletes everything on the device hence no os? or am i not getting this right? if not, the login screen is even more wired
Factory reset wipes your data.

Hi,
There seems to be no question here , so it is not clear what you are after.

Can I Access the Data Partition in Windows? (corruption problem)

Hi all,
Long-time lurker - used info here ages ago to mod a tablet, but right now I'm working on my fiancee's phone, which is an unrooted Galaxy S7.
Yesterday, her phone took a complete **** out of nowhere. It spontaneously rebooted, said it was applying an update, and then the Android dude fell over with an exclamation mark next to him. She had just finished recording some audio that she *really* wants to get back (a press conference she got into at Comic Con).
The message now on the phone is:
Phone storage corrupt
The data partition has been corrupted. You need to reset your phone to factory default settings. This will erase all your data.
I've tried to connect to Windows and I can't get at the device - I have no way to change whatever connection mode it's going into by default. I've also tried getting into the phone through ADB, but the device isn't recognized.
I could really use some advice here
Anyone?
Thanks,
-Jeff

Reboot into recovery/download mode and see if you can access adb. If not flash stock firmware in Odin (Not csc, as that will wipe data)
If flashing stock works, I would flash stock again after you get the data you want (including csc the second time)
Sent from my SM-G935U using XDA Labs
Eek. The data header gets marked as corrupt when this message appears. Chances are it will reappear after reflashing and because Samsung encryption is proprietary it will be hell to recover. If Craz's suggestion fails you may need to chalk this one up as a loss

Looking for community wisdom - mi note 3 stuck and need to recover data

Hi,
I have a mi note 3, with global ROM. Yesterday, it received an OTA upgrade to 10.4.2.0, and immediately after the install, when the phone booted, it started showing errors about Find My device crashing. I managed to enable developer mode (this phone was unrooted and stock recovery with locked bootloader) and using adb I could stop the find my device crash by removing the package (so it wouldn't reboot) and backup about half of its contents. It did reboot though, and then It just would not boot at all to the system and would just keep boot looping (i never got the home screen).
Having tried a few things with ADB, I decided to do something a bit more drastic and I used ADB sideload to install the same ROM again using the recovery mi assistant option. That worked but still the phone wouldn't boot, so I decided to erase user-data (which according to the xiaomiadb does remove all apps but not pictures and all other stuff). Then the phone did boot, but It got stuck again, this time on the android setup screen where it says something like 'wait a second while we setup your device...' and getting again the same error about Find My Device crashing.
Is there any hope on recovering the data in the phone? I had two ideas but I have no idea if they are stupid or if they have any chance of working:
1-. Unlock bootloader using the Xiaomi app, in fastboot, but instead of rebooting, after unlocking using fastboot to load twrp and then trying to save the data via twrp
2-. Wait for another global rom update, apply that via recovery and see if it does fix the issue with Find My Device
Is any of those ideas realistic? If not, is there any chance to save the data from the phone? even if it implies opening it and so?
Thanks!
The first option seems extremely risky, unlocking the bootloader will format all data - maybe before reboot. The second needs patience, most probably that was the last miui 10 stable. Don't you have a miui account? Most of your stuff is there, you could login from your browser and check it out.
Thanks dpikros. Yes, I have access to the mi account, but I never trusted mi cloud with my data, so I had all sync to mi cloud disabled unfortunately.
I tried installing the previous MIUI, but it's based on Android 8.1 and the sideload won't allow me to use it. I think same will happen with developer ROM.
Does anybody know if the data format happens before or after reboot when unlocking? I was thinking, unlock bootloader and then use fastboot to boot the twrp image (without even flashing it) but not sure if the Xiaomi unlock app will automatically reboot the phone or if it will somehow delete if from unlock directly.
Thanks

Recover data of frozen Samsung Galaxy A51 SM-A515F

Hello,
my friends Samsung Galaxy A51 crashed while using it, opening a google docs link she received via WhatsApp.
Restarting the phone will only show Samsung logo, then Samsung Galaxy A51 logo and then dead again. No boot loop.
In the morning the wake up alarm set in the phone plays its chimes but display remains black.
Rebooting phone with holding volume down doesn't work.
The phone is not rooted or flashed.
I can enter Recovery mode. Tried to restart system. Tried to delete cache. Tried to repair apps. None of this changed anything.
I can connect via adb but only in Sideload mode. Hoped to unsintall Samsung Browser as this might be a damaged app. But I don't have permission because USB debugging is not toggled. I tried adb restart and adb restart recovery. Phone will no restart to Android. Restarting to recovery works but doesn't solve the problem.
I can bring the phone to Download mode. Btw. none of the tutorials helped to do this. At some point I double-tapped the power button and was surprised to get into Download mode. I wanted to flash TWRP recovery to the phone to get more options to backup and recovery. Unfortunatley the OEM protection did not allow me to flash TWRP recovery.
My friend is from Ukraine and has her Ukrainian banking app registered with this phone and currently no other possibility to access her bank account. Also she has a lot of data like contacts, messages, photos and videos only on this phone. So we can not do a factory reset.
Do you have any other ideas for troubleshooting?
Do you have any ideas how to remove OEM protection without access to OS so I can at least flash TWRP and do a backup?
Do you have any other idea how I could backup the phone?
Unfortunately I still have not been successful to get the phone working again or to backup or read any data.
Just to add another information: I drained the battery to 0% so the phone was totally dead. I was not optimistic that this full power off might help any more than the restarts I did so far. But running out of ideas. It didn't help or change anything.
I'm afraid only a factory reset could at least repair the phone :-(

Without OEM-Unlocking and USB-Debugging you will not be able to install TWRP and if so then all data would be gone automatically anyway, as this is equivalent to a factory reset.
The only way would be to download the STOCK-ROM with "Frija" (quick and free) and flash it with "Odin". Of course, the mobile phone is then virgin and has to be set up again from the beginning. A Google login restores a lot of data. Setting up the banking app again (username & password, etc.) shouldn't be a problem either.
Of course you can also try a factory reset first, but setting up a completely new one is not avoided here either.
Much luck!
