[Android Poweruser Only] Lightweight ROM Recommendation - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

My phone is approaching it's 1 year warranty period, and I'm ready to root the device, trip my Knox, and unleash the beast.
I'm looking for a lightweight ROM alternative for the stock rom. I love the ROM, but I can also live without the extra features as I used to own a Nexus device. Either the lightest Google ROM or lightest TouchWiz made for the S7.
The main reason for this is that I used to own a Nexus which was capable of running 1GB RAM idle with the app's that I use. However, on the S7, I found that my phone is using double the resources. I want there to be a lot of power reserve just in case I run power intensive apps and save battery. I also want the ROM as compatible to the S7 (S7 ROM modified, not a Pixel ROM altered to work for an S7) as I don't want to run into compatibility issues in the longer run (just bring paranoid). What's a recommended ROM?

Hydra ROM is one of my faviroute tw roms, it gives you the edge screen functionality and has some small customisations in the rom control, it has great ram management, performance and battery life. You could check out shark jungle's review on it on yt I found that helpful

Samsung Exhibit 2 kernel

I just looked on xda n I read that the galaxy w is the same as exhibit 2.but I found a over clock kernal on xda for the galaxy w ——---------------------------------------------------—-So I am here to present upon thee my newest and likely last ROM for the Galaxy W: The Kezra Value Pack!
So what's new in this ROM compared to Kezra V4?
Well first off it's based off of the newest EUR firmware by Samsung, the infamous Value Pack that adds Face Unlock among other features to our phone (if you want a full changelist, look it up, Google is your friend). As per usual in a custom ROM, this one is rooted, deodexed, busybox'd and all that pretty stuff.
The custom Kernel present in this ROM is Cowithgun's latest modification of the Arco68 kernel for our phones. It adds tons of neat features, among the biggest on them being the ability to overclock your phone up to 1800MHz should you want to.
I can assure you the ROM is quite stable and should work without a hitch.
As for differences with Kezra V4 in terms of the applications inside here's the quick rundown:
1. I have dropped my arrogance and included most apps that people want (except for Polaris Office) and use. If you don't want a certain app, feel free to use Titanium Backup to remove it. 2. This ROM was shaped to be as close a copy of Cow's V7 ROM except that I have put an emphasis on the Gaming/Social aspect and left the Game and Social hubs from the TouchWiz Framework (CowPanel and Zeam are also included). 3. Kept the Samsung boot animation and sound because I think it's prettier that way

Is it possible to make this work on the exhibit 2

The Best Rom for Samsung Note 2 N7100

I wanna create a thread, to help each other finding the right ROM, according to our needs....we will debate the stability, performance and autonomy ( battery life)
i m not a fan of a single developer, now i am on Monxdified v.8.02, the first custom rom on NOTE 2, i got a good battery life, is stable, smooth...what else is out there to try?
I m interested in stability and battery life , and few options on top of the rom, not tons, just basic stuff, like the 4 way reboot, customizable toogles, etc
Devices History:
Motorola Defy (Cyanogen mod 7.2)
Motorola Razr XT 910
HTC One X (Blade Rom , ViperX, ARHD)
Samsung Note 2 N7100 ( Monxdified v 8.02)
Monxdified v8.02....moderate use, low battery draining, specially in standby
i think you cant say that there is a best rom. battery and "smoothness" really always depends extremely on the user and is not really measurable objective.
Don't know what everybody wants to know about stability? If there are no force closes (which is the case with almost every ROM) it is stable right? Of course there are some extraordinary roms like cm 10.1 (camera might get stuck or phone can't connect to camera) or weeo's and mazanda(?) note 8 rom (which got occasional hiccups and force closes because it is something way different and a lot of work) but the rest (based on sammy) is always stable isn't it? Phoenix rom, android revolution, criskelo's rom etc etc are all smooth, battery friendly and stable. I think it is just personal preference (like customization in aroma) and what the rom looks like that makes users choose one or another.
and as you haven't created something this thread probably belongs in general discussion. - just saying
Closing this thread as there is no better Rom than others.
They are all different and one Rom that fits someone needs might not be suitable to another user.

What ROM for most AOSP/cyanogenmod experience?

Hello,
today I got a new Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos).
Since today I always had a Galaxy S2 with Cyanogenmod installed. I never ever used the original Samsung ROM.
Sadly there is no Cyanogenmod for Galaxy S7.
I am looking for a ROM with these features:
- as much AOSP/Cyanogenmod like as possible, I don't need touchwiz, I'm fine with e.g. NovaLauncher (*but I heard there are battery drain issues on S7??*)
- no preinstalled apps, no google play store, a really "clean" android (of course camera, sensors etc should work)
- possibility to encrypt device, root, xprivacy
- a nice dark theme
1) Is there a ROM that suits my needs?
2) Or should I take the newest official ROM and debloat it with the tutorials here on the board.
Thank you for your suggestions! There are so many ROMs here, it is hard to choose.

1: No. There are no AOSP/CM roms for the S7 due to lack of sources for the kernel. The best you can do is to run some "custom" touchwiz rom where most samsung apps (such as dialer, contacts, clock etc) have been removed and replaced with their google counterparts, but in the end of the day, it's still a touchwiz rom.
2: Since the last phone you owned was the S2, I suggest you give stock touchwiz a real chance, a lot has changed since the S2 stock days so who knows, you might get used to it. The Android 7.0 Beta rom is quite good looking and quite fast, not stock android fast but still pretty good. Give it a shot and see how you feel about it.

Looking for best performance enhancing mods / apps !!

Hey guys I'm currently running Android 7.0 (20a) with Magisk root on my LG G5 (H830). I would love to be able to squeeze a few extra ponies out of this phone specifically while gaming on more demanding games. Not sure where to start whether there is good apps, Magisk Modules, or if i should try messing around with clock speeds. Any help and advice is appreciated. Thank You
I have considered updating to Oreo, but would assume its less optimized since its so new and I'm not sure if id lose root.
I like my stock based rom and the ability to pass safetynet, but if a custom rom improves performance significantly i would consider it as well.

Galaxy S7 Performance

I currently have an S7 flat with the stock samsung oreo rom, no root or other customizations. Upon its launch, it was on par if not faster than my iphone 6s. Now, the S7 is quit abit slower in gaming and overall performance vs the 6s.
I wonder if thats due to outdated software/OS, as i understand the S7 is by default running TouchWizz? The playstore says Samsung oneUI though.
Anyway, to the question, will installing a custom rom like Lineageos or any other rom improve general gaming and app performance, or will it not make a huge difference?
I have already done a factory reset, disable apps (bloat) etc.

There might be custom roms with better performance for some usage.
But you may have to check/test several roms to find the one that matches your needs best.
Here you can find some custom roms for your device:
Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveri
Galaxy S7 ROMs, how to root, kernels, apps, downloads, and mods. (Exynos)
forum.xda-developers.com
Best to create a backup of important data on your phone. Just in case...

The launcher Samsung changed the name to One UI but you're still running Samsung Experience not Touchwhiz.
