I wanna create a thread, to help each other finding the right ROM, according to our needs....we will debate the stability, performance and autonomy ( battery life)
i m not a fan of a single developer, now i am on Monxdified v.8.02, the first custom rom on NOTE 2, i got a good battery life, is stable, smooth...what else is out there to try?
I m interested in stability and battery life , and few options on top of the rom, not tons, just basic stuff, like the 4 way reboot, customizable toogles, etc
Devices History:
Motorola Defy (Cyanogen mod 7.2)
Motorola Razr XT 910
HTC One X (Blade Rom , ViperX, ARHD)
Samsung Note 2 N7100 ( Monxdified v 8.02)
Monxdified v8.02....moderate use, low battery draining, specially in standby
i think you cant say that there is a best rom. battery and "smoothness" really always depends extremely on the user and is not really measurable objective.
Don't know what everybody wants to know about stability? If there are no force closes (which is the case with almost every ROM) it is stable right? Of course there are some extraordinary roms like cm 10.1 (camera might get stuck or phone can't connect to camera) or weeo's and mazanda(?) note 8 rom (which got occasional hiccups and force closes because it is something way different and a lot of work) but the rest (based on sammy) is always stable isn't it? Phoenix rom, android revolution, criskelo's rom etc etc are all smooth, battery friendly and stable. I think it is just personal preference (like customization in aroma) and what the rom looks like that makes users choose one or another.
and as you haven't created something this thread probably belongs in general discussion. - just saying
Closing this thread as there is no better Rom than others.
They are all different and one Rom that fits someone needs might not be suitable to another user.

Hello, i would like to buy for a friend of mine a smartphone. I have 2 smartphone at the same price. S plus and Motorola atrix at 300 euro in Italy. I would like to know if S plus has some major bugs that i should worry about and the battery life for a normal user (very light use) with stock rom. Thanks ...

Don't know how the battery life is from the Motorola at stock roms, but at the start the Galaxy S Plus stock roms didn't had a good battery. But today we have nice stock roms which are pretty good on the battery! Although I always recommend installing a custom ROM for a smartphone (mostly always better then stock) Or when installing no custom ROM then at least root/custom kernel for more battery saving
This is btw not the right forum to post this.
i shell a Samsung Galaxy S Plus, new, 270 euros
send me a mp if you are interested

Hi, on how the root can save the battery. Please advise.
Motorola has better performance. Galaxy has a really small community here in xda, only a couple of roms.
I would go for the Galaxy s plus i have one too =D its a very good phone.
I have Galaxy S and it´s amazing phone, really nice fast with Android 4.0, so I think, S Plus must be a bit better , I have tried Motorola once, and never more - lags, bad software optimalization. I recommend you SGS!
I would raccomend Atrix. I Bought it at the same price, and with stock rom with light usage I got 53 Hours
Ah, I'm italian too, so I got an italian Atrix
Spero ti chiarisca alcune cose, e ti dico, non ha nessunissimo lag etc, anzi è veramente buono come phone, se poi gli metti una custom rom sei a posto
I think the Atrix would be the better option. More power and better versatility
Galaxy s Plus
I have had excellent Samsung phones that gave me no trouble at all, but Motorola was the opposite for me.
I don´t think i´ll be getting a Motorola again.
I have Samsung Galaxy S Plus and I´m satisfied. Excellent display, stable android 2.3.6, etc.
Motorola Atrix for better performance. 512MB amount of ram is not enough for current and newer android os version. I myself is using a Samsung Captivate, total ram is 512MB, user available ram (stock rom) is 327MB, free ram is always less than 200MB (about 100MB to 150MB) and it never ever enough.
Samsung, a top mobile selling company all around the world, who enrolled smartphones in mobile markets the way they should be. They brought power of Android based smart phone with affordability, and a huge range to select a perfect one based on needed specification, and according to budget. From low range to super high, we all see Samsung’s devices to be on top priority of all users because of their good build quality, and good after sale services.
One the most popular handset from Samsung is Galaxy Grand, it comes with few variants classified on basis of dual-core and quad-core processors. In this post we will talk about Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos i9082, in terms of specification, this handset is good enough to entertain you much, but you’re limited to customization, and many things just because you are on stock firmware which was given default on device when you had purchased it.
The only way unlock this customization is by flashing a custom Rom.
the best ROMs I have tried ARE:
1-CYANOGENMOD
this rom is a perfect rom that supports lollipop 5.1.1 in its latest version cm12.1
2- TOUCHWIZ REVOLUTION V9
Very light Rom, only 500 MB size. Mostly all unnecessary apps has been removed, but don’t worry, all necessary apps would be there. Apart from being light, it offers high performance. It has been loaded with performance script and pre-over clocked settings.
3-Blisspop
BlissPop is one of the most highly customizable roms that you can install on your mobile device,
BlissPop is CM12.1 based, with some features added in from various roms.
4-Resurrection Remix ®
Resurrection Remix ROM has been based on AOKP, CM, Omni, Slim, PA and original Remix ROM builds, creating an awesome combination of performance, customization, power and the most new features, brought directly to your device
5-LiquidSmooth
LiquidSmooth is an aftermarket firmware based on AOSP and SlimROM.

This is my first time installing a custom ROM on my original Moto G and with so many to choose from I was wondering what your opinion is. The Overview of the ROM doesn't say much about speed/battery/CPU Usage etc. I'm looking for a ROM that's light on CPU and Battery as well as fast and customizable. I know CM is the most popular but I've heard it's not to good with battery life. Oh, and one more thing, Going with customizeability/features idea I would prefer Android 6. Any input would be greatly apreciated
P.S. Wouldn't mind kernel recommendations either, but I have a less than basic understanding of a kernel .
I would recommand ResurrectionRemix its based on 6.0.1 and has the april 2 security update and has OTA support its based on CM13 also but has so many tweaks and customization without loosing fluidity and smoothness im runnning it after testing multiple rom andits the one I<ll stay with until android 7... im getting 6h screen on time on a 12h uptime day (yesterday) it also offers the cm13 theme installer so pretty sick
Hello Mattwmaster58,
I am in the same situation - looking for a fast, stable(!) & bug-free rom with very good battery-performance.
I have testet many xda-roms for my old samsung-phone (S3 mini), and was surprised how much one differs from the others.
There is quite big list of number of Custom ROMs available for Moto G which might confuse users like us. Every single rom has some advantages and disadvantages.
For me it is important that the rom-thread provides a list of bugs and features, and also shows what changes were made (for instance: Omni-Rom).
I haven't shifted from Orion OS from 4 months give it a try buttery smooth and stable totally bug free if u don't use soft reboot that's IMO nothing big
Btw do tell if u find a better in terms of battery or performance or either
I have tested 15 ROMs for Moto G (Falcon) and below is my recommendation of ROMs :
- Omnirom : Stable and fluid.
- SlimSaber : Optimized version of Omnirom - fast smooth and stable, especially previous version. Good battery SoT.
- Exodus : rock solid stable.
- IDCrisis : stock based, stable
Hello,
today I got a new Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos).
Since today I always had a Galaxy S2 with Cyanogenmod installed. I never ever used the original Samsung ROM.
Sadly there is no Cyanogenmod for Galaxy S7.
I am looking for a ROM with these features:
- as much AOSP/Cyanogenmod like as possible, I don't need touchwiz, I'm fine with e.g. NovaLauncher (*but I heard there are battery drain issues on S7??*)
- no preinstalled apps, no google play store, a really "clean" android (of course camera, sensors etc should work)
- possibility to encrypt device, root, xprivacy
- a nice dark theme
1) Is there a ROM that suits my needs?
2) Or should I take the newest official ROM and debloat it with the tutorials here on the board.
Thank you for your suggestions! There are so many ROMs here, it is hard to choose.

1: No. There are no AOSP/CM roms for the S7 due to lack of sources for the kernel. The best you can do is to run some "custom" touchwiz rom where most samsung apps (such as dialer, contacts, clock etc) have been removed and replaced with their google counterparts, but in the end of the day, it's still a touchwiz rom.
2: Since the last phone you owned was the S2, I suggest you give stock touchwiz a real chance, a lot has changed since the S2 stock days so who knows, you might get used to it. The Android 7.0 Beta rom is quite good looking and quite fast, not stock android fast but still pretty good. Give it a shot and see how you feel about it.
My phone is approaching it's 1 year warranty period, and I'm ready to root the device, trip my Knox, and unleash the beast.
I'm looking for a lightweight ROM alternative for the stock rom. I love the ROM, but I can also live without the extra features as I used to own a Nexus device. Either the lightest Google ROM or lightest TouchWiz made for the S7.
The main reason for this is that I used to own a Nexus which was capable of running 1GB RAM idle with the app's that I use. However, on the S7, I found that my phone is using double the resources. I want there to be a lot of power reserve just in case I run power intensive apps and save battery. I also want the ROM as compatible to the S7 (S7 ROM modified, not a Pixel ROM altered to work for an S7) as I don't want to run into compatibility issues in the longer run (just bring paranoid). What's a recommended ROM?
Hydra ROM is one of my faviroute tw roms, it gives you the edge screen functionality and has some small customisations in the rom control, it has great ram management, performance and battery life. You could check out shark jungle's review on it on yt I found that helpful
