So I was flicking round the camera and trying different settings. I clicked on the filter icon and now I don't seem to be able to turn it off. I've switched to adjust the aperture which turns it off but then when I click to turn the aperture off the filters back on again. Am I going nuts or are they usual all unhighlighted? If so how do I turn the filter off?
You need to tap the filter button ( 3 cicles) then select original, that's the off setting

You have to choose a filter. Select original and then it goes away.

I have been searching through a couple of Android forums and I can't seem to find any info about this.I know the LED on the left side of the earpiece is for notifications but is the one on the right an LED or an ambient light sensor, I have never seen my screen get dim unless it's about to shut off and then it will dim for maybe 2 seconds before it shuts off, and I have never seen it get brighter
Your auto-brightness setting is off...
Goto your homescreen
Press the menu button
Press "Settings"
Press "Sound and Display"
Uncheck "Disable auto backlight"
It is an ambient light sensor..
thanks that's what I thought but there was no indication if that's what it was in the manual or anywhere else
anyone know way to disable the orange LED when the phone is charging?
it is blinding at night and sort of ruins the effect of the cool night-time clock that the 'Kaloer Clock' app gives the phone
so heres a thought
Turn off Capacitive buttons backlight
it would save battery life and when i watch videos it can be strictly just the video screen n not the 4 buttons light too...
even better would be a feature where if u hold the back button for 5 seconds it toggles the capacitive buttons backlight on n off....
any support on this guys? im sure it wouldnt be too difficult
There is an app in the market to do this.
Its called "LEDs hack" (without thr quotes.
Type that exactly otherwise it wont show.
Sometimes regular market doesnt show it but appbrain will everytime.
First time it starts you select the phone u use. Only like 2 or 3 phones show.... you have to scroll that list to find the evo.

You would have found the answer to this if you searched this forum.

I haven't found anything yet. There are triggers that will turn the buttons back on. One trigger is if you are on a call and the screen shuts off, when the screen comes back on the buttons light back up.
I am trying to find a way to block this and many triggers with tasker but it is a trial and error process.

leds hack works perfectly. runs for as long as you have it active. no noticeable battery drain either.
i've been using it since my old moto droid days.
Not sure when this occurred perhaps when I upgraded to jelly bean, but before when I brought my phone to my ear the screen would turn off as I brought it back in front the screen would pop back on again. Now it stays on and I can even press the buttons with my cheek. Any idea where this option is located? I have all my motion options turned on and I have smart stay turned on under display (I tried turning it off as well didn't make difference) thanks
go into your dialer press menu, call settings and make sure auto screen off during calls is checked.

I was able to find it, just go to your "log" screen and click on call settings then scroll till the "turn on screen during calls". I actually love this feature.
I'm wondering how the feature in the OPO that recognize screen gestures, while the screen of the device is off, actually works? For example, the feature to double tap to awake the phone, or draw a circle to open the camera app. Does the screen really been turned off, or actually the screen is on, and just the screen is black. (this way the screen is on, hence can recognize the gestures, and on the other hand save battery energy).
Thanks!

The display (what you seem to call the screen) is one thing and the touch digitizer is a different thing. The display turns off, but the touch panel stays active and listens for taps/gestures.

Ok, and from development point of view, can one build an android app running on OPO that listens for gestures while the display is off? Meaning allowing the user to define gestures and their actions, expanding the OPO limited fixed gestures and their actions?
Thanks.

I don't think an app can do it. I think (if it is at all possible to add custom gestures) it'll have to be done in the kernel.
S22 Ultra has huge screen and I would like to use it in landscape orientation always, is there a way to set it permanently ?
I have already tried 'Turn your phone the orientation you want it to stay in and then lock it with the auto rotate button from the quick panel. You can lock it in either portrait or landscape that way.'
and didn't work for me, here is the video https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...orientation-permanently.4411873/post-86533919
one approach: use bixby routines and set to rotate to landscape for all apps on open

I dont see trigger for screen unlock
Is this not an option in the pull-down toggles anymore? I'm still waiting for my S22U to come in, but on my S8 you can pull down and get a "Auto-Rotate" toggle. You'd enable that, rotate the screen the way you want it, and then tap it again -- the text would then change to "Portrait" or "Landscape" and the rotation would be locked in.
Turn your phone the orientation you want it to stay in and then lock it with the auto rotate button from the quick panel. You can lock it in either portrait or landscape that way.
@itsXpanD and @AndroidNO0B i have tried this, once i lock the screen in landscape and go back. it returns to portrait.

Search your settings for landscape and the rotate to landscape option near the bottom.

Your browser is not able to display this video.
(had to record with other mobile as as screen recording gets stopped when locked.)
managed to make it happen
this is what I was missing.
Huh, that's interesting. Seems to be a more recent addition, there was no long-press menu on OneUI 1.0 yet. Glad it's working now!
