Notification LED - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I have been searching through a couple of Android forums and I can't seem to find any info about this.I know the LED on the left side of the earpiece is for notifications but is the one on the right an LED or an ambient light sensor, I have never seen my screen get dim unless it's about to shut off and then it will dim for maybe 2 seconds before it shuts off, and I have never seen it get brighter

Your auto-brightness setting is off...
Goto your homescreen
Press the menu button
Press "Settings"
Press "Sound and Display"
Uncheck "Disable auto backlight"
It is an ambient light sensor..

thanks that's what I thought but there was no indication if that's what it was in the manual or anywhere else

anyone know way to disable the orange LED when the phone is charging?
it is blinding at night and sort of ruins the effect of the cool night-time clock that the 'Kaloer Clock' app gives the phone

keyboard light under wm6

Does anybody knows how to turn on the keyboard lights under wm6
I have a mda pro but cannot find the option to turn on the lights.
I know under wm5 there was a option to turn it on.
please help me out
Once you are in settings, open the "Buttons" settings
Select the "Backlight" tab. There you have a tickbox and a drop-down list - you should know what to do
Also, the keyboard backlight is light sensitive - so it won't turn on unless your surroundings are dark
Enjoy!
The Universal has its light sensor at the top of left hand side of its keyboard, it's about 3/4-1 mm in diameter. Close it by your finger (simulating nightly conditions ), and press any key -- you should see the light instantly.
Just a little note but if you leave box unticked the keyboard lights up in all conditions for the time you have set(up to 10 seconds).
Erm, guys. Backlight turns on when I'm typing at all conditions. What's it could be?
May be your sensor is damaged? What do you have in HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKey*?

Curiousity about a status light

I was curious every other HTC phone i've had (e.g.) MDA, Dash......Is there a status light on the Fuze I notice that in the left corner of the earpiece there is something that looks like a light?
That depends on what you mean with status light.
The ring around the "enter" key give an indication about missed calls, appointments or whatever.
thats the light sensor for dynamic backlight ajusting
I mean status light as in it blinks green when you have service, red when you have no service, or green and blue when you have service and wifi connected
No such light on the TP. You will have to check the screen for that.
The light sensor is indeed located at the top of the phone, next to the opening for the speaker. Try it by setting light to automatic and cover the sensor by hand. You'll see the light intensity of the display change.
Thank you....Just a feature I miss

[APP] Smart Screen ON

After the success of Smart Screen OFF, I decided to publish another app called Smart Screen ON available in LITE and PRO version too.
Smart screen ON
Smart Screen ON LITE
DESCRIPTION:
Smart screen ON is an innovative app which turns your proximity sensor into a power button. If you have a big phone with no physical button on the front(Galaxy Nexus for example, you can turn on or turn off the phone just tapping or waving your hand (finger) on proximity sensor.
FEATURES:
When you change the settings, remember saving and restarting service using built in app specific button.
There are two mode available, both mode can coexist:
+WAVE MODE:
Wave (move) your hand/finger on proximity sensor, even without touching it.
You can set the amount of waves you want to use to turn on/off screen and the time between each wave.
Do you want to wave your hand quickly or slowly?
+TAP AND SWIPE MODE:
1) Tap proximity sensor using your finger;
2) Wait for the first vibration;
3) Swipe (remove) quickly your finger, before it vibrates for the second time.
You can set the time before the first and the second vibration.
+DISABLE SENSOR
You can also disable sensor after an amount of time you can set in the app panel.
The app will disable the whole service and proximity sensor after X time of inactivity.
+STATISTICS
Statistics include:
A)Smart Screen ONs;
B)Smart Screen OFFs;
C)Total power button saves;
D)The power used by your proximity sensor (which is very very low).
+START ON BOOT
If you check this, the app will start on boot.
+HIDE ICON
If you hide the icon, the app could be instable and could be killed by Android in low memory conditions.
+ENABLE FOR TURNING SCREEN OFF
The app has been created to turn screen off, but I also give you the ability to turn screen off.
+DISABLE WHEN LANDSCAPE
The sensor will stop working when landscape.
+INCOMPATIBILITY
-HTC Desire HD is not compatible with "wave mode" because its proximity sensor doesn't work as it should.
If you want to suggest new features, please contact me on this thread, at [email protected] or use my site www.androidhd.it
first off love the app purchased the full version. i have a evo lte and when i disable the lock screen it will still pops up a random times but frequently. even thought in the settings it says no lock screen, i still get the lock screen is there a work around to get that to stop?
Concept is amazing, but how about battery stats? Have someone been using it for some time and can tell me its impact on the battery?
I purchased it from the Play store (to get rid of the notification bar icon). Works pretty well. I haven't been able to test this and see if running the app tolls the battery more, though I would think it most likely does.
When I wave my hand to wake up my device, it briefly displays my home screen (literally a split second) before the lock screen shows up. I haven't played with the app enough to figure out why it does this, I have my lock screen enabled for the record.
yea mine is disable and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't i haven't been able to figure out why.
i am also having a issue with the brightness on the screen i had it set to auto and when i would turn the screen on the display would become dimmed every now and then and it would stay dimmed until i would go into the brightness area and change the brightness then it would restore to normal. this happened with auto brightness set and manual brightness set.

Double tap to wake notification light....

I just got this device, and I love it, but every time I double tap to wake the screen, the notification light blinks. Doing the weird clock swipe down when the screen is off does the same thing, but turning on the screen from the power button doesn't. It's pretty annoying because I don't even have a notification when it happens. Does anyone know how to disable the damn light from blinking without totally turning off the notification light?
On my LS996 all it does is one long slow "blink" that lasts about 1 second when I DT2W or do the slide to see notifications. I can't really imagine it causes that much grief and I doubt it can be disabled; it's a way of letting you double-confirm the action you're trying to accomplish I think: it lights to let you know it's recognized the touch and it goes from there.

Tap to show lock screen (double tap) does not work when ambient display is off

Is anyone else having the same issue?
Double tap only works when the ambient display is showing (the clock before the lock screen).
If you turn off ambient display all together, double tap does not work.

Click to collapse
Double tap works for me without ambient display being on.
I'm on stock 58.0.A.28.51.
Looks like it's one of the system apps whose permission I modified.
I just did a factory reset
It seems like a common issue with this phone. My tap to wake has never worked properly and it's driving me insane. Tap tap tap TAP TAAAAP, then it works. Sometimes.
Does anyone have a solution for this before I throw it out of the second floor window?
Yeah, that's one of the very few annoying things. I wonder if it has to do with the screen protector? There have been user reports of lower touch sensitivity (mostly at the edges of the screen) due to screen protectors.
Double tap isn't working again when ambient display is set to "OFF" and I have not messed around with system app permissions.
I did verify that 2x tap is working after I debloated the phone with AD set to "OFF". Not sure what has changed since then because I have not used this phone since debloat.
More details:
-2x tap will only work when AD is showing
-for as long as AD is showing that clock, 2x tap works
Double tap and lag-free notifications should work much better when you set "Smart activation" in Ambient display settings (lokk in "When to show Ambient display" settings).
Same issues, tried many things mentioned here and more ... you'd think simple things like this would work flawlessly in a high end phone. Really tired of digging and digging in the phone and online to find solutions, so frustrating. Sony will have to make something extraordinary in the future to convince me to buy another phone from them ...
It's way too long time have passed from the last post, but I was wondering about the same issue of double tap when searching for the answer had led me to this topic. I've recently bought two same phones, not Sony but Nokia 5.4 with Android 10 and stucked in gesture unlock too. Though this topic didn't helped me, later I've found the solution by myself and eager to share the way that did worked for me with everyone.
So, if the double tap to wake up the screen suddenly stopped working, try this:
1) go to Settings-System-Gestures
2) find the "double-tap wake" option and turn it OFF
3) back to home screen and lock the phone with the power button
4) unlock the phone with any way
5) go to Settings-System-Gestures
6) find the "double-tap wake" option and turn it ON
That's all, your favorite unlocking must work again (well, both my phones were healed). Good luck! )
Inversely, you can't disable tap to wake on the AOD.
Infuriating.
In any case, 3-taps always works for me
Including this phone and Pixel 2XL.
