I got my Mi4i a week back and since then I am in love with this beast. This the best value for money phone at present. And if any one planning to buy this phone do not even think twice to buy it. Just go and grab it on the next thursday flash sale and I bet this will be the best decision of your in spending money on a mobile.
What I don't like is :
MIUI 6 based on lollipop is quite good and looks like poor man's iPhone but takes up much resources. The UI and built-in apps are too good. But it lacks lollipop experience. So a stock Android Lollipop based ROM is much anticipated.
I am going to switch to CM or any AOSP ROM as soon as it is available for Mi4i.
Thank you for your input bro. I have also been thinking of buying a good handset within the 15000 INR mark. And the Mi 4i seems as a viable option.
So I have one question for you. How much is the internal memory in this? I mean how much memory space is given for apps and how much is provided as the sd card? What is the total usable space? Because previously I had been using a phone that had a 32gb ROM and 16gb seems a little low.
Thanks again.
Mi 4i review
Hi, I am using mi4i from 1 week
What I loves:
1. Its superb screen
2. UI experiene
3. Build quality
4. Screen to body ratio
5. Time lapse and slow motion option in Video mode
What I dont like:
1. Screen flicker in camera mode some times not always. I dont know why
2. Anti grease coating is not properly done on screen. Like some part of screen is super clear because of Anti grease coating but some part of screen having finger marks because of antigrease coating missed at that place
3. Camera Quality- I used sony xperia neo and samsung s2. If I compare picture quality of mi 4i with them, so did feel any major difference
Click Thanks:good: if you find it useful.
guys i'm planning to buy new phone under 14000.

In my opinion real world experiences will give you a better idea rather than antutu battery benchmark
I have just received my mi4i and i want to know one thing while pressing power button to turn on the screen it is making chic kinda sound and feeling loose.
Does every fone have same finish of power button?

Why would you even need something like that it might eat into your battery. Any who you can install light flow app and do that.
My exp.
Front camera- ultimate
Battery - superb
Display - verry good bt not better then amoled
Performance- good
Speakers and mic- very good
Now the bad things
Back camera- ist good but as impressive as sony or Samsung 13 mp cameras are
Camera application - its worst
3g speed - very low as compare to other, i think its hv modem below 7.2mbps
Speaker- volume is lower then redmi 1s
Miui 6 - still very buggy rom for this phone (now waiting for custom roms)
Smart dual sim- missing (means u can't get phone call on both sims at the same time)
In network settings - only 3g mode is missing
Internal memory - when u update all preinstalled apps u will get very few amount of free storage around 9gb
Low antutu benchmark score- even below mi2 and redmi note
Now i m thinking to go for another phone
Thank you
can anyone tell me how hot can this soc get?!
not only in games but just using the usual social media apps...
everything about the phone is awesome, only thing is my back and home buttons leds are weird
have you seen the push notification issues in MIUI.

I was about to buy this phone. As I was researching a bit about it, I found that people are facing issues with push notifications with common apps like whatsapp, facebook, gmail etc.
I read that people are getting these messages delayed, and solutions for this are not working for everyone. For some people locking the application works, for some it does not.
Have you faced any of these issues?

I had some issues with apps getting killed after some time (in the background).
I solved this in More-> Battery -> Energymanagement -> settings to change the Kill backgroud Apps to Never (make new profile for this and activate that).
Maybe that helps..
Mi4i as a piece of hardware and for the price is very good value for money. The MIUI, as it is wright now, its to bad to be true, but it is really, really, bad.
I had to return to my old samsung dual sim because this one is not fit for work. Lost notifications, drop calls, heats a lot, battery....
Waiting for a trusted rom to try and take advantage of the money I spend.

I have LG G4 for almost 5 months and sick of it.
After all the new phones that came out, i have come to decision my next phone will be or the Nexus 6P or the new HTC 10.
Only problem is, not sure which one. HTC is my fav only because of build quality and i already know how great they are. ( Had HTC One M8 before the G4)
And I'm afraid of unknown or known issues with the Nexus 6P mostly because of Huwaiwi or whatever the name is..
I'll be glad for help, camera is very important as well as speakers.
had been using the nexus 6p for almost a week now.... built quality is good, camera and speakers are really good..... size is big though.... only problem with nexus 6p is sd810. if amoled screen , stock android and guaranteed regular updates are not much important for you, then you should get the htc 10, very powerful phone
get the HTC 10
the problem of Nexus 6P is
1- SD 810 issues are very well known.
2- the glass around the camera can be cracked easily.
I have used the HTC M8 before & the updates really fast & performance is perfect for HTC smartphones ......plus the HTC 10 camera are really good

To be honest i don't really understand the difference between the amoled and lcd.
I only know that amoled is better, but I've seen that the nexus 6p amoled screen isn't that great, from revivews they say that in the sun you can barely see anything. Can you confirm that?
Of course that stock android is important for me, that's one of the reasons i want the Nexus, but the sense is also very good.
Overall i think the Nexus will be my choice, mostly because he is cheaper, and the pure android experiment.
If anyone else can say something about these two it would be great.

SD 810 is surely a bummer.. I thought that because the Nexus is a pure android, the sd 810 is ok to live with. Guess i were wrong.
About n. 2 - well that's a risk i guess every phone have that way or another.
Anyway I'll put a case on the phone.
I also had the M8 for almost a year and a half. Really loved it. The problem is that in my country HTC doesn't have so much support, not much people know about them. I bought the phone back then for 700$ and sold it for 250$. That's sucks..

We have a dedicated thread for such questions here,

Many opinions to be had there, so I'll close this thread. :good:
I recently totally effed up my Mi Max and despite my best efforts, there doesn't seem to be any way for me to resurrect it. I've basically given up and gone back to my Nexus 6p. However, it is too small for what I'm used to and feels sluggish in comparison to the Mi Max. What's the best phone for around the same price that could replace my Mi Max. I know about the Mi Max 2 what are some of the other options?
OnePlus 3T or iPhone X xD

Thanks Fradco10, OnePlus 3T is a contender but it is considerably higher priced. Probably want to stay away from iPhone x. @Ibuprofen. Thanks for the suggestion but that is too General off of thread. I'm hoping that hear people would already be thinking about replacing their specific phone which would be a lot more helpful Imo
For those who might be interested, I went ahead and purchased a used but in mint condition mate 9. Paid $325 for it. I think it's a pretty decent deal and a more than worthy replacement for my My Max. Now I'm going to try and see if I can brick it also LOL.
The title.
I am going to buy this phone soon.
Edit. I will skip this phone and get myself a redmi note 7 once it is released globally.(or a poco f1, once the software bugs are fixed.)
Android Pie is coming, sooo

Atleast for me, forum seems to be full of people spamming, asking same questions over and over again, not using search. Also crying non stop about everything, having bought the phone for 150usd, and expecting it to be better than say Pixel for 1000usd. I also agree that community is bad. But development is good, a lot of custom roms, been using Pie rom Pixel Experience, runs like stock, no bugs, great performance and battery life. But if i were you, i would wait for redmi note 7.. much nicer design, a bit better soc, and probably better camera. And its gonna cost basically the same, well maybe 10euros more. Its not really logical buying redmi note 5 at this time, when you have newer devices for the same price. Even redmi note 6 costs the same and is newer, but the only upgrade on it is notched screen. RN7 is a real upgrade tho
Ive been on xda forums since 2008 or so, and i would usually buy flagship devices for a ****load of money, and community was always nice. My last 2 devices, were cheap ones from china, leeco le pro 3 and RN5, and in both cases community was way worse.. So i came to conclusion, the cheaper the device is, the ****tier the community is.

And don't forget: In this community we have like 5-6 type of people:
- The PUBG user: how's the pubg gameplay plz anyone?
- The SOT lover: I have bad SOT plz dev fix asap
- The random reporter: I have X bug plz dev fix it see the screenshot
- The updates guy: Next update when plz?
- The normal user: we all know them.

Well, in my experience the worst community was with my old S7 edge, that was... my god, a little example: random people building kernels/roms full of bugs and crap, and stupid users paying to be able to use them.

I noticed that most of the people who are on xda are mostly indians. No offence to them but they are extremely dumb (not all of them, only the ones who ask retarded questions about this and that.). I can wait for note 7 however the 48mp camera is a gimmick.

Its not a gimmick. Its a really good sensor from samsung, and it uses pixel bining technology. Combining 4pixels into 1, resulting in waaayyy bigger pixels and way more light coming in, resulting in good quality 12mpx photos. RN7 is a midrange device for a budget phone price. You cant get sd660 with all the other goodies for this price anywhere else.

Interesting. I can go with this phone but the glass back, not my cup of tea.
Yes it can be replaceable, but why add a glass back if your phone has no wireless charging?
Also i found a discount on a note 5 pro in my store for just 100 bucks. It expires on 17 january. So what should i do? Buy it or wait?

Because design wise it looks much more premium than aluminium. Also they follow design line of other xiaomi phones. They released mi 8 series with glass back, and if you look at mi 8 light, youll see its the same design as RN7. So, you get new, modern design, and design wise it didnt cost xiaomi anything, because research and development was already done on mi 8 series. If they released another metal phone, looking just like RN5, people would be crying non stop.. They already were crying, because RN4, RN5, RN6 had basically same design..

Well, 100usd is a joke of a price. For this hardware, its a bargain. If you dont need that extra 10% performance, better low light photos and more modern design, go for it. You wont find rn7 for 100usd thats for sure.

Alright. I will look and see what i will buy.
The Redmi note 7 seems once again to be a very good phone for the price.
I am very happy with the RN5, updates are regular and I don't matter about dumb people who are always complaining about nothing. I'm not ready to change because I hope Android pie update as announced on the forum ( perhaps increasing photo and video mode) , but I am a bit afraid to loose call recording feature which is a very important functionality for me. As far I know, Android 9 doesn't allow it andI hope it will be still there thanks to Miui.
This is my first Xiaomi and I'm really impressed by the great quality of this smartphone.
