Mate 9 Partial Notification Sounds - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I have the MHA-L29 model from Amazon. Although actual notifications are not delayed out-of-the-box, the notification sounds do not play in their entirety. These are stock sounds. The sounds play maybe a split-second. Any ideas? I have tested different stock notification sounds, and my own on the device; all act the same.
Thanks

Apparently this is an issue to a specific app I use - Maildroid.

What are your notification sounds?

From time to time I see here a thread about "show your today screen". However, I've never saw a thread for "how does your Polaris/Cruise sounds like?". While changing the ringtone is very easy, changing the other notification sounds, like new SMS, E-Mail or alarm sounds is not that common. I, for instance, still use the default sounds because I haven't found any good alternative.
So, what sounds do you use?

Ringtone/Notification Volume Question?

I have tried to search for this but haven't really found any solution. On my previous android phones when I go into work or somewhere that I want my phone on vibrate I would just simply hold the Vol Down key until it goes to Vibrate and everything would be silenced (ringtones, notification tones, etc.) but when I got phone calls, text, etc it would vibrate.
For some reason on this phone when I do this it doesn't control the individual "Notification" volume, so I have go in and manually control that myself. I guess for some people this might be useful to manually control them individually but to just quickly silence the normal things like ringtones & notifications. For me personally it's quite annoying to have to deal with them on an individual basis.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out on this!
I'm also curious about this. I do the same thing. I put my phone on vibrate when I get to work which silences the ringer but if I do something else (I often play ads in Viggle for bonus points) that volume is untouched and must be silenced on its own...
I'm using CM10 currently. Not sure if this differs between roms.

Is there a settings / sound / volumes / link ringtone and notifications check box?
I haven't had either issue. If mine is on vibrate that's all it does, if silenced it's all silenced. Hmm.
Have you guys tried using a widget or the notification toggle?

Thanks Romman0! That option is not available, but just your keyword of "link" enabled me to find an app that does exactly what I needed! :good:

There is a setting in Cm10 that links ringtone and notifications

Would anyone be interested in a widget for this? I could get right onto developing it if there's a demand for it.

Yes it's the bigger bug of the Z3. Hope that Sony starts to investigate.....
Waiying new update
Solution
No need to wait to for an update.
1. Go to settings - sound - system notification sound: select no sound. Do the same with whatsapp settings.
2. Install lightflow. Go to lightflow notification settings, select and activate individual notification sounds for whatsapp, whatsapp groups, gmail, messages etc.
3. Go to lightflow volume settings, activate individual lightflow notification sounds and adjust their volume as needed.
4. Sorted!

Really? I was able to get a notification sound that was plenty loud. As loud as my previous phone LG G2. And with the same sound.
edit: Experimenting further revieled that my success was related to the notification sound used. I am using a mp3 tune from my sd cards music library. Choose an original sound from Z3 and the sound is weak again.
I used light flow, did not hear a difference between the sound. The volume is still low
have this issue as well. hope the new version will be able to solve this problem.
Waiting sony to start rolling an update, it takes time sony why others solve their software rapidely
Same issue here. Definitely looking for a fix to this or an update as it's quite annoying to listen to the sound and hear it plenty loud only to have it be really quiet (even at full notification volume) when receiving texts or other notifications.

Same here. Hope the update isn't too far into the future. Although, it might be bundled with lollipop a couple of months from now.

Don't hold your breath on an update to address this, the Z2 has the same issue and it was never fixed by Sony. There was a sound mod though, but it required root...which may not be a possibility for some Z3s.

I am on a company call as we are patching servers and every time we bounce a server I get a bunch of text notifications which is expected. The only issue is I am wearing headphones for the call on my honor 8 and I hear the notification sound in the headphones. Super annoying! Any way to turn this off??? Thanks in Advance.

I don't think Emui has a automatic option. But you can always set notifications to silent or vibrate only.
I suppose there would be an app that changes the sound profile according to phone activity, but never looked for it.

Unless using a specific app for that (with root?), no.
Well that sucks. I require audio notification. But it is way too loud in headphones. This is a deal breaker for me. Contemplating returning device to store...

I found a workaround for those who don't like audio notifications from SMS/MMS messagese in headphone while listening to music or watching videos. Install Google Messenger and use it instead. It seems that the Messaging app in EMUI is the issue. It's also weird that there is no option in the app to disable the "beep beep" sound that only happens when headphones are plugged in. Don't forget to set notification sound in Messaging to "None" and disable "Vibrate" or you may have notification from both apps.
OK now this is getting rediculous!! When on a call the person on the other end of the call can hear my calendar and text notifications. It sounds like incoming call "beep beep". This needs to be fixed as it is very unprofessional when on a business call. Please fix this Huawei!!!!

Yes, I get that too. The only way is to silent notifications and vibration.
People are talking to me and ask "what was that?", should have a option to disable it.
Also I haven't found any sound manager in Google play store. Probably only xPosed.

Could you try set up a ifttt script or something?
I've never done it personally, but I've seen others use it for problems, so maybe?
This seems like a bug asit does not always happen.

I'm experiencing this too, anyone has a solution for this annoying behaviour ?
I've written on honor 8 support forum, and they suggest to send my phone to an assistant center, but i think it is a software bug.
I can't really test this right now, but it looks like there is a way to fix it in settings. Under the Do Not Disturb section you can add a rule for an event and one of the options besides calendar events just states "Phone". That ought to squelch the problem.
For me I installed Volume Control + from GPS.
There is a free version but I did not test it on my Honor 8. Still the Volume Control + has controls to separate the Ring tone and Notifications volume so the work independently of each other.
To date this is the only option which works for me without Rooting my device..
Best of all you can manage your volume level for calls to system...
Now I can use the earbuds or phone without getting deaf while on a call or listening to music when a notification comes in...

App Bug Do not disturb not respected by XDA APP

hey everyone,
I noticed a very annoying bug in the new XDA App. If I´m currently using the XDA App, having them as the app that´s currently displayed on top, freshly arriving notifications produce a sound despite DND mode set.
This does not happen when the app is not in foreground.
I tried specific no sound and no vibration for XDA when long pressing an XDA notificatin in the notification bar, but this doesn´t change the issue.
This seems to happen on all my devices. A pixel 4 xl when it was still running A11, now on my pixel 4 xl when it´s running A12.
It has happened on a zenfone 7 pro as well.
Basically I can´t use the XDA app when my device should absolutely stay silent at the moment.

Interesting ... I have mine set to vibrations only (no sounds in Android settings). And this seems to work for me.
I can feel the vibration but do not hear a sound when new notifications are arriving - even if I am in the xda app (in foreground).
But I will check again.
On my system (SM-G973F, stock Samsung Android 11 with OneUI 3.1) I hear no notification sound when I disable sounds (i.e. set to vibration only) in system settings.
Maybe it is different when using the do not disturb mode/settings.
@Freak07 : Have you checked DND settings, exceptions and app permissions?
There is also an app permission called "do not disturb" ... not sure what it means.
And can you test if the system toggles for disabling all sounds works for you as well?

Unfortunately disabling sounds completely is not an option for me, as I want calls to go through for example.
And yes I have DND mode setup with some custom "rules" depending if it´s night or daytime.
It might be that the XDA-App isn´t "classified" as a normal messaging app when it´s in foreground.
See the attached screenshots, but the only app that is allowed to interrupt is digital wellbeing, the people category only has "calls" allowed, and alarms and other interruptions has alarms, media sounds, reminder and calendar events allowed.
No messenger or any other notification does make a sound. Neither does the XDA-App produce a notification sound when it´s either closed or running in background. But as soon as the app is open and I get a notification it produces the notifcation sound.

Yeah ... maybe classified as "Alarm" or "Media sound"
Hello, I think I have successfully recreated this issue. When setting notifications from XDA to silent, they still make a sound when the app is in use. I will log this bug for a fix, Thanks!
Can confirm. I do not have DND setup at all, but still when app is in foreground and a new alert/notification is received, i get the sound (without the noti. displaying in QS.).
Not a bad behaviour in itself but can be disturbing especially during DND period.
A better behaviour is displaying notification withoud sound when DND is on.
