My F1 Global Version arrived this afternoon. I popped in my T-Mobile SIM and set the phone up. I've been using it for less than an hour.
Good News:
Voice works fine. I made multiple test calls with WiFi off. All sounded great.
Bad News:
So far I've not been able to get a data connection via 4G. It says I have service but pages won't open. I'll play around with it more.
Anyone else on T-Mobile in the US and able to get data?
EDIT: Data seems to be hit-miss. For the last 20 minutes data seems stable.
After about 10 hours of use, I can confirm that US T-Mobile users cannot get 4G on the F1. Even though it says it has an LTE connection.
Voice and 3G work fine. If you're planning to use this with data on T-Mobile, you might want to look elsewhere. I use mine mostly on WiFi so not a deal breaker for me.
I too am on T-Mo and live in Chicago. Voice sounds great. Same experience with data - the phone shows "4G" but I am getting 3G speeds. I've run Speedtest numerous ties, and I'm consistently getting 10 Mbps down, and a few up. Absolutely adequate for my needs (Spotify, email, etc.). In fact, Spotify runs so much faster than my previous phone, that it is a huge improvement for me. So, I've had the same experience, and for me, as well, 3G is not an issue.

My Speedtest results are attached. There's some variance, but about 10 Mbps down on 3G. Of note, the Wifi results are crazy, and easily 2x faster than my previously phone (LG V20) on the same exact network. In my experience, at both home and work, the Wifi on the F1 is ridiculously good.

I agree on the WiFi. I have FIOS gig service I'm getting 400 MB down and 450 up at home on WiFI. with the F1. Better than my S9+ or OnePlus 6
I'm very impressed by the F1. More so than I thought. Just waiting for my unlock code. I have not run into an app yet that has given me an issue. I'll be testing Android Auto later today when I get home. This is truly a nice phone at an amazing price. While no 4G is disappointing, I'm wondering if the band is there, just not turned on. Won't be the first time we have seen that.
Come on development!
Thanks for the follow-up. Also, although a little off topic, I'm interested in hearing about your experience with Android Auto. For me, "Ok Google" isn't currently working. I understand that's a Google issue, not a problem with the F1 (I hope). Haven't been able to text in the car, like I usually do, so I'm anxiously awaiting a fix for that!
My pocophone will not connect to T-Mobile. I have the correct APN settings and it does not connect. I'm surprised you guys are seeing connectivity. I'm in the new york area

Just information "OK Google" command already fixed on miui 10 8.9.11 closed global beta rom,,,
Thanks! Here's hoping the F1 updates to MIUI 10 soon!
Compared to my Mi A1 or Redmi 4X I don't get a LTE symbol here in austria (three), speed is probably mediocre.

I've done everything. I even unlocked the boot loader and still nothing. I downloaded the LTE discovery app and it will connect for 2 minutes then drop. I think it's a software issue. I'm on 9.6 build

So you can't get 2G or 3G? No TMo connectivity at all? Sorry for all the questions - I have a trip to NYC in December, and want to know if I'm going to have a problem!

I assume the SIM works in another phone? If not, could just be a bad SIM. If not, maybe you got a bum phone. I'm 60 miles from NYC and only LTE is not working.
It will be another day before I can test Android Auto. Wife has that car and working late tonight.

T-Mobile has Band 5 in limited markets (which F1 includes). 2, 4, and 12 are prevalent in NY. My current phone has B5 and I've never seen it connect to that band personally.
As for OP. 4G is probably HSPA (3G) but that's very slow. Can you use Network Signal Guru to confirm signal type?

Same here. Got it yesterday and requested unlock code last night.
Hello,
is anyone facing the same problem, that the 4G Signal is often very weak and unstable. For me if the signal isnt the best, it switches to edge or hsdpa+.
With my old phone i have got always 4g at the same location... Any ideas? I have already tried a factory reset and changing the sim card slots.

I don't have that issue but I would say that's usual. All phones have different signal strength. It could be that your previous phone had better than op7. And its hardware related. Sometimes you can Improve it a lil bit with another firmware. But in most case there is nothing you can do.
I'm not getting good LTE reception either. I'm in Canada on Bell Mobility. I have the Chinese GM1900 model OP7 running the latest OxygenOS.
I keep switching between the OP7 and Pixel 2XL and I notice that even though the GM1900 supports all my carriers bands, the OP7 tends to choose different LTE bands than my Pixel 2XL does. Also, I noticed that the LTE Discovery app shows a weaker signal on the OP7.
I'm not sure what the issue is, and I am thinking a refund/exchange will be a hassle but I might give it a shot if I have to. I have only had the device since last Saturday so I am still hoping that there is a tweak or even another ROM I can choose to help this.

Nah. Coming from Mi9 I would say its the same compared to op7.
Edit: you could try to change your network type. Maybe there is something wrong selected.

Already tried to change the network type. No change.
Also it should work out of the box. Maybe the next system updates will fix this.
I have the same issue and I've replaced the phone already and it hasn't made a difference.
My partner's on the exact same network and gets 4g where I get H+?! In the exact same place on an iPhone 6s. Go figure.
I think a firmware update/fix is needed.
Anyone submitted it as a bug?

Finally someone with the same problem. This is exactly my problem. H+ where others get a stable good 4g connection at the same place. Where can we submit this bug?
Edit: I have opened a thread at OnePlus. Maybe all with the same problem can comment this so OnePlus actually cares about it?
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/unstable-4g-connection.1069237/
The Op7 has not been released for my market, is it still ok to submit a bug report there?
Anyone with the same problem?
Can confirm this has been an issue on my 3rd 7 pro, haven't tried on the first 2 before RMA'ing them unfortunately. I want the 7 because I couldn't stand the curves and the weight of the pro in the end so i'm gonna return the one I got now as well....but if this is a widespread hardware issue with both it kinda sucks for me, on most days I use 4g for at least 2 hours.
I think everyone needs to include their views on the issue posted at OnePlus so that they can see how widespread this issue really is.
Sent from my GM1903 using Tapatalk
I'm also gonna return the phone and buy another one if this won't be fixed. It really sucks because with my old(er) Phone(s) I have got better signal strength than with the new op7. This is a nogo for me...

I created a feedback using the Community app, and I also created a log file while having the issue and sent it in with that report.
EDIT: Purchased a Redmi Note 7(the OPO7 costs 3 times more) and i have got stable LTE signal where the OPO7 only gets HSPA+. Gonna sell the OPO7. This is really a nogo for me.
Anyone else with the same problem(s)?

hey, It seems to me you have a problem with the 4g band itself did you try to change it to Europe or Us from hidden settings,
If you haven't tried that may I suggest to do so by searching on google play for an app called android hidden settings, by 0alex..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kasitskyi.hiddensettings&hl=en_US
and change the band between europe and us and toggle as well between 4g and other modes just to make sure it was changed.
I hope that helps,
Just got the OnePlus 8 5G for "Sprint".
I took the June security patch update and my cellular data has been garbage. See attached photos.
I can't be the only one experiencing this, right?
I've contacted Sprint and Tmo.
They had me reset all my connections (wifi, bluetooth, cellular) and they refreshed their end.
Still crap.
Any ideas?
Welcome to 5g with TMO. Also the new modem is garbage too to begin with. You could always flash the previous version modem or turn off 5g altogether.
So I'm trying to reply on the Gcam thread for OnePlus 8 and it keeps telling me "Post creation failed"
Why?

I actually got 120 something down peak and avg of 60 after the update. But, still, I was consistently getting 120+ on lte on my 7t. It's like when tmo sees a 5g phone on their network, they reduce lte speeds. But the new software is a definite improvement unless it's related to the additional 2.5 ghz 5g band
edit: The latency and ping is still terrible though . I should have just kept my 7t
I went into this knowing its limitations (Currently) while there is no global firmware and that there is no guarantee of there being one in the future. However I thought it would be fine and I could drag and drop media locally to the tablet to watch.. errr nope
Can not put anything bigger than 4GB on the local or SD storage..
Ok i'll do it all over the network.. nope Tablet will not connect to the 5ghz wifi on my WIFI6 mesh hope network. I'm only getting 2.4Ghz band which gives me a whopping 4Mbps out of the 220meg I can get on my OnePlus 7Pro (which incidentally has no issue with me dragging large files to it).
So literally everything i've bought it for is useless without me spending considerable time to research.
To top it off I have an OTA update waiting for me which reports say will downgrade me to widevine level 3.
UPDATE: Got the 5g working. Had to change the 5ghz Wifi to hong kong region.
Now to investigate the 4GB limit. Odd as its android 11.
i feel the same...
what is the downgrade to widevine level 3? how does that affect us?
Here because I just got this as well.
The 4gb sounds like a Fat32 limitation... I think exFat bypassed this? Not the tablets fault .
Also, I have widevine l1 out of the box.
This thing crushes games and doesn't even throttle.
Instead I'm disappointed with how overwhelming 11.5" compared to my poco f2 pro.
By the way... The 5ghz WiFi works out of box (Australia) tried to find a WiFi localization option but failed...
By the way mine comes bootloader unlocked by default
!!! And gives a warning about that in bootup...
I just want a root solution, and I'm happy with current ROM...

Google hasn't offered any info yet, there is just the leak/romour that the P7 Pro will use a new/unannounced Samsung Exynos 5300 modem.
According to
First details of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro come roaring out: 2nd-gen Tensor, new Samsung modem
9to5Google has uncovered concrete details of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, including the devices’ codenames, Tensor chip, and Samsung modem.
9to5google.com
"GS201 chip will feature a – currently unreleased – Samsung modem with the model number “g5300b.” For comparison, the Pixel 6 lists its modem as “g5123b,” which is the Exynos Modem 5123. Given the model number, we believe Google’s second-generation Tensor chip will have the Exynos Modem 5300"

Since Google doesn't offer any info on their website about the modem, we'll probably have to wait for a teardown/review where the modem either gets read out in software, or someone takes the phone apart and can tell us what's inside.

The confirmation is great, but that means little since it's an unannounced modem, and we don't have any specs and there are no other phones using that modem to compare it to.
I took a chance that the P7 modem will perform better than my P6 which I am going to trade in.

Agreed. Sadly, trust of the chat level information has been lacking IMHO.
Thx god I read that! Thats the reason why I don't buy a Samsung device here.
There are sightings of the 5300g revision (where as previous leaks had 5300b and f revisions)
The old modems are not that bad but S21 was really bad and 6 and 6 Pro one of the worst.

So shut off 5G then. It's a battery hog and not needed for 95%+ of us anyway.
To be clear, it's not just Samsung modems that suck with 5G. My Qualcomm X60 in my OnePlus 9 has 5G disabled because of battery drain, data stall, and heat issues as well.
Well, we know it has a "Samsung Exynos Modem 5300g" whatever that means. It's the next rev of the same modem from last year. After the latest updates the 5100 modem was working ok, although 5G battery life was atrocious (which is on par of this 2019ish chipset).
Hopefully the Samsung modem team has improved 5G battery and at least you'll have a working modem that while it's not state of the art, people can't complain too much.

I use only LTE the last few years cuz we got 5G over DSS which is 4G.
The Pixel 6 Pro has the worst connectivity and reception of any phone I've used
The Pixel 6 Pro has connectivity issues. It goes offline very frequently and doesn't reconnect as quickly as it should, unlike other phones.
www.androidauthority.com
Maybe you wanna read a lil bit
Here we go again
Phone won't stay connected to mobile data for more than a few minutes before disconnecting.
I just got my 7 Pro all set up a couple hours ago. I'm using Straight Talk with a Verizon SIM and I'm having serious mobile network connection issues. It will connect to 5G/LTE for a few minutes, then it will just disconnect and tell me I don't...
forum.xda-developers.com
So I just got my 7 Pro and I checked my signal strength compared to my 6 Pro with the same sim card in the same spot. What I can say is this. The 7 seems to have a much more stable connection. I watched the signal strength for about a minute and I saw the 6 bounce around from -107 to -112 dBm. The 7 consistently stayed at -107dBm. Can't really tell if there's any difference in real world usage yet but these are the findings I have so far.
So its not that bad which is still bad :/
