Does anyone know of an app that shows more than only the latest GMail notification? I know one exists for WhatsApp, i would like something similar for GMail and Outlook as well.
I don't think you'll find one app for it right now. I think the only way to do it is to enable notifications on the gear app on your phone for each app that you want to see on your watch and hope they are compatible. Outlook using the built in email certainly provides notifications. I use it all the time
Can you browse your new emails? Or do you only see the last email?
I see what is in my inbox. I also use Nine and it shows full emails in my inbox
Related
1) It constantly tells me I have new emails when in fact I don't. It can be an email I received an hour ago. I'll still get 2 more notices that it is a new email even if I have read it or deleted it. I have notifications turned off for Gmail, but I am also using the regular email client to access Gmail. No matter the notification I get I think I am seeing the email via the regular phone email client.
2) Gchat, how do I bring this up? if someone Gchat's me I get a notification. but i can't seem to find a way to start a gChat conversation with someone on my phone.
Gchat is under Gtalk and that where you would go to reply to them. My Gmail has yet to give me any problems so I can't help you with that. Maybe you should try deleting your account and adding it again.
The problem isn't Gmail, it's the default client. Any time it downloads a message from the server, you get a new mail notification whether it has been read or not. This means that every time you delete a message the message it loads to replace the deleted message will trigger a new message notification. This would happen for any e-mail account.
That behavior caused me to just avoid using the default mail app altogether. I just use the pre-installed Gmail app instead.
Yeah I have the same issue with the defaul Email app. When I delete a new message 30 minutes later when the refresh is run it loads up an old email message I have responded to or dealt with 100x stating its new and alerts me of it.

Well from reading the message it looks like he is using the Gmail app but it is giving him problems. I do not use the email app that comes with the captivate because I can not use my yahoo account on it. I do not know. We should wait for the OP to reply and see if he is using the Gmail app or the Email app.

No, i wasn't very clear i guess. I'm using the standard email client to access gmail.
The email program that came with the Captivate give me tons of problems, one is the problem with showing new email but there is none.
I've been using the gmail email app for gmail. For non gmail accounts I use MailDroid.
While I think the Google Mail app is ALRIGHT I think it needs quite some improvement so I am wondering if there is either a good alternative to it or if someone added features to it / modded it.
1) problem:
i can't select any text from any emails (written by others or myself) which isn't too great when writing emails.
is there any app for selecting text maybe? it's something i miss a lot on android. if i want to select text on a website I need to switch to Skyfire.
I just can't believe coding a text selection is really hard so I don't understand why google didn't add it themselves yet.
2) problem:
when I'm on the go and sending an email and the CONNECTION dies for a moment the Google Mail app will be stuck at "Sending..."
I guess it is stuck in a loop then and it won't send out my email but I also can't go back so I can only close Google Mail with a taskmanager.
Can't this be fixed, too?
I just want a GO BACK feature so that it won't get stuck in a loop. Maybe just an automatic Save Draft just when someone clicks Send and then goes to the Send process and then you get the option to force close that and just go back- I dont know.
not sure what phone you have or what apps come standard so.....
i dont use the gmail app period. turned off notifications and disabled gmail sync in the sync menu. I use the regular Mail app that came standard (HTC Hero) for all 3 of my email accounts, yahoo, gmail, and hotmail. never have any problems out of it.
EDIT: Mail app will select text and if connection dies when sending mail, it will pick up where it left off when the next scheduled sync takes place.

I too use the default mail app (this time CM6 on a nexus1), but if you don't like that one you might want to check out K9 Mail. I think its free from the market (or various places online if you don't have access/market enabler).

oh nice. k9 lets me select and copy text. im convinced. installed it and got rid of gmail.
Does anybody know how to adjust the following.
When i open Gmail i see it only loaded about 6 emails and then it will load more.
After a while or after a reboot i see its again only about 6 and when i open it it loads the rest. (i can also see this in the gmail widget.)
Is there a way to set a default so i will always sync like the latest 50 emails?
I would like this because when i dont have a wifi connection around and i want to check one of the emails i seen before, i cant because it didnt load that much.
hope you understand what i mean.
I think it syncs a specific time frame. If you want to view them off-line you can add gmail to the stock email app (either as Exchange or as imap).

Whats the difference between using gmail app or the email app?
accept for it storing the emails on the device?
any functions that differ or sync posibilities etc?
i like the gmail app, just want it to store more emails for offline use
Gmail app only works with gmail and is actively developed by google. The mail app is a android stock email app customised by the manufactures. Beside the offline storage you can use them the same way but you could also pull the mail instead of pushing.

How do I get rid of "conversation view" in the gmail app on my phone? I hate that gmail lumps all the emails into 1 from the same sender making it difficult to find emails when needed.
Is there any way to turn this off on the gmail app? I know how to turn it off when using gmail on my computer, just not the app...
Thanks
I don't think it can be done on the Gmail app.
But I think you can disable it via browser, and use the email app (not gmail app) to set up your account. From here, you should see it disabled.

I wish there were away to turn off conversation view in the app. I have it turned off in webmail to no effect in the app. Conversation view can get cumbersome if you're trying to deal with select messages that are bundled with 50 others.

Agree 100%. Surely there has to be a way to turn this off. Even native IOS mail allows it boths ways. Ive seen posts on this for over a year - is this feature technically impossible????
Has anyone using the stock app? I am thinking of switching back to stock app but want to know if it's good or not? Rating on play store not so good
You know, I tried it and it worked ok. I've been using Gmail since it was beta, and for ease of use, I am so accustomed to that I will likely not change.
I'm coming from Outlook and I don't like the stock email app from Samsung. I went straight back to Outlook. Something about how emails are managed and how they are displayed kind of puts me off
What email server are you using (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo)?
Mine doesn't recognize either Gmail or yahoo so I end up installing the app for both servers, (Gmail app and Yahoomail app).
Is there a way to turn off the notification inside the app when there's a new version available? I want to stay on the current version.
