[Completed] Can't find gsm call audio data before transmission in kernel android - XDA Assist

I am working on a project in which I want to fiddle with the voice data before sending it on gsm. I read that this can be done by creating my own ROM and tweaking the kernel but since I am a complete noob at this I haven't been able to find the files which I need to edit.
I am using Samsung S4 kernel. I searched all the files with keyword gsm in them, but the only file which seemed relevant was n_gsm.c in drivers/tty but it doesn't have anything about voice data.
If anyone can direct me to which file I need to edit, it would help me greatly.

Greetings and welcome to assist. I'm assuming you have downloaded the source code from samsung and done a grep search for the relevant files ? There are a few excellent guides in xda university for kernel building where you will get help from the experts

Please help on info for Creating custom rom

Hey All! I have been lurking around the forums and reading intensively on how to create a ROM but all I get usually is moreso on how to modify an existing rom, not actually create one from scratch, the steps involved in creating one, either from a Download of the base rom (un-rooted ) or pulling files off the phone itself via (adb pull /system )
If you know of any good info that may be of use to me please feel free to post a link! Any help would be appreciated!
**I currently have/use the Samsung Galaxy Prevail (SPH-M820 ) boostMobile, so anything directly related would be appreciated**
Thankx!
This is the very core of it!
Android source
You will be able to download compile and build a ROM, although, all of those threads on modifying ROM's will then come in handy because you are going to have a lot of tweaking as well.
If you are interested in Cyanogenmod source have a look HERE
Also check out the Chef Central section subforum Android. Lots of good stuff there.
imheroldman - Thanks I appreciate the links! , and those are some I have NOT run across yet lol

[Completed] Help modifying some firmware

This thread is indirectly related to http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...-931w-failed-to-update-modem-s7-931u-t2843822
So, I working on some firmware and I trying to stop some sh*it which is executing after device boot.
I extracted firmware and everything and now I find out that inside bin folder is script related to a problem - script which updates modem - because that's newer fw for two HW identicaly devices, except that one have modem - so I want to install to one which don't have modem because one with modem is much better updated.
So now I wondering how is that script executed in bin folder, how I can stop that so I can repack firmware and flash it and woth hope that problem will not occur again?
For more details please read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...-931w-failed-to-update-modem-s7-931u-t2843822
I know that nobody likes this tablet, but the solution I seek is directly related to standard Android firmware.
Hi!

[Completed] [Q] Problem with backup

Hello.
I have a problem ..... ¬_¬ obvious ... I made a backup of the phone with droidtools, but I did not create the "user data.img", "cache.img", "system.img" files .
And now I can not restore my phone. :crying::crying::crying:
And I've searched a lot, but there is no rom for my phone.
Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance :good:
Note: Translated from Spanish by Google .....
Hola,
Bienvenidos a XDA.
If you were still on stock when you created your backup and you want stock back you can reflash your stock firmware via PC with whatever flashtool is compatible with your device. If you post your device model number I can at least get you pointed in the right direction to finding your answer.

Unfortunately, I am not finding any ROMs for you on XDA. You'll have to find your stock firmware by doing a google search using your device's model number, find it, get it downloaded and flash it from PC with whatever flashtool is for your device.
You can try posting in the forum linked below.

Good luck.

Sorry, just I wondering, but I'm more interested in whether there is any tool to package the files that I need.

The tools you use will depend on your device, generally, Linux can be used for manipulating things like that on all android devices but the tools to make use of what you put together in Linux will depend on your device. How to use Linux to package things correctly for your device would be better answered by those that have your device, I am not familiar with your device so those kinds of things I couldn't tell you.
You should post your question in the link I gave you, the members there may have more answers for you than I do. There are too many kinds of android devices out there to learn them all, its best to find those that have learned that device.

Good website Study Android OS?

Greetings All
Hope everyone is well.
My question is: what is a good website for learning the Android operating system online?
The reason I ask this is my searches turn up websites for writing apps to operate within the Android environment. Or how to replace accidentally wiped OS on users devices.
I want to be able to go inside the operating system and add/remove code, modify things, and investigate for things like carrierIQ etc.
Can someone please point me in a good direction (other than learning Java language)? Thanks in advance-
GD
PS my apologies if this is in the wrong forum etc
Anyone??
Ive been searching so Im not asking anyone to do my work for me. But if you know of good sites with tutorials re the android operating system please contribute-
Thanks
